No Wife, No Life Chapter 288
Xavia clutched her chest, feeling waves of pain as she struggled in despair.
Arthur had promised her a healthy body, but now he seemed to care so much about Molly. Was he planning to find another fresh blood donor for her?
No, she only wanted Molly. Molly shouldn't be allowed to live. As long as she was alive, Molly had to die.
Arthur must care more about her. How could someone like Molly deserve his affection?
In an instant, Xavia's red eyes flashed with a cold, sinister smile.
After a moment, as if exhausted, she said to her manager, "Find someone reliable to help me stage an act. Have him stab me in the back or push me down the stairs. Make sure someone captures the scene of me bleeding and sends me to the hospital."
The manager had been keeping an eye on her, worried she might get too worked up over Edwin. Hearing her words, she was momentarily stunned. After a moment of thought, she responded, her tone a bit unnatural.
"You're gonna use that trick again? Xavia, I know you don't like Molly, but we can't keep making her bleed for no reason. If we keep doing this, what if you really need blood in the future and she finds out? Let's drop this."
Previously, to confirm if Molly was a blood match, Xavia had staged a car accident. Now she wanted to pull the same trick again.
Xavia blinked her hate-filled eyes, her voice tinged with a sob, "I don't want to do this either, but today when I saw Arthur and Molly, Molly kept badmouthing me. You know, Arthur and I grew up together. He always listened to me, but this time, because of Molly, he told me this was the last time he would help me."
The manager felt a chill. Arthur wasn't wrong to say that.
If last night's scheme had succeeded, Arthur would be in a mental hospital now. The Davis Group would have a new president, and yet Xavia still begged Arthur to spare Edwin. No one could let that slide.
Arthur giving her one last chance was already a favor.
Tears streamed down Xavia's face. "I asked Arthur today if he remembered his promise to give me a healthy body. He hesitated. He actually hesitated."
"You know Molly is the freshest donor. The person who can save my life is right there, but he hesitated. If I don't try, I'm really afraid he'll give up on me. I want a healthy body. I don't want to be sickly anymore."
The manager's heart raced, her smile stiffening.
She had been with Xavia for years and knew how weak Xavia's body was. She always hoped for a healthy body and knew Molly could save her. Molly valued this opportunity greatly, but it was still a human life.
Xavia seemed like a devil. She expected Molly to sacrifice her life for her—how utterly cruel that was.
Even if she had suffered from her weak body for years, did Molly owe her? Why should Molly's life be the price, and why should Molly be treated as nothing more than a fresh blood donor?
Her throat tightened. How had Xavia become like this?
But Xavia didn't understand. She continued crying, "Arthur promised me a healthy body. Molly is right here. He has to save me."
Wiping her tears with a tissue, she asked, "You understand me, right?"
Seeing the manager's silence, she pressed on, her voice hoarse, "You'll help me, right?"
The manager turned her head to look out the window, feeling uneasy. "Yeah, I'll help you."
Xavia clutched her chest. "Find someone with a criminal record. We can pay his family a large sum to get him to do this."
The manager's breath caught. Xavia had already planned everything. She showed no fear, having likely thought of this revenge in the hospital.
The manager stared into Xavia's gleaming eyes. "Xavia, Molly might die because of you. While she's still alive, let's not go against her. Let her live happily, okay?"
Xavia forced a smile. "Of course. Once this is settled, I'll treat her well."
The manager felt a deep unease but couldn't refuse.
Over the years, she had helped Xavia with many seedy deeds. There was no turning back now.
The car was silent. Suddenly, Xavia spoke, "Make sure the person you hire pretends to be Molly's fan. It has to look like one of Molly's fans stabbed me."
The manager's eyes widened in disbelief. "Why do you have to do this? Staging this act could cause Molly to lose a lot of blood. Isn't that enough? Why make it look like her fan hurt you?" The manager was indignant as she questioned.
Xavia's eyes gleamed. "Arthur said he hadn't forgotten his promise to help me recover, but I'm worried he's falling for Molly and will replace my blood donor. She upset me today, so I can't let her off. She needs to be taught a lesson."
"You're my person. You have to stand by me."
Xavia fixed her gaze on the manager, a glint of coldness in her eyes. "She's just a blood bank. Is there any need to treat her like a person?"
She found Xavia unreasonable but was unnerved by her sinister gaze, sending shivers down her spine.
...
Meanwhile, Harper knew nothing of this.
Leaving the auction, Xavia thought about how Arthur had rejected her again.
But why?
Molly was just a living blood bank to her. She didn't even consider Molly's life important, let alone their marriage.
Arthur looked at her steadily and said, "Xavia, I hope you understand. Everything is different now. My wife is Molly. Your fiancé is Edwin. That's the reality."
No matter how real their past feelings were, they couldn't overcome reality. No amount of words could change that.
"Are you blaming me? Blaming me for choosing Edwin back then?"
Tears filled Xavia's eyes again. She cried, "You know many things were out of my control. Even if my heart was with you, I had my family. They wouldn't have allowed me to choose you back then. Why do you have to keep blaming me for one momentary lapse in judgment?"
