No Wife, No Life Chapter 250
Seeing Caden, Harper's face lit up with a smile, completely ignoring the actor she had been talking to.
She walked straight up to him. "Caden, did you come to pick me up?"
"Yeah, but I happened to catch quite a show."
He glared at the actor, his eyes full of mockery.
The actor blushed, embarrassed that Harper's fiancé had witnessed his behavior. Unable to bear the shame, he fled.
Caden sneered, "That guy really thought he had a shot with you?"
Harper leaned forward, gently whispering in his ear. "I didn't agree to him either. You're the most handsome; besides you, I find no one else worthy of my attention."
Her words soothed Caden, and a smile appeared on his lips.
Upon returning to the hotel, Molly was proceeding toward her room, her attention absorbed by her mobile device, when the door before her abruptly swung open. Before she could muster any response, she discovered herself forcefully pressed against the wall.
"Molly, you really drive me wild."
The man had his arms on either side of her head, trapping her. His eyes roamed over her, filled with undisguised desire.
Recognizing him, Molly said coldly, "Asher Davis, do you have a death wish?"
Asher was the illegitimate son of the Davis family, always competing with Arthur for the family fortune. Anything Arthur had, Asher wanted to take.
Since Arthur had brought Molly to the Davis Manor, acknowledging their relationship, Asher had repeatedly harassed her, but Molly had always managed to extricate herself.
Arthur's breath was uneven. "Molly, I really like you. We're perfect for each other. Can't we be together?"
Molly sneered, "Who do you think you are? You think you're worthy of liking me?"
She didn't bother to argue further, slipping out of his grasp and turning to leave.
Asher wasn't about to let her go that easily. He grabbed her wrist. "Molly, you and Arthur won't end well. Be with me instead. I promise I'll treat you well."
Molly shook off his hand, ignoring him.
Asher grew desperate. "Arthur's heart belongs to someone else. Don't you get it? He married you, just because you look like her. Are you okay with that?"
Molly suddenly stopped.
Thinking he had convinced her, Asher quickly added, "Arthur has loved another woman since he was young. You can't compete with her."
He spoke earnestly, "But I genuinely like you."
Molly smiled, a seductive yet cold smile. "How much is your 'like' worth?"
"As long as you're with me, I'll give you everything you want. I promise I won't treat you as a substitute." He was eager to make promises.
Molly laughed, mocking him. "You've only seen me a few times and you say you like me? To me, your 'like' is worthless. It's just my looks that have stirred your lust. In the end, you are nothing more than a creature governed by primal urges."He was speechless, unable to respond.
Molly continued, "You say you like me. Would you marry me?"
Asher was silent.
His silence was answer enough.
Molly sneered, "You dare to claim you like me? After marrying Arthur, I am his lawful wife, and a daughter-in-law of the Davis family. What would being with you mean?"
"You're just an illegitimate son of the Davis family, not the heir to the Davis Group, and you don't have any real power there. Yet you confidently say you like me? Ridiculous!"
"You can't compare to Arthur in any way!"
Asher's face turned red. He knew she was right, but he was still unwilling to give up. "But he treats you as a substitute."
Molly chuckled, grabbing Asher's collar and forcing him to lower his head.
She smiled, patting his cheek. "Do you know why I married Arthur? Is it because of love? Of course not. It's because he has power and influence. Who he likes has nothing to do with me. Even if he liked men, I wouldn't care."
She was so blunt that Asher believed her.
He knew that in Molly's heart, interests outweighed everything.
Asher's legs felt weak, and he leaned against the wall, dazed, but still had a physical reaction.
Molly was like a poisonous beauty.
Unable to help himself, he covered his burning cheeks, stammering, "When you debuted, I voted a lot for you ."
He was like a kitten seeking approval.
Molly's lips curved slightly. "So obedient."
He asked, "Can't I get a little reward?"
Asher nodded eagerly.
Molly took a signed photo from her bag and handed it to him. "Your reward."
Asher was a bit dissatisfied. "I voted a lot. Just one signed photo?"
Molly raised an eyebrow. "You need to understand, even if you didn't vote, I would still have debuted in the top spot."
With that, she turned and walked away, leaving Asher standing there, stunned.
...
Chloe's arrival in Majestic City had already spread. Some said the Lavien Group and FusionX Company would eventually become rivals, while others believed only their cooperation could maximize their benefits. Opinions varied, but Chloe didn't care about any of it.
Chloe was inspecting various parts of Majestic City now. Despite wearing a mask and sunglasses, her fame was such that she was easily recognized.
With bodyguards by her side, passersby could only take photos from a distance.
Suddenly, one of the bodyguards approached her. "Ms. Wright, someone's following us."
She responded coolly, then glanced at a nearby restaurant.
The bodyguard understood and quickly arranged for a private room.
After Chloe entered, she sat elegantly on the sofa, sipping a glass of juice, her expression relaxed, unconcerned about being followed.
Five minutes later, the door opened, and the bodyguard threw a thin, frail woman to the floor.
She was the one who had been following Chloe.
The woman was adorned in modest attire, clothed entirely in black, with a black baseball cap atop her head. Her hair cascaded loosely, veiling the entirety of her countenance.
Chloe glanced at her indifferently.
The bodyguard grabbed the woman's hair, lifting her head to reveal a delicate, pretty face marred by a hint of malice.
Chloe was puzzled. She had been focused on her research for years and hadn't offended anyone. Why would someone target her?
She remained silent.
The bodyguard had already gathered that woman's information, presenting it to her respectfully.
"Ms. Wright, she's the second daughter of the Orsini family."
