The word 'husband' hit Alex like a punch to the gut.

She actually called Caden her husband. So, what did that make him now?

For a moment, Alex's face turned dark and stormy.

"Excuse me? Caden is your husband?" He stood up, striding over with a icy tone.

His eyes were deep and sharp, like they could cut through steel.

Harper, wrapped in a quilt, tensed up involuntarily.

What was he planning to do?

"Are you sure Caden is your husband?"

Alex glared at her, looking like he was ready to devour her.

"We're getting a divorce, why can't I remarry?" Harper's heart raced with panic, but she kept her face calm as she fired back.

"Fine, you can do it right now."

Suddenly, he yanked the quilt off her.

Her body curled up in tension, but her graceful and alluring figure was fully exposed.

Alex grabbed her calf. The spot where he touched Harper immediately tensed up.

His hand slowly moved up, inch by inch, until it reached her thigh, his long fingers pushing aside her lace panties and probing inside.

Feeling the wetness on his fingertips, he sneered. "I haven't even done anything, and you're already wet. What if I go further?"

As he spoke, his fingers went deeper into her vagina, skillfully finding that G-spot.

Instantly, Harper's body trembled, unable to stay calm, and she cried out in shame and anger. "Alex, stop!"

Seeing Harper's composure break, Alex's lips curled into a slight smile. He lifted the sheer nightgown and thrust his hot erection heavily into her.

He looked down at her with a commanding tone, "Say it, who's your husband now?"

Even though they were so close, their bodies connected, Harper felt no warmth.

"Let go of me!" she struggled forcefully.

Alex ignored her, continuing his rough movements while picking up her phone and dialing Caden's number.

Caden answered almost immediately, his lazy voice coming through the receiver.

"Hey, what's up? Can't sleep alone at night, missing me?" He teased.

"Don't flatter yourself. She's still my wife, and tonight I'll do whatever I want," Alex said coldly, then increased his pace, the sound of their bodies colliding clearly audible.

The intense sex made Harper cover her mouth, not daring to make a sound, while waves of pleasure made her eyes red and her mind dizzy.

There was silence on the other end of the line. Caden must have heard it, his voice filled with anger.

"Alex, you son of a bitch! You're about to divorce her and you still won't let her go. What do you take her for?"

"We are having sex as a married couple. And that's none your business. She's quite enjoying it right now. Aren't you, Harper? Tell him how much you love me fucking you," Alex said, pulling her hand away from her mouth and pressing the phone to her face, while his other hand forced her legs apart for deeper penetration.

Seeing Harper bite her lip until it bled rather than make a sound, Alex's eyes flashed with anger. Was she so afraid of being misunderstood by Caden?

He squeezed her mouth hard, his thrusts becoming more violent, forcing her to moan.

Under such intense stimulation, Harper couldn't help but let out a moan.

The next moment, she met Alex's triumphant gaze, and shame and fury filled her heart. She slapped him hard.

The phone was thrown away, and the call was disconnected.

Alex was stunned for a moment, not expecting such a strong reaction from her.

Before he could say anything, his own phone rang loudly.

Alex glanced at her, then got up without hesitation to answer his phone.

The call was from Emily's father, Brad Orsini.

"What is it?" He took a bottle of cold water from the fridge, cooling his burning cheek, his tone indifferent.

"Emily was in trouble! On her way back alone, she encountered some thugs. They harassed her, and she was terrified. Luckily, the police arrived in time, and the thugs were scared off."

Alex's brows furrowed tighter.

The Lavien Mansion was indeed a bit far from the city, but was not remote.

Emily was coming back around eight, not midnight. How could this happen?

"How's Emily?" His tone softened with concern.

Brad was fuming, his voice booming. "If it weren't for Harper insisting on sending her away, Emily wouldn't have gone through this. Emily's been terrified and crying. Harper is her sister, how could she be so evil-minded to her own family?"

Alex glanced at Harper, who was sitting on the sofa with her head down, and asked in a deep voice, "Where's Emily now?" Hearing this, Brad clearly let out a sigh of relief. "She's at home. Alex, please come and comfort her. I'm worried she'll be traumatized."

"I got it."

Alex hung up and headed to the bathroom to change his clothes directly.

When he came out, he didn't even look at Harper and walked straight out the door.

There was no need to explain where he was going or what he was doing to Harper.

The air in the room seemed to move again as he left, but it carried a chilling coldness.

Harper felt a shiver run through her body.

She bent down, grabbed the quilt from the corner of the sofa, and wrapped herself tightly in it. Only then did she feel a bit warmer.

She slowly calmed down, but she was wide awake.

This room was one they often stayed in.

For the past five years, they always stayed in this room whenever they came here.

The room's arrangement hadn't changed.

She looked up and saw the painting on the opposite wall.

It was an oil painting of a beautiful small town: In the distance, green mountains stretched endlessly; a small stream flowed through the town, babbling along.

She remembered Alex saying that he lived in that small town with his parents when he was young, and it was the happiest time of his life.

For this, she spent a lot of effort finding the small town, drawing its original appearance, and giving the painting to Alex.

"Alex, this is for you, so you can see it every day." She wanted to help him keep his happiness forever.

That time, the usually stern Alex smiled. "Thank you for such a thoughtful gift."

He took the painting from her and personally hung it on the wall.

At that moment, she even felt that she had truly moved him. From that day on, she worked even harder. She believed that if she did well enough and became excellent enough, Alex would eventually fall in love with her, and she could stay by his side forever.

Unfortunately, it turned out that she was too naive. She worked hard for five years, but it couldn't compare to a simple smile from Emily.

Emily came back, and with just a word or a glance, Alex would stay by her side without hesitation.

That was why he forced her to divorce. Her place was originally Emily's, no matter how hard she tried, the person Alex loved never changed.

Harper sighed deeply and wrapped the quilt tighter. The night was really cold, even with a thick quilt, she still felt a bone-chilling chill.

Alex went to find Emily, didn't he?

The night was long, and it seemed she was always alone. Even when he was lying next to her, there was no place for her in his heart.

Leaving the Lavien Mansion, Alex drove at breakneck speed towards the Orsini Villa.

Luckily, it was late, and the roads were empty. He got there quickly.

Getting out of the car, just as he was about to knock, the door swung open.

A figure, with a sobbing voice, threw herself into his arms. "Alex!"

Then, she wrapped her arms around his waist, hugging him tightly.

Alex's body stiffened, not moving for a while.

Though he had known Emily for so long, such intimate actions were rare.

He instinctively wanted to push her away, but thinking of Emily's suffering today, he held back.

"Alex, I was so scared! What if they did something bad to me, what would I do?" She cried pitifully and continued, "Why did Harper insist on kicking me out? It was already dark, for my safety, she should have let me stay. Does she want something to happen to me so that you won't marry me, Alex? Is that it?"
