No Wife, No Life Chapter 136
As evening rolled in, Caden got a call from Harper, asking him to meet her in the parking lot of her apartment building.
When Caden asked what it was about, Harper just said, "You'll see when you get here."
When he arrived, he saw Harper standing next to a sleek red sports car, holding a set of keys.
The car had a stunning design, but it wasn't one of the luxury brands he recognized. The emblem looked like a faintly outlined crane in flight.
"Do you like it?" Harper asked casually.
"Is this for me?" Caden, always quick on the uptake, guessed immediately.
"I remember HoloSphere Technologies bought a car company recently. Is this your new brand?" he asked.
Harper nodded, "This is the same model that remained intact despite being hit by Herbert dozens of times that night. I've modified it and I am giving it to you, in the hope that you won't have to endure such injuries again."
"I'm so lucky. You're worried about me," Caden said, unable to hide his grin.
Harper had once given Alex a Maybach. Now, she was giving him a car too, but this one was special—it was designed and modified by Harper herself. There was only one in the entire world.
"I'm thinking of naming it HarCade," Harper said, combining their names. "What do you think?"
Caden's smile grew even wider. At that moment, he felt like the happiest man in the world.
He snapped several photos of the car and immediately posted them online. This was a gift from Harper, and he wanted to show it off.
Earlier that day, Harper had posted some photos of the two of them, and now Caden was sharing a picture of this unique car. It was a clear display of their relationship.
However, some people were skeptical when they saw the photo.
[The car designed by Harper? I never knew she had a talent in this area. However, racing cars require exceptionally high safety standards. Can this vehicle even be driven on the road? I think it's more suitable as a decorative toy at home.]
[I think so too. A car is not something to be taken lightly; an accident could happen if one is not careful.]
A lot of people in the comments were questioning Harper's abilities, suggesting that as a woman, she wouldn't know anything about cars.
Harper didn't respond to the criticism.
Not until three days later, when the car named HarCade won the championship at an international race, did the criticisms finally cease.
This was a top-tier racing event, featuring luxury cars from around the world. The HarCade not only won but also withstood multiple collisions without a scratch, even accelerating towards the end.
Caden's car was indeed one of a kind.
Car enthusiasts were envious of Caden. Who wouldn't want to be so lucky as to receive such a car?
Caden felt proud. He wanted everyone to know how amazing his lover was, and how Alex had given up someone so extraordinary.
Meanwhile, Alex sat silently in his office chair, staring at the photo Caden had posted.
Alex lowered his gaze, his eyes cold and distant. Did Harper ever really love him? If she did, why was Caden the only one getting such special treatment?
His eyes lingered on the car again. It was the kind of car he liked too.
Harper had rushed to give Caden a car because of that accident. She was deeply concerned about him.
Why did Caden get something he never had?
A wave of bitterness washed over him.
At the same time, Caden was debating whether to tell Harper about Molly. Harper's dearest friend was Molly, and if she were to learn of Molly's predicament and his association with Arthur, she might become infuriated with him.
He felt guilty keeping this from Harper now that he knew.
Just as he was about to tell Harper, his phone rang. It was Ronald calling.
Ronald, the second son of the Johnson family, was carefree because his older brother was set to inherit the family business. He was known for his unreliable nature.
As soon as Caden answered, Ronald's frantic voice came through.
"I'm losing my mind! I can't believe it. Arthur is getting married, and we all know the woman."
Before Caden could respond, Ronald continued,"Oh my God, it's so unfair. I thought you'd marry dozens of women, and Arthur would die alone. But he's the first to get married. I can't handle this."
Caden was stunned, thinking he must have misheard.
Who? Arthur getting married? To Molly?
Caden felt like the world had gone crazy.
He fell silent, unsure of what to say.
On the other end, Ronald was also silent.
After a moment, they both spoke at the same time.
"He's out of his mind, right?"
"He's out of his mind, right?"
Ronald practically shouted, "He's really lose it."
Caden was equally frustrated."If anyone should be getting married first, it's me. Why him?"
Ronald was fuming."Get lost, both of you. Why do you both have partners, and I don't?"
Ronald was genuinely upset. Caden had found someone as amazing as Harper, and Arthur was marrying his long-time mistress. Meanwhile, Ronald felt destined to be alone.
He had called Caden to vent, but now he felt even more agitated.
"Hang up." he said angrily.
"Wait a minute," Caden called out. “"ince things are like this, why don't we all get together? Let's formally meet."
That was Caden's plan. Since Arthur and Molly were getting married, there was no point in hiding it.
Caden might as well tell Harper directly.
Ronald was still annoyed and didn't want to agree.
In Majestic City, two members of The Elite Trio had already found their lovers, while he remained single. He didn't want to meet up.
"Prepare a gift for the meeting and follow my lead," Caden said, making the decision for him.
Ronald grumbled but reluctantly agreed.
