No Wife, No Life Chapter 310
Aria's throat felt like it was blocked by something, making her emit a harsh, grating sound. She lay in bed, clinging to her last shred of dignity.
She tried to sit up slowly as she struggled for a long time, breaking out in a cold sweat, but it was all in vain.
The old butler wanted to help, but she stubbornly scolded him away.
Finally, she managed to sit up, gasping for breath.
Molly watched her with a cold, indifferent gaze, her face devoid of any expression.
Aria stared at her intently, then her face twisted with anger suddenly. "Molly, what did you promise me back then?"
She started coughing uncontrollably.
"You lied to me. You've been lying to me all along."
She couldn't shout, barely holding on to her breath.
She knew everything now; she knew that Molly had been pretending. Molly wasn't a fool; in fact, she was smarter than most.
Molly remained calm, pulling up a chair to sit down. "I don't know why you wanted to see me. To settle scores? What power do you have to fight me now?"
Aria's eyes widened. She was so skinny that her eyes seemed to bulge out.
Molly sneered. "Don't you get it?"
"I assume you've seen Arthur's latest report. You must know what kind of person I am."
Molly crossed her arms and looked at her. "From the beginning, I never intended to work with you. You're ruthless and wouldn't truly reward anyone. If I helped you take down Arthur, I'd probably be dead soon after. Helping you would be my downfall. Choosing Arthur was my way to survive."
At this point, Molly decided to be completely honest.
But Aria had always planned to use Molly and then discard her, even if it meant killing her.
However, Aria couldn't understand why choosing Arthur was the path to survival. Did Molly really think that?
Suddenly, Aria let out a sinister laughter.
She laughed and coughed at the same time, but she couldn't stop. "Choosing him is the path to survival? Molly, I'll be waiting to see how you die at Arthur's hands."
She clapped her trembling hands mockingly. "Being with him, you'll only meet a more miserable end."
Molly wasn't angry; she even smiled.
"Who will end up in a miserable state in the end, don't you know?"
Molly's eyes narrowed. "But I hope you don't die. I want you to live and see how well I live after choosing Arthur and marrying him."
Aria sneered.
Molly sneered back. "Too bad, you won't live much longer."
Aria closed her eyes, still repeating, "Being with him, you'll die worse than me."
Molly's smile turned dangerous. "Mrs. Davis, do you believe in karma?"
Aria's lips trembled, her face growing paler.
The old butler spoke up shakily. "Ms. Reyes, please stop. Mrs. Aria Davis is seriously ill. Don't agitate her further."
Molly scoffed. "Mrs. Davis called me here to agitate her, didn't she?"
Molly raised her voice. "So, Mrs. Davis, you should know about karma."
Aria's body was already trembling.
Molly didn't care. "You've hurt so many people. You know what that means? You gotta pay for your sins, both in life and in death. Do you really think someone like you can go to heaven?"
Molly's eyes were icy. "Since you believe in this stuff, watch out when you sleep at night. You never know who might be waiting by your bed to drag you to hell."
Aria shuddered in fear.
Molly stood up, ready to leave.
Aria watched her back, mumbling, "I won't live, and neither will you. None of us will."
Molly didn't look back, leaving the room without a word.
Meanwhile, Xavia was at her wit's end. She didn't know what options she had left. Harper's deadline was so short. What could she do?
She thought about what Arthur had said. There was no other way but to let her manager take the fall.
She had to make her manager willingly take the blame.
Xavia's eyes were filled with hatred. She was frantic and scared, constantly sighing.
Her manager had been with her for a long time. They were closer than sisters. Now, asking her to take the fall made Xavia feel guilty, but she had no choice.
"Hatty, don't blame me."
After a long while, Xavia finally spoke in a hoarse voice.
Hatty was stunned for a moment, then asked in confusion, "Xavia, what do you mean?"
" You were the one who set up Molly. You contacted that person to frame her. You did everything from start to finish. If you don't confess, we'll both go to jail."
"It's better for one person to take the fall than for both of us to go to jail, right?"
Xavia spoke frantically. "You're the only one who can help me now. I've reached out to everyone I could, but no one dares to cross Harper. No one can truly fight her. No one will help me."
"If you take the blame, I'll give you half of everything I have when you get out. I can't go to jail. If I do, everything will be ruined."Hatty was speechless. She stared at Xavia, feeling like she was looking at a stranger.
Indeed, Xavia had long since become unrecognizable, transformed into someone quite foreign to her.
Over the years, Xavia had done so many wrong things, and Hatty had been her tool. Xavia remained clean, but her hands were stained with blood.
"You don't want to go to jail, but do you think I do?"
Hatty looked at Xavia, her body trembling.
"I warned you every time, but you never listened."
"And you did everything I asked. You can't deny it now." Xavia shouted.
"You did it all. If you don't take the blame, we'll both go down."
Xavia continued to pressure her.
Hatty's eyes reddened. She thought it over. Although she was reluctant, she had to admit this was the best option.
After all these years, their bond still mattered. She had to weigh the pros and cons. At least if she went to jail, she could protect Xavia.
Just as Hatty was about to agree, Xavia's face twisted with anger. "If you don't take the blame, I'll ruin you! I have evidence of everything. I'll post it online and let everyone know your crimes."
Hatty was completely stunned.
