No Wife, No Life Chapter 316

Molly's phone rang suddenly, breaking the heavy silence that had settled around her.

She flinched slightly, pulled back to reality from her deep thoughts. Her eyes fell on the phone, and she glanced at the caller ID. It was Harper.

She took a moment to compose herself, making sure her voice sounded calm.

"Hey, Harper."

"Molly, I just heard you and Arthur had a fight, and you're leaving Davis Entertainment. What's going on?"

Harper's voice was filled with concern and worry, which warmed Molly's heart.

Yet that sense of warmth made her feel even more bitter.

Molly closed her eyes briefly, took a deep breath, and tried to make her tone sound lighter and more natural.

"It's nothing serious, just a little disagreement. You know how guys can be, sometimes they can be just too stubborn. I'm giving him some time to reflect. Once he figures it out, he'll come back and apologize, begging me to return."

She tried to sound as casual as possible, but she knew she was just fooling herself. Some things, once broken, could never be the same again. Like a shattered mirror, even if the pieces were glued back together, the cracks remain.

The rift between them had already cut deep, far beyond what a simple apology could mend.

However, when faced with Harper's questions, she chose to bear the pain alone, not letting anyone see through her facade.

She knew she still cared about Arthur, which was why she hid the truth from Harper.

She knew if Harper found out, she would definitely retaliate against Arthur. Harper was not one to let things slide; she always repaid her debts, whether good or bad.

That wasn't what Molly wanted to see, and she also worried that under Harper's pressure, Arthur might reveal the truth about their past.

She didn't want either Arthur or Harper to get hurt.

So, in the end, the only one who could truly get hurt was herself.

But Harper was perceptive. She seemed to sense something, paused for a moment, and ultimately didn't press further. "Where are you now? Do you want to go out and clear your head? It's not good to be alone."

Molly forced a bitter smile, even though Harper couldn't see it. It felt more like she was smiling for herself.

"No, I just want to be alone for a while. You know how I am, I need to give him some time to think things through."

"Alright, but if you need anything, call me anytime."

Harper's words were filled with reluctance and care, which made Molly feel warm but also more lonely and helpless inside.

After hanging up, Molly picked up her glass again, staring at the liquid inside, her thoughts drifting back to those heart-wrenching memories.

She knew that no matter how the future unfolded, some wounds were destined to become an indelible part of her life.

All she could do was pretend nothing had happened and wait for time to heal everything. No matter how long and difficult the process would be, she had to face it.

She glanced at the time; it was getting late.

Molly put on her sunglasses and hat, trying to leave the bar quietly under the cover of night.

However, no matter how careful she was, just as she was about to reach the door, a drunken man recognized her and stumbled towards her.

"Molly Reyes? Isn't this place a bit low for a big star like you?" The man's voice reeked of alcohol, and his hand reached out to grab her shoulder.

Molly's heart sank instantly, a wave of uncontrollable panic rising within her. She had come alone to find some peace, so she didn't have her assistant or bodyguard with her.

Now, she tried to stay calm, wanting to shake off the man's grip.

"Sorry, you have the wrong person."

Her voice was cold and firm, but the man clearly had no intention of letting go.

His face came closer, and the smell of alcohol was overwhelming.

Molly wanted to break free and escape quickly.

Just then, a familiar presence approached, followed by a familiar voice behind her.

"Let go of her!"

Molly's body trembled slightly.

It was Arthur.

Arthur moved swiftly and decisively. He pushed the drunk man away and held Molly tightly in his arms, as if she would disappear if he let go.

"Come home with me."

His tone was commanding, yet filled with longing and reluctance.

Molly looked up at Arthur, her emotions a mix of sweetness and pain.

The memories of their past happiness and sorrow intertwined, making it hard for her to sort out her feelings.

"I won't go back with you. I still have my pride; I'm not that low."

She gritted her teeth, her eyes flashing with determination and resolve.

Arthur's face turned pale.

He gripped her arm tightly. "Those things are in the past. From now on, you'll be the only mistress of the Davis family, I promise."

"But I'm scared."

Molly's voice trembled, tears welling up in her eyes. "I'm scared my husband will stab me in the heart at any moment, draining my blood. Arthur, let me go."

Hearing this, Arthur felt a surge of indescribable pain and despair deep within.

The harm he had caused was deeply etched in her heart, creating an insurmountable chasm.

Arthur still refused to give up. "Molly, give me a chance. Let's start over."

"How can we start over, Arthur? Tell me, how?"

"We didn't start with love. I used you, and you used me as a substitute. Everything between us was driven by desire, not love!"

"You treated me so well back then because you knew one day I would die for you, for the one you truly loved, Xavia. So you gave me all those resources, just to trade for my life."

"After everything you've done, how can I trust you?"

Her eyes were filled with obvious pain. Molly shook her head, her smile tinged with bitterness. She sighed softly, as if speaking to herself, yet also to Arthur.

"Stop bothering me. You know Harper's power now. If you keep pestering me, I don't know what I'll tell her. She'll definitely help me deal with you."

Her tone was calm, but there was a coldness, as if she had no feelings for him anymore.

Arthur knew she was determined to leave him this time.

He let go of her hand, the pain in his eyes almost consuming him.

"Molly!" he called out, his voice hoarse.

"The past is the past. Look forward," Molly said softly, turning to leave.

Each step she took felt heavy, as if she was stepping on her own heart.

She knew she had to leave Arthur. She had to.
