No Wife, No Life Chapter 325
Harper was busy shoveling food into her mouth, not paying attention to the caller ID on the screen.
Caden, however, leaned over to take a look, and his expression changed slightly when he saw Mason's name.
"What's up?" Harper was a bit confused by Cader's reaction.
Caden pressed his lips together without saying anything, prompting Harper to lean over as well, her expression turning a bit helpless. "I've already made things clear to him, but I didn't expect him to call again."
Mason sure was persistent.
Unfortunately, her heart only had room for Caden, leaving Mason out in the cold.
Caden's gaze drifted elsewhere, pretending not to care as he cleared his throat. "Since he's calling you, you should answer. Otherwise, knowing his personality, he'll probably show up at the office."
Harper chuckled, picking up on the jealousy in Caden's tone.
She leaned in close to Caden, batting her eyelashes playfully. "If I do answer, you won't be mad, right?"
"There's nothing to be mad about." Caden continued to look away, but the intense jealousy in his words betrayed his true feelings.
Harper's smile deepened. She intertwined her fingers with Caden's and handed him the phone. "Since someone seems so concerned about this call, why not let that someone answer it? Otherwise, he might not feel at ease."
Caden knew she had already turned Mason down, but he was still jealous.
So, she might as well let him vent that jealousy.
"Since Ms. Orsini insists, I won't hold back." Caden glanced at the phone, huffed arrogantly, and quickly pressed the answer button.
The next second, Mason's hesitant voice came through, "Harper, I know it's bold of me to call you now, but I'm not here to bother you. I have something important to discuss. Can we meet?"
Meet? Caden's ears perked up, clearly displeased.
Before Harper could respond, he spoke first.
"Mr. Cruz, asking her out like this isn't about business; it's about satisfying your own desires, isn't it?"
He knew Mason was a simple-minded guy.
But Harper was his.
When he was paralyzed, he thought he couldn't stand again, so he had said things about letting Harper go to other men.
Now that he had hope of standing again, he wouldn't let Harper go to anyone.
Harper was his, forever.
Mason's eyes widened upon hearing Caden's voice. "Mr. Elikin, are you with Harper?"
Caden chuckled, his eyes devoid of anger, instead filled with deliberate mockery. "If I'm not with Harper, should I be with you?"
Mason's head drooped instantly, like a puppy who had been scolded.
What a stupid question.
Harper and Caden were a couple, of course they'd be together.
But he, despite being rejected by Harper, still couldn't give up.
Mason pouted, staying silent for a moment before speaking again, "Mr. Elikin, Harper should be beside you, right? I really have something important to discuss with her, about a collaboration."
"Oh? That's interesting." Caden exchanged a glance with Harper, whose smile deepened, but she didn't rush to speak.
Caden chuckled. "If it's about a collaboration, why can't I hear it? You know Harper always tells me everything."
Harper smiled. Letting Caden vent his jealousy would make him feel better, but it was a bit unfair to Mason.
Mason fell silent, opening his mouth but unable to make a sound.
Seeing Caden going too far, Harper quickly took the phone, speaking in a business-like tone, "Mr. Cruz, what is it you need to discuss?"
Mason's eyes lit up instantly, the gloom lifting from his face. "Harper, you're finally talking to me. I hope you believe me; I'm not here to bother you. I'm really here for a collaboration."
Harper remained noncommittal. "What exactly do you want?"
As she spoke, Caden, like a child claiming his territory, grabbed Harper's hand.
Harper saw his action and smiled helplessly. He was acting like a child. He knew she didn't like Mason, yet he still got jealous—so childish.
But Harper didn't shake him off; instead, she held his hand tightly.
Mason's voice came through the phone, "I heard the Wright Group and FusionX Company are collaborating. My father is very interested in the robotics project, so he sent me to negotiate. The Cruz Group wants to invest in the robotics project, and we're willing to offer a 30% profit share."
Harper's eyes widened in surprise. She hadn't expected the Cruz Group to be interested in the robotics project.
But it made sense. The project had strong national support, and she and Chloe were outstanding in the tech industry, so many companies wanted to collaborate.
"Harper, can we meet?" Mason's voice continued. "I'm sincerely hoping we could collaborate. Once you see the investment proposal, you'll understand."
Harper was silent for a few seconds before nodding. "Alright, let's meet at FusionX Company tomorrow."
"Great!" Mason was so happy he almost jumped for joy. He could finally see Harper again. Even if it was for work, just seeing Harper made him happy!
After hanging up, Harper looked at Caden, thoughtful. "What do you think about the robotics project?"
Knowing what Harper meant, Caden pondered for a moment before speaking slowly, "Many people are eyeing this project, trying to get a piece of FusionX Company and the Wright Group's pie. If someone wants to profit, there will definitely be those trying to stir things up."
Harper agreed. Many were still scheming against them behind the scenes. So, they couldn't let their guard down at the signing ceremony.
...
Early the next morning, Mason arrived at FusionX Company. He wore a white suit, looking very formal, almost like he was going to a wedding.
He hadn't wanted to wear a suit, preferring to show his true self to Harper, but his father insisted it was the best way to impress a woman. Reluctantly, he put on the suit.
