No Wife, No Life Chapter 165

By the time Harper and her team arrived, the basement was empty.

Her eyes darkened, and her heart turned cold.

She was certain Caden was still alive, though gravely injured.

But where had he gone? Had Jeremy taken him again?

Harper couldn't suppress the surge of hatred within her. She had believed she could bring Caden home this time, but she was too late. She was not willing to accept this!

Ignoring Peyton and Jacob's attempts to stop her, Harper got into her car.

The car sped down the road. She had to catch up to Jeremy; he couldn't have gone far.

This was a custom-built race car, designed for speed. Even Peyton and Jacob's cars couldn't keep up with her.

Fueled by hatred, Harper gripped the steering wheel tightly and sped forward.

Finally, she saw several cars racing down the highway in the distance.

Harper's eyes were filled with anger and determination. She floored the gas pedal, sending her car hurtling forward.

Not far ahead, Jeremy's black sedan was also speeding away, but it couldn't match Harper's race car.

Harper's heart throbbed with unbridled anger, obliterating any trace of fear or concern for her own life. She yearned for the person ahead to face a mortal reckoning.

Jeremy had to pay. Anyone who dared to harm her loved ones had to pay.

The distance closed rapidly, and she was about to catch up to the car in front.

Suddenly, a silver sedan swerved in from the left, cutting between her and Jeremy.

Harper never anticipated such a turn of events. She jerked the steering wheel in a desperate attempt to swerve, but the high speed caused the car to skid out of control.

The tires screeched, and the smell of burning rubber filled the air.

Her car spun around and was forced toward the roadside, nearly crashing into the guardrail before finally coming to a stop.

She saw Alex.

The driver of the silver sedan was Alex.

He got out of his car and walked straight to Harper.

His face showed no guilt, just the usual calm and composure.

"Harper, are you out of your mind? What are you doing?" He questioned her coldly.

Harper stayed in the driver's seat, gripping the steering wheel tightly, her body trembling from the recent jolt.

She looked up at Alex, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes.

"Am I crazy, or is Jeremy? You should ask him what he's done." Harper's voice was calm but laced with undeniable hatred.

He didn't understand her feelings at that moment.

Caden was her beloved, and Dennis was her brother; yet Jeremy and his cohorts harmed them without a shred of remorse.

Caden and Hennis were precious to her. Why did they have to do this? Had she hurt them?

Without waiting for Alex to respond, Harper said coldly, "Move!"

Her tone was icy and unyielding.

Alex's eyes dimmed. "I have to stop you!"

Harper let out a cold laugh, ignoring him, and suddenly turned the steering wheel.

The car roared to life again.

Alex's eyes widened in shock, and he tried to block her car, but his car was hit hard and slammed into the guardrail.

A cut appeared on his forehead.

He groaned and had to let her go.

Harper's car sped toward Jeremy again.

Her car was a modified race car, so it remained intact even after hitting the guardrail.

At this moment, the cars under Jeremy's command were being violently struck and sent flying.

Jeremy's eyes widened in disbelief.

He hadn't expected Harper to lose her mind completely, seemingly intent on killing him.

"Harper, you're insane! Stop the car!"

Harper's face was cold, her eyes red, as she drove straight at him, ignoring his shouts.

Jeremy's car couldn't dodge in time and was hit by Harper's car, the door cracking open.

The impact sent his car flying, rolling over twice before coming to a stop.

Jeremy crawled out of the car, covered in blood and dirt.

Harper's eyes were bloodshot. Her heart pounded painfully, like needles stabbing her, making her uncontrollably angry.

She wanted him dead! He had to pay for what he did to Caden.

Harper clenched her fists, her eyes filled with unspeakable hatred.

"Harper, this is murder!" Jeremy saw the murderous intent in her eyes.

Harper sneered and started the car again, driving toward Jeremy.

Harper thought, 'Once Jeremy is gone, everything will be peaceful again. He is the villain, the worst of them all. If he dies, no one will continue to hurt my loved ones.'

Jeremy was terrified, covered in blood, scrambling to escape.

Seeing Harper's actions, Alex finally felt the tension.

He got into his car, but his hands were shaking as he gripped the steering wheel.

His car sped forward, blocking Jeremy. "Harper, you're truly insane!"

She indeed had lost all reason.

Harper looked up, meeting Alex's gaze, a cold smile on her lips.

Her face was pale, her eyes icy, making her seem like a stranger to him.

He had never seen Harper like this.

"Alex, do you believe I won't crash into you too?" Her voice was like ice, cold and unfeeling.

"Do you think you matter to me? Alex, I don't love you anymore. To me, you're all enemies."

"Get out of my way. You don't deserve to stop me."

Harper's voice was hoarse.

The car was about to crash again.

Seeing Alex's car and Jeremy about to be crushed by Harper's car, Peyton and Jacob's cars arrived just in time.

Jacob's car blocked her and Alex.

Even so, Harper's car still collided with his.

Fortunately, Harper had slowed down before the impact.

Jacob's car was pushed back a few steps before coming to a stop.

At this moment, Harper regained some semblance of sanity.

She was drenched in cold sweat, her hands still trembling slightly.

Jacob got out of his car and walked to her.

Through the window, his eyes met Harper's, his voice gentle. "Harper, get out of the car."

He knew what Harper had been through that day.

All day, her nerves had been stretched thin.

In the morning, she had attended a board meeting at FusionX Company. She seemed calm, even smiling, but she was restless, waiting for that call, desperate to save Caden.

When the call finally came, she thought she had hope.

But she still hadn't seen Caden, which led to this dire situation. Her last psychological defense completely crumbled.

Thus, he had no choice but to coax her out of the car. He was well aware that Jeremy was guilty, but the law would bring him to justice. Harper's entire life shouldn't be ruined just because of one Jeremy.

Jeremy wasn't worth it!
