No Wife, No Life Chapter 143
Early in the morning, Caden opened his eyes and checked his phone, immediately seeing the news.
What was the meaning behind the image Alex sent?
No doubt, he regretted it, which was why he posted a picture of the hairpin Harper used.
Caden, sharp as ever, understood instantly.
Since Alex had made the first move, Caden had to strike back.
He had to win in business, and now that Alex was trying to take Harper from him, he couldn't afford to lose.
So, he opened his online shopping app and ordered every hairpin of the same style available in the city, instructing his assistant to pick them up immediately.
When the assistant returned with a large box of hairpins, Caden took a picture and posted it online.
"All mine."
The internet quickly pieced together the story.
Last night, Alex posted a picture, and today, Caden posted a picture of the same hairpin.
Both pictures were of hairpins, something only a woman would wear. Alex didn't have any suspicious women around him, except for Harper, who had recently resigned.
Now, Caden posted the same picture, with a caption saying, "All mine."
It was clear they were at odds.
And who was Caden's girlfriend? Harper, of course.
Harper, who used to be Alex's secretary.
It seemed both men were fighting over Harper.
Could it be that Alex also liked Harper?
But Caden was being quite assertive, clearly marking his territory. If Alex had one, Caden would buy all the rest.
He was telling Alex, "What's mine is mine, don't even think about it."
Thinking it over, the internet guessed the real reason Harper had resigned.
It had nothing whatsoever to do with business competition; it was entirely a matter of personal sentiment.
Harper saw the news and couldn't help but laugh.
"You're so childlish," she said to Caden.
Caden raised an eyebrow, speaking righteously, "I don't think so. He made a move, so I had to respond strongly."
He looked at the large box of hairpins on the floor, feeling proud. "They're all mine."
Seeing him like this, Harper didn't continue to scold him.
Then he leaned in, smiling. "The financial summit is coming up, and there's a business dinner tonight. Will you come with me?"
Harper nodded.
...
That evening, many government officials and top executives from various companies attended the event in Majestic City. It was the biggest business dinner of the year.
Caden arrived a bit late because he had an important client to meet.
Harper, surrounded by people and tired from all the small talk, perked up when she received a message from Caden.
Caden sent his location, waiting for her on a nearby balcony.
As Harper was about to head over, she heard a familiar name from a corner.
"Molly, come with me."
It was Arthur's voice, calling Molly.
Molly was here too.
Harper paused, instinctively hiding to listen.
Molly said, "Mr. Davis, we shouldn't go to the balcony alone. People will gossip."
Arthur said, "What are you afraid of? We're married now; it's perfectly fine."
Footsteps approached.
Harper saw Molly from a distance.
Tonight, Molly wore a royal blue dress, looking stunning and seductive, completely different from her usual innocent appearance.
As Harper was about to approach, someone pulled her aside.
She looked up to see Caden.
He pulled her tightly into his arms, their bodies pressed together with no space between them.
Before she could react, Caden's lips were on hers, kissing her passionately, leaving her breathless.
Meanwhile, Arthur led Molly through the hall and onto the balcony, locking the door behind them.
Molly smiled, her eyes twinkling.
She was undeniably beautiful, with a clear and pretty face.
Arthur paused, pinching her cheek. "Molly, you're seducing me."
After years together, he knew this was Molly's way of getting what she wanted, and it always worked.
Whenever she did something to anger him, she used this tactic.
Sure enough, Molly moved closer, pouting. "I just had some candy; want to taste?"
She batted her eyes, making Arthur momentarily dazed. She was truly captivating.
"Kiss me." Her voice was seductive, her expression infinitely alluring.
Arthur hesitated, feeling his body react, but she slyly moved away.
"Molly, I really want to..." He wanted to dominate her, to hear her beg.
But before he could finish, Molly kissed him lightly, silencing him.
"What do you want?" Arthur asked, breathless.
He knew she must want something, which was why she was seducing him.
Molly smiled. "The director of that reality show I mentioned before found me. He wants me to join him for an event. I think he'll give me some opportunities, so I agreed."
Arthur's eyes darkened. "Molly, do you really think the director has good intentions? What if he has other plans for you?"
"I can handle it."
Knowing he would object, she changed the subject. "Let's not talk about that. With such a beautiful view, shouldn't we do something?"
She struck a seductive pose, making his body react again.
Unfortunately, his phone rang, the caller ID showing Xavia Williams.
Xavia was an internationally renowned actress.
Xavia was Arthur's childhood friend and first love.
Molly had managed to be with Arthur partly because she resembled Xavia.
Seeing the caller ID, Molly's smile remained, but she moved away slightly.
Arthur answered the call without hesitation.
Molly leaned against the railing, watching him comfort Xavia with utmost tenderness.
She appeared utterly indifferent. If Arthur looked closely, he would discern the coldness in her eyes.
Finally, Arthur hung up and looked at her.
His brows furrowed, his eyes devoid of warmth, his tone cold. "You met with Xavia."
Molly's expression didn't change, her smile unwavering.
"Am I not allowed to see her? After being with you for so long and serving as her substitute for years, don't I deserve to meet her in person?"
