No Wife, No Life Chapter 309
By the time they finished taking pictures, it was already evening. They had dinner out and returned to the villa. When they freshened up, it was already past ten o'clock.
Molly was wearing a red spaghetti-strap nightgown, her eyes half-closed, looking incredibly alluring.
Arthur emerged from the bathroom, walked over, and leaned down over her.
Molly was woken up by him, pouting and mumbling,"Let's not make love tonight; I'm utterly exhausted today."
Arthur ignored her, grabbed her wrists, and pinned her down, his eyes smoldering. He leaned in and kissed her lips. "Did I ever tell you..."
Molly, feeling the heat from his kiss, was dazed and pressed into the bed. She clutched the sheets and murmured, "What?"
Arthur's gaze was intense. He bit her lower lip, his voice filled with affection. "I love you."
Molly froze. Suddenly, she found strength, climbed on top of Arthur, and looked down at him. Her eyes sparkled, and a smile played on her lips. "I heard you. Say it again."
She kissed him again as she spoke.
Arthur pulled her into his arms, his lips brushing her ear, his breath hot against her skin.
She shivered, feeling like she was being electrocuted, but she heard his gentle yet complex voice. "I love you!"
Molly's eyes welled up. Arthur had never told her he loved her, not even when they talked about getting married. It seemed like such words didn't exist between them.
For a moment, she felt like she was dreaming, as if she would wake up from this beautiful dream at any moment.
But now, Arthur was telling her he loved her.
"So, there's no Xavia in your future, only me, right?" Molly asked as she looked at him intently.
"Only you." Arthur held her hand tightly. "You are my only wife."
Molly asked, "Will you continue to help Xavia?"
He replied, "No."
Molly paused for a moment before asking, "Do you really love me? You're not lying, right?"
Arthur pulled her down and kissed her again. This kiss was urgent and lingering.
"I only love you."
Suddenly, Molly's tears fell. She nestled in his arms, sobbing softly like a cat that had been wronged.
She seemed both sad and excited.
"Did I ever tell you about the Davis family?" He lay beside her, his voice dreamy, like he was talking in his sleep.
Since he truly wanted to be with her, there were things she needed to know.
Molly paused, her expression a bit odd.
Arthur noticed immediately. "So, you've met the Davis family?"
Molly nodded honestly. "A long time ago, your grandmother met me. She told me there would be no good outcome being with you and tried to use me to steal some documents."
Arthur raised an eyebrow.
Arthur's grandmother, Aria Davis, had little affection for her family. She just wanted to hold all the power and she considered everyone in the Davis family as her pawn.
When she found out about Molly and Arthur, she specifically sought out Molly, hoping to collaborate with her.
"Actually, I did steal some documents." Molly said it confidently.
Arthur was surprised. "What did you steal?"
He had no idea Molly had ever stolen documents.
Molly smirked. "I stole your discarded documents and gave her a bunch of useless files. She probably thought I was an idiot and stopped bothering me."
Arthur was speechless.
"Do I look like I'm that easy to use? Every time I saw her, I asked for a lot of money. She couldn't do anything about it, so she rarely came to me."
Aria wasn't stupid. After spending a lot of money on useless information, she naturally stopped seeking Molly.
Arthur didn't say anything.
After a moment, he began to talk about the Davis family.
The Davis family was a large family, but the real power initially lay with Aria. After Arthur's grandfather passed away, Aria took control, even going so far as to ruin Arthur's father to maintain her grip on the Davis Group.
She indulged his father's hedonistic lifestyle, leading to many illegitimate children.
Arthur's mother was driven to death by her, and many of his father's lovers were also driven to death by her. She wanted those children to be motherless so she could control them.
Arthur's car accident was orchestrated by Aria, hinting to the other illegitimate children to plan it.
Arthur's feelings for Xavia stemmed from this; during his darkest times, Xavia was there for him.
Molly felt a chill in her heart.
Arthur grew up in such a family, witnessing numerous power struggles, which made him so cold and composed.
Suddenly, Molly hugged Arthur, her eyes red. "I believe you. You're not like the Davis family."
He was taken aback. He knew he wasn't like the Davis family, so he said calmly, "I won't be hurt by such things."
Molly looked at him steadily, as if confirming, "Arthur, you're really good."
Arthur's eyes flickered, something brewing within them.
In truth, he was not a good person. Initially, he sought out Molly solely to save Xavia, intending to exchange Molly's life for Xavia's survival.
Thinking about it now, his heart ached. Especially seeing Molly's sincere eyes, his heart hurt even more.
He had to destroy all those documents and keep this secret.
He couldn't imagine what Molly would think if she found out.
He couldn't imagine Molly leaving him.
Arthur's voice was a bit hoarse. "You're the best."
Molly was all smiles, happy and proud.
Just then, Arthur's phone rang loudly.
He glanced at the number; it was the hospital, informing him that Aria was gravely ill and wanted to see Molly one last time.
Molly's eyes showed a hint of coldness. "Go see her."
After all, Aria was on her deathbed. Molly thought it was worth hearing what she had to say.
Arthur didn't object.
They got dressed and went straight to the hospital.
Aria, lying in bed, was emaciated, just skin and bones, her eyes sunken, bloodshot, looking like a terrifying skeleton, exuding a chilling aura.
She resembled not a human being, but rather a malevolent spirit with hands drenched in fresh blood.
The Davis family's old butler stood by Aria's bed, looking exhausted and haggard.
Arthur stayed outside the room, so only Molly went in.
Seeing her, the butler's voice was sorrowful. "Mrs. Aria Davis, Ms. Reyes is here to see you."
