No Wife, No Life Chapter 95
"Alright, can we head back now?"
Caden lowered his gaze and gently kissed her forehead.
Harper smiled and nodded.
That kiss seemed to have brought them closer.
They returned to the suite they had been in earlier.
As they opened the door, Harper immediately noticed a small rose cake on the table.
Roses were her favorite flowers.
Harper instantly remembered that today was his birthday, which explained why he had asked to meet here.
But she hadn't prepared anything.
He had mentioned wanting a pen made by her, but she had forgotten.
"Caden, what do you want?" She asked softly.
Since it was his birthday, she should at least have a gift for him.
Caden's eyes narrowed, his long, slender eyes forming a line.
His voice was deep, carrying a captivating charm. "I already have the best gift in the world."
He smiled, a look of contentment spreading across his face.
Harper remained silent.
Suddenly, Caden's eyes lit up.
He looked at her intently, as if trying to imprint her in his mind and heart.
"Harper, you are the best gift in the world. With you, I am content." He spoke with a serious expression.
Such words sounded like lines from a novel, and he truly meant them.
For Caden, he had received many expensive gifts before.
Luxury cars, designer watches, jewelry—as the heir of the Elikin family, he wasn't impressed by those.
He had also been offered many beautiful women, but he had turned them all down.
Beautiful women were a dime a dozen, and he had seen plenty.
But having Harper in his life was the most precious gift for him.
He was genuinely grateful to God for bringing her to him.
No gift could compare to Harper.
As long as she was there, nothing else mattered.
Caden said, "I'm going to change my clothes."
His clothes had gotten wet in the hot springs at Moonlight House and were still damp.
With that, he walked into the other room.
When he came out, he was dressed in a dark blue suit.
The room lights were off, and the cake on the table was lit with a few candles.
The candle flames flickered like stars in the sky.
"Caden, make a wish." Harper smiled softly.
Caden took her hand, his fingers gently caressing her palm. "Please, Ms. Orsini, make a wish with me."
The rose cake was petite, merely four inches in size, but atop it sat a single vibrant red rose, with each thorn on its stem clearly defined; small yet exquisitely detailed.
In the candlelight, her face looked even more stunning.
Caden watched her close her eyes, seemingly making a wish, and smiled.
He looked at the small cake in front of him.
He had already acquired the Elikin Group and could achieve many things with his own abilities.
So what was his only wish?
He hoped that Harper would be by his side for his birthday next year, and for every year after that.
Harper opened her eyes and met Caden's smiling gaze.
At this moment, the room was dimly lit, with only the faint glow of candlelight flickering, casting tiny, starlike reflections in those eyes.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
She felt her cheeks heat up, his intense gaze making her feel weak.
He leaned closer, his face inches from hers, staring at her. "I was thinking."
He paused, his warm breath on her face, making the air feel hotter.
Harper's heart raced.
"Caden!" She took a step back, turning her head to avoid his fervent gaze. "Not today!" She scolded him softly.
His eyes twinkled with amusement. "What do you mean, not today? What are you thinking about?"
He teased, his tone playful.
Harper was speechless.
She hadn't meant to suggest makingl love to him.
He asked, "Can I change my birthday gift to a kiss from you?"
"Didn't you want that pen?" Harper tried to change the subject, rejecting his request.
After all, they had already kissed earlier.
"But I'm greedy." Caden held her chin, making her look at him.
"We've already kissed, but I'm never satisfied. I always want more. I can't just stop at where we are now; I want to get closer to you."
His voice was mesmerizing.
"Be good, let me kiss you." He spoke softly.
Harper took a small step back.
But his hand was already around her waist, pulling her into his arms.
"Just one kiss," Harper warned.
Caden chuckled.
"I can't promise that."
With that, he cupped her face and kissed her again.
It was only their second kiss, but he was no longer hesitant, his tongue teasing hers, as if trying to draw her into himself.
After a long while, he gently stroked her cheek and whispered, "I love this gift."
Harper was completely weak, her usually cool eyes now glistening.
"Didn't you say just one kiss?" Harper pouted, tugging at his collar, questioning him.
"I told you, I can't promise that."
Caden rested his chin on her shoulder, holding her close.
"Shouldn't we have a drink to celebrate?"
He teased, "Of course, you can have juice."
On such a day, they naturally had to celebrate.
Harper nodded slightly.
Outside, there was a noise, as if something had fallen. Then, it sounded like someone was arguing.
"Ms. Orsini, what should I do? If I upset Mr. Lavien, I'll lose my job."
Both of them froze.
The only other person besides Alex who could access this area was Emily.
"You've got the wrong person."
The woman's voice was low, but it was unmistakably Emily's.
"Ms. Orsini, please don't joke. You just asked me to open this room."
Caden and Harper exchanged a glance, then he gently placed her on a chair.
He strode over and pulled the door open.
Outside, two people were struggling, having fallen to the ground.
One of them was Emily.
The other was a resort staff member in uniform.
"What's going on?" Caden looked down at Emily, almost laughing as he asked.
The staff member didn't dare look up, trembling, with sweat beading on their forehead.
They had knocked over an expensive bottle of wine from this room, and it had shattered.
This single bottle of wine was worth a year's salary for her.
