No Wife, No Life Chapter 319
Trying to calm her racing heart, Xavia quickly changed out of her hospital gown.
Once she was dressed, she put on sunglasses and a mask, and ordered a rideshare from her phone, swiftly escaping the scene.
When the car arrived, the driver gave her a curious glance but didn't ask any questions.
Xavia directed him to a relatively secluded area in the city and found a cheap motel to stay in.
As soon as she stepped through the motel's front door, a musty smell hit her.
The receptionist was an old man with a face full of wrinkles. He lazily glanced at her, took the money, and handed her a key.
"Second floor, end of the hallway," he muttered, then leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes.
Xavia took the key and headed upstairs.
The stairwell was dimly lit, the lights flickering as if they could go out at any moment. Each step she took made the floor creak loudly, adding to the rundown feel of the place.
At her room door, she struggled with the sticky lock before finally managing to push it open.
The room smelled of mildew, the walls were peeling, and the bedding looked far from clean. But at this moment, she didn't care. Compared to the psychiatric hospital, these were satisfying enough.
She sat on the edge of the bed, staring out at the pitch-black night sky, her emotions a whirlwind. The escape had been tough, but it was only the beginning.
For the next few days, she stayed hidden in the room, only ordering takeout for her meals.
As night fell again, a fire burned within Xavia. Since escaping the psychiatric hospital, she had been hiding in this shabby motel, planning her next move every day.
She had only one chance, and she had to make sure it was foolproof.
Finally, she found information about the dark web, opened her laptop, and connected to the motel's unstable WiFi. The blue light from the screen was glaring in the dim room.
Xavia took a deep breath and opened the tool she used to access the dark web.
Her fingers trembled slightly as she typed in a series of complex URLs. These URLs looked like random strings of characters but were actually gateways to a completely different world.
As the page loaded, a dark world unfolded before her. There was no light here, only endless shadows and secrets.
She quickly found the mysterious contact she had reached out to before.
This person, known online as Spider, was said to be able to provide any information, as long as they were paid.
Xavia remembered her first interaction with Spider vividly. The tension and unease still lingered in her memory. But now, there seemed to be no one else who could help her; she had no other options.
The chat box on the screen flickered, indicating that Spider was online.
Xavia's fingers hovered over the keyboard. After a moment of hesitation, she began to type: [I need to track someone's recent movements.]
Spider quickly replied: [Name.]
[Molly Reyes.]
Typing out the name, Xavia felt her heart almost stop.
After a brief silence, Spider sent a message: [You want to track Molly Reyes? Molly is backed by Arthur Davis and Harper Orsini. Are you really sure?]
Facing the screen, Xavia smirked. Though Spider couldn't see her, it helped ease her tension a bit.
[I'm more aware of that than anyone.]
A few minutes later, Spider sent a crazy emoji but still provided the information.
Once all the necessary details were submitted, Spider gave her a quote.
It was a hefty amount, requiring payment in dark web currency.
Xavia quickly checked her digital wallet and found she had enough funds to complete the transaction. Without hesitation, she transferred the money and waited for further instructions.
About half an hour later, Spider sent a new message: [The info on Molly has been sent to you, but I gotta warn you, Molly's not someone to mess with. If you cross her, be ready for the fallout.]
Reading the message, Xavia felt a mix of excitement and fear.
She knew she was standing on the edge of danger, facing great risks, but she also understood this was her only chance for revenge.
She hated Molly, and she was determined to get back at her! There was no turning back now!
To ensure everything went smoothly, Xavia began meticulously planning her next steps. She needed to disguise herself to avoid recognition.
She bought some simple clothes and a wig from a nearby thrift store, even purchasing colored contact lenses to change her eye color.
Next, she marked all the entrances and exits of the amusement park where Molly was filming a reality show, identifying potential security weak points. She also prepared some basic self-defense tools, like pepper spray and a small stun gun.
The following evening, Xavia put on her prepared outfit, donned the wig and contact lenses, and checked herself in the mirror repeatedly until she was sure she looked like a completely different person.
She grabbed her backpack, packed with all the essentials, and quietly left the motel.
Outside, the sky was dark, and the streets were sparsely populated, with only a few cars passing by.
Xavia followed her planned route to the west side of the city, feeling both nervous and excited.
Upon reaching her destination, she bribed a staff member at one of the checkpoints and hid inside the haunted house, waiting to catch Molly.
Time ticked by slowly, and her patience was wearing thin.
Suddenly, a group of people appeared in the distance. One man looked up, his gaze seemingly piercing through the darkness, landing in Xavia's direction.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she quickly ducked back, holding her breath.
After a while, when there was no movement around, she cautiously peeked out again, only to find the group had moved on.
Xavia decided to continue following them, hoping to find Molly's exact location.
She moved like a shadow, silently trailing behind them.
She had walked a considerable distance and was about to exit the haunted house when several burly men appeared behind her, pinning her to the ground, rendering her immobile.
"Who are you? Let go of me!" Xavia struggled and shouted, but the only response was cold silence. She soon realized these men were not ordinary guards but trained professional bodyguards.
Molly wouldn't be this cautious, so who was it?
Harper, it had to be Harper!
Xavia trembled all over, the mere thought of Harper filling her with inexplicable fear.
