No Wife, No Life Chapter 261
Harper thought for a moment. She knew this was a heavy topic, but she didn't want to hide anything.
"Caden, you know I've been trying to find ways to help you walk again. And you know who Alvina is. She has people who have studied similar cases. I want to meet her in person to see if there are any new treatments or breakthroughs."
When Harper mentioned meeting Alvina, Caden had already guessed the reason.
He knew she was doing it for him. If she could, she would never want to see Alvina again.
Caden was quiet for a while, then looked at Harper and said slowly, "I get that you're doing this for me. But you know she's not one to offer help easily."
"Harper, I do not wish for you to undertake any actions against your will solely on my account."
Caden knew Harper well. He knew how much she loathed Alvina.
Alvina always liked to be in control, and Harper hated being manipulated, so she never liked Alvina.
"You can take your time finding a medical team to treat my legs. I can wait."
Suddenly, Harper stood up and hugged him, whispering in his ear, "But I don't want to wait anymore, Caden. I really don't want to wait anymore."
"I really, really, really want that Caden back."The Caden in front of her was her lover, but not the spirited Caden she used to know.
She wanted the old Caden back, and she wanted him back soon.
She wanted to see Caden proud and confident. She wanted to see him standing beside her in public, not sitting in a wheelchair, being judged by everyone. "Caden, you know you can't stop me."
Harper looked at him firmly, her eyes resolute.
No one could stop Harper when she made up her mind.
"We don't know Alvina well, but there's one thing that can make her yield."
Harper cupped his face. "She would yield for her lover."
Alvina and she were similar in that way.
Just like everyone knew Harper's weakness was Caden; they could use Caden to make Harper suffer.
"I think Declan is waking up soon, so she won't make things difficult for me."
Harper had heard of Declan, her biological father. He was gentle and valued relationships. If he knew he had children, he wouldn't abandon them.
Caden paused, then grabbed her hand and spoke seriously, "Harper, how do you know Declan won't side with Alvina?"
"You are my beloved, while he is Alvina's paramour. It is conceivable that he may select Alvina, whom he regards as his foremost priority."
Harper's body was still recovering from a miscarriage. He didn't want her to get pregnant again; he couldn't bear to see her hurt in any way, so he would rather not have children.
Even if Harper did have a child, he would always put her first.
He believed Declan was the same way.
Caden said, "I believe the most important person to him is Alvina. Otherwise, he wouldn't be worth Alvina giving up everything for him."
Harper smiled.
"I understand what you mean, and I know Alvina is cunning, but I'm still her daughter. She won't really hurt me."
"If everything goes well, I think she will support us."
She was optimistic about it.
If everything went well, Declan would wake up, Alvina would return, and it might be a good thing.
Caden couldn't help but sigh deeply.
"You're not gonna stop me, are you?" Harper asked softly.Caden replied, "I won't. You're doing this for me after all."
"I'll be back soon." Harper kissed him lightly. "Wait for me."
Caden's Adam's apple bobbed. "Okay."
She had booked an afternoon flight. Since it was a private trip, she knew she needed to report it.
Stephen was responsible for her safety, and Dominic was in charge of more comprehensive matters. If she suddenly disappeared, Stephen would have a hard time explaining it to Dominic.
"I need to see Mr. Hall," Harper told Stephen directly.
He didn't ask why and agreed immediately. "I'll take you to see him."
It was difficult for others to see Dominic, but Stephen could drive straight into the National Security Bureau with one phone call.
When they arrived, Dominic was buried in reviewing some documents.
"I need to go abroad. I have an afternoon flight. This is a private trip, so Mr. Garcia doesn't need to accompany me. I thought it necessary to report it to you."
Harper explained her purpose simply and directly.
Because of her different status, domestic flights were fine, but going abroad would definitely be checked.
The two men exchanged a glance, then Dominic looked deeply at Harper and nodded. "Okay, I understand."
With his confirmation, Harper hurriedly left.
Now, only Stephen and Dominic were in the room.
Seeing the tea on the table, Stephen didn't hesitate to pour himself a cup and drink it all.
Stephen asked, "Do you know who she's going to see?"
Dominic chuckled. "Who else could it be, if not her?"
Following Alvina's address, Harper flew directly to a seemingly ordinary private airport.
There were no bustling crowds, just a few small planes parked by the runway; it was so quiet it felt like time had stopped.
As she approached the designated gate, a uniformed attendant politely greeted her, handed her a boarding pass, and informed her that a flight to an overseas island had been arranged.
An overseas island? Alvina sure knew how to stay hidden.
As the plane ascended, Harper watched the cityscape shrink below through the window.
During the flight, the sunlight glistened on the sea below the clouds, but she had no mood to appreciate it. She was trying to guess the island's location.
After several hours, the plane finally landed on a picturesque island.
She disembarked and saw the welcoming party from afar.
A row of black-suited bodyguards stood behind a strikingly beautiful person.
She glanced at him briefly, then took in the surroundings.
There were soft sandy beaches, clear blue waters, and swaying palm trees. Everything looked so peaceful and beautiful.
Alvina certainly knew how to enjoy life, even choosing such a beautiful place.Harper lowered her gaze slightly.
At that moment, the person approached her.
Orion greeted her enthusiastically, "Ms. Orsini, a pleasure to meet you. I'm Orion Robinson."
He stood tall, gazing upon her with a smile, his eyes brimming with tenderness.
"Let's get in the car. I'll take you to see her."
Since Harper didn't bring much luggage, Orion simply led her to a jeep, politely opened the door, and invited her in.
