No Wife, No Life Chapter 200
Harper paused for a moment, scanning the room.
Everyone exchanged glances, but no one spoke up.
"But I've never been one to shy away from giving newcomers a shot."
Harper gestured to Neal, who was standing on the stage. "Neal, you did well. You can come down now."
Neal quickly stepped down, his face pale.
Brock sneered and said, "Ms. Orsini, what's the rush? Neal did such a great job. We still have questions for him. Let him stay."
"Yeah, I have a few things I'm unclear about too. Ms. Orsini, let Neal explain it to us properly."
Another shareholder frowned in displeasure.
Felix, standing next to Harper, glanced nervously between the company executives and Harper.
He understood that Harper had become the focal point of this meeting, as if all transgressions were attributable to her actions.
But Harper's face still held a faint smile.
Finally, Caden spoke coldly, "Enough. Harper is now the CEO of FusionX Company. She has the authority to make any decisions!"
A shareholder continued, "Mr. Elikin, since you've handed over the power to your fiancée, you no longer have the right to voice your opinions. We're enquiring Harper, not you. You should understand that."
"Yeah, you've already transferred your shares and assets to Harper. Why are you still interfering? And wasn't it your assistant who sent us the meeting materials?"
"You should be at home recovering instead of coming here and causing trouble."
The shareholders were united in their complaints, with some even grumbling about Harper using company funds for charity to help the poor.
Caden's eyes darkened, but he couldn't argue back.
At that moment, Harper placed a stack of documents on the table, interrupting them.
"These are letters of intent from several major banks and investors. The budget is already in place. Take a look, everyone."
Due to the recent financial summit, FusionX Company had secured numerous partnerships, leading to a cash flow issue and necessitating a financing plan.
If Neal could secure this plan, he would undoubtedly be promoted, but clearly, he hadn't done well enough.
Harper had also prepared a plan?
Neal hadn't expected Harper to have her plan ready before him.
This meant Harper had long been prepared, and this meeting was deliberately set up to make a fool of him.
Suddenly, Neal realized he had been played by Harper. In this meeting, Harper had treated him like a clown completely.
The room fell silent.
The shareholders didn't dare to speak; they had been embarrassed by Harper more than once.
Harper's assistant stood up from the back row and distributed the prepared contracts.
"These are the contracts I've negotiated with the Davis Group, the Johnson Group, HoloSphere Technologies, and several major banks. You can review them carefully. Of course, if you think Neal's plan is better, I have no objections. And if you have other ideas, feel free to bring them up now."
Harper's smile was gentle, but everyone could sense that she was conveying, "You may have your opinions and express them, but I will not alter my course."
The shareholders' faces turned pale.
They had underestimated Harper's capabilities and connections.
Neal's plans were now useless.
Today's meeting, or rather, today's performance, was orchestrated by Harper, with Neal as the lead actor and everyone else as extras, while Harper and Caden watched the show.
Finally, Harper smiled and said, "Neal, you've worked hard. Your plan was wonderful. You're the best among this group. Keep it up. I have high hopes for you."
Neal's face turned even paler.
Was this a compliment? No, it felt like a slap in the face, not just to him but to Brock and the others as well.
Harper had played everyone.
He understood Harper's message.
The first part of her statement was to embarrass everyone, and the second part was a warning to him that she had been watching him and he should be careful in the future.
From the beginning, his every move had likely been under Harper's surveillance.
Neal began to tremble.
The air was thick with tension, and Brock was grinding his teeth.
Harper looked at Neal, her smile tinged with appreciation, her tone sincere. "Neal, work hard for a few more years, and my position could be yours."
It was another heavy warning.
The CEO of FusionX Company—was he crazy to aspire to that position?
Fortunately, he reacted quickly, his voice trembling. "Ms. Orsini, you're flattered. My skills are far too shallow compared to yours. I have much to learn and hope for your guidance in the future."
Thinking back to his earlier confidence, he found it laughable.
Neal took a deep breath, clenching his fists.
He had thought Harper had risen through her looks.
Now he realized he had underestimated her. Underestimating his enemy was the most dangerous thing.
Meanwhile, Caden quickly flipped through the contracts, a proud smile on his face.
Last night, he hadn't paid much attention to what Harper and Arthur discussed.
True to form, Harper was always prepared.
Harper exuded constant confidence, unmatched by anyone.
"Ms. Orsini is now the CEO, but it seems a waste for her to only manage the R&D department and a few others. In the future, I'll transfer all my authority to Ms. Orsini." Caden made no effort to hide his favoritism.
The shareholders finally snapped out of their daze, nodding in agreement. They looked at Harper with a mix of fear, admiration, and calculation.
Harper was indeed extraordinary.
Neal was merely a lowly clerk; no matter how capable he was, he was just a pawn, easily used by anyone. A pawn couldn't change the game.
But Harper was different.
With her current abilities and position, she threatened too many people.
If this continued, FusionX Company might truly become Harper's.
Thus, the Elikin family had the most reason to resent Harper.
Brock quickly flipped through the contracts, his face devoid of any smile.
If Caden truly transferred all his power to Harper, what would be left for them? They would have to follow Harper's lead in everything.
It was absurd! They couldn't tolerate this!
"Caden, instead of giving all the power to Harper, why not give it to the Elikin family or other executives? Harper's abilities are limited. Who will bear the responsibility if something goes wrong?" Brock argued.
Caden retorted, "Should it be you? You have consistently been the source of discord. Do you truly possess the audacity to broach this subject?"
Brock fell silent, his expression darkening as he attempted to reason with Harper. “Harper, do you truly share this perspective? You must recognize that this enterprise belongs to the Elikin family, and it rightfully should be inherited by a member of our lineage. It would behoove you not to exhibit such avarice.”
