No Wife, No Life Chapter 283
When Arthur was ridiculed by everyone, Molly longed to rush over, hold him, and comfort him in front of everyone, but for various reasons, she struggled to stay where she was, her eyes fixed on him.
Gerald couldn't understand how someone as carefree as Molly could be trapped by emotions.
And now, seeing her like this, it was clear she loved Arthur.
The more Gerald thought about it, the more he felt Molly deserved better.
He muttered to himself, "Don't fall for anyone, just love yourself."
Meanwhile, the hospital administered an emergency emetic to Arthur, causing him to vomit. Since there were no other complications, the nurse moved him to a private room.
Arthur's face was pale and bloodless, looking extremely fragile. He was still somewhat disoriented, his brows furrowed tightly.
After an unknown amount of time, Arthur suddenly woke from his sleep, hearing the sound of breathing nearby.
Molly was lying on the bed, half-asleep.
Arthur held her hand, about to say something, when the door to the room opened.
Frank was about to speak but was interrupted by Arthur's soft voice, "Wait, don't wake her."
His voice was gentle, his gaze tender as he looked at Molly.
Frank didn't say anything, just glanced at Molly's pale face.
She had lost weight since he last saw her.
Frank truly felt that Molly, like Harper, was a source of worry.
Harper was troubled because of Alex, and Molly because of Arthur.
Molly always claimed to be rational, but now it seemed she was just as trapped by emotions as Harper.
Frank looked at Arthur and said calmly, "Last night, after you came out of the emergency room, you kept having nightmares. You held her hand but called out Xavia's name, telling her not to leave."
Arthur was stunned but didn't respond.
Frank's gaze was indifferent, "You should know, the rumors about your manic episodes were false. When you had the car accident and were treated here, we kept records. Edwin didn't know if the rumors were true, so he tried to poison you to seize power."
"The drug he used can indeed cause temporary madness; it's a banned substance."
Frank glanced at Molly again, "You should thank her. She was alert and noticed something was wrong, notifying Gerald in advance. You know Gerald usually doesn't like to get involved in family disputes, even if you're his business partner. It was Molly who persuaded Gerald."
"So Gerald investigated and found the servant who drugged you."
Arthur responded indifferently, his gaze never leaving Molly's face.
Frank felt a surge of anger at Arthur's indifferent reaction, "Also, there were reporters among the group last night. If Gerald hadn't blocked the news, the rumor about your manic episodes would have spread, and you might have been forced out of the company or even committed to a mental institution."
Though his voice carried anger, it was low, likely to avoid waking Molly.
Arthur still showed little reaction, only a slight tremor in his cold eyes.
He said, "She reminds me of Xavia."
Frank found this statement absurd.
"They're alike!" Arthur's tone was firm.
Frank was speechless, "When you were having a manic episode, I was there, observing Xavia and Molly's reactions. Molly was anxious and worried but stayed away due to her status. Xavia, on the other hand, told everyone about your manic episodes, trying to ruin you. How are they alike?"
Finally, a trace of pain flashed in Arthur's eyes.
Suddenly, Frank seemed to plead, "Arthur, you treat her like a pet, but this 'pet' has now developed deep feelings for you. If you have any conscience, divorce her."From the beginning, this marriage was a joke.
Molly never wanted to get married; it was all Arthur's coercion.
At the time, Molly convinced herself that Arthur was just used to having her around.
But was that really the case?
Arthur stared at Molly, "I can't divorce her!"The reason was simple.
He initially agreed to be with Molly because she resembled Xavia, who had a rare heart condition and a unique blood type. He had been searching for a suitable donor for Xavia.
Molly was the perfect match.
He indulged Molly and assisted Harper several times for her, even though he didn't like Harper. He invested in Harper just to keep Molly close, making her a living blood bank.
So when Molly mentioned breaking up, he refused, thinking of Xavia.
Xavia had been with him for years, and he had promised to cure her and give her a healthy body, which had become his obsession.
Molly was the only one who could save Xavia.
He harbored no genuine affection for Molly, regarding her merely as a companion for satisfying his carnal desires. Under no circumstances would he relinquish the opportunity to rescue Xavia for Molly's sake.
Arthur leaned down and kissed her forehead, feeling her soft skin, which made him momentarily dazed.
Suddenly, his gaze became distant, a cold look mixed with pain, "Frank, what's the probability of Molly and I having a child with RH-negative blood?"
Frank was shocked, a cold chill rising within him. He was trembling with anger, "You're insane."
He emphasized each word, his fury almost palpable.
"Is the probability high?" Arthur repeated.
Frank gritted his teeth, his expression twisted, "If the mother is RH-negative and the father isn't, the chance of the child being RH-negative is very low, mostly positive. RH-negative is inherited, unless the father has half RH-negative genes."
"Even if the probability is low, it's possible."
Arthur looked at the sleeping Molly, gently stroking her abdomen like a lover, "As long as she gives me an RH-negative child, I'll divorce her."
"Arthur, children are innocent." Frank felt he couldn't communicate with Arthur anymore. He felt deep sympathy for Molly.
Did she know what Arthur was doing to her?
Did she know their marriage was purely for his use?
He didn't love her; she was merely a tool for Arthur.
