As Harper was about to leave, she caught a glimpse of the intense hatred burning in Alex's eyes.

Harper was baffled. Who exactly did he hate?

Did he hate her, or did he hate Caden?

But what right did he have to hate them?

Clearly, she was the one who lost the child and was injured, yet Alex had the audacity to feign innocence while continuing to recklessly inflict harm upon her.

She wanted to call Caden, but realized her phone wasn't with her. It must have fallen by the roadside.

Footsteps approached, and Travis walked in carrying a lunchbox. "You're too weak. I had someone make chicken soup for you. You should drink some."

Harper didn't even look at it. At this moment, she had no appetite for chicken soup. Just the sight of food made her feel nauseous.

She looked up at Travis, her tone accusatory. "It was Alex, wasn't it?"

Earlier, her mind was in chaos, filled with grief and pain, making it impossible to think clearly.

But now, as she calmed down a bit, she could piece together what had happened.

Yesterday, Alex found out she was pregnant with Caden's child. Today, she was attacked. The drunk man targeted her abdomen, clearly aiming for something specific.

The thought sent a chill through her, and she shivered involuntarily.

He dared to do this to her? He was so cruel, completely disregarding their past.

After all, she had been with him for five years. She had been dedicated to both him and the company.

And what did he do to her?

Travis remained silent.

She already had her answer.

"You all disgust me." Her voice was soft, as if it took all her strength to speak.

Travis felt a pang in his heart.

"Alex didn't do this. I've been with him the whole time. He wouldn't do something like this." Even now, he tried to defend Alex.

Harper lowered her eyes, her lashes trembling as a large tear rolled down. "If it wasn't Alex, then who was it?"

Who could it be?

Emily. The only other possibility was Emily.

Her tears continued to fall.

"What did I do so wrong that I can't just live in peace?"

She truly didn't understand. "Give me a phone. I need to call Caden."

In her most vulnerable moment, she couldn't help but think of Caden.

She wanted to see him, to feel his embrace, to feel his love.

Only that might fill the emptiness and endless sorrow she felt.

Travis didn't argue. He handed her his phone. "He's abroad right now, busy with an important project. Do you still want to call him?"

Harper was stunned.

He was abroad? When did that happen?

What a coincidence. She was in trouble, but he was out of the country.

But she understood now wasn't the right time to call him.

She turned her head away, not looking at him. Her tears fell, soaking the pillow.

She was silently devastated.

Time seemed to stand still; her world was filled with endless sorrow.

After what felt like an eternity, hurried footsteps approached from outside, getting closer until the door was pushed open.

"Caden, you're back?" Travis's voice was filled with surprise.

He should have been sent abroad for the project. How was he here? Did he abandon a multi-billion dollar deal?

Hearing this, Harper turned to look. Her eyes were swollen from crying, filled with tears.

"Sorry, I'm late," Caden said, his voice low and apologetic, as if everything was his fault.

But this had nothing to do with him. He wasn't the one at fault.

Harper threw herself into his arms, holding him tightly, afraid he would disappear. "The baby is gone. He's gone," she choked out between sobs.

Caden's voice was gentle, "Harper, this is not your fault. They haven't been born yet; there is still a chance for new beginnings. Harper, so please don't be sad. If you are sad, I will share that sorrow with you."

Caden clasped her icy hand, attempting to convey his warmth, which gradually calmed her emotions.

"Harper, will you eat something with me? I just got off the plane, and I'm so tired from the journey," he said, trying to be playful yet showing vulnerability.

Harper looked at his equally tired eyes and finally agreed.

Caden glanced at the cold chicken soup on the table and instructed his assistant to bring fresh food.

He set up a small table on the hospital bed and began feeding her the freshly brought tomato soup, spoon by spoon. She had little appetite and could only manage to drink half a bowl.

Caden didn't push her, instead holding her as she lay back down. "Rest well."

Harper nodded but didn't close her eyes, her gaze following Caden.

He sat by the bed, smiling gently at her. "I'm not leaving. I'll stay here with you. Don't worry; no one will hurt you."

Only then did Harper close her eyes to rest.

Travis, who hadn't left, watched the scene with mixed emotions. He had known Harper for so long, but when had he ever seen her so vulnerable?

In his mind, Harper was always decisive, unstoppable. Maybe she only showed this side in front of Alex.

They had all forgotten that Harper was still a woman, needing care and protection. She had moments of weakness too.

They had never truly understood Harper.

Travis felt a lump in his throat, his lips pressed together, unable to say a word.

Just then, there was a soft knock on the door.

Caden looked at his assistant outside the door and frowned.

It must be work-related, but he didn't want to disturb her rest. He stood up and gently kissed her forehead.

Her lashes fluttered. She wasn't really asleep.

"Harper, I'll be right outside. I'll be back soon," he whispered in her ear and left without waiting for her response.

The door closed tightly, shutting out all sound.

Suddenly, Harper opened her eyes, having guessed something. She glanced at the nearly depleted IV bag, swiftly withdrew the needle, and blood began to ooze out.

Without any cotton, she grabbed a tissue to press on the spot, fighting dizziness and weakness as she got out of bed.

Travis was shocked. "Harper, what are you doing? Are you crazy?"
