Rose Bailey: My Mate, My Flower Chapter 116

Derek's POV (Earlier that day)

"Hey Derek, are you busy?" Jason asked as he walked into my office.

"No, come in," I said, and he sat on the chair across from me. I was hoping he was here to accept becoming my Gamma. Jason was of Beta Blood, but Jace was my Beta and had been loyal to me even when his family betrayed me.

After Landon saved me from the Vampires and Rogues by sneaking back into Blood Moon territory, I decided to let him go instead of killing him like I usually would have done a past Pack Member that returned to Parkland after being banished. He did save me, and we have known each other since birth. I know that if it weren't for Vivian being his mate and manipulating him, Landon would never have made the decisions he did. I just wished he would have realized she was playing him before he created them.

"Yeah, I thought about it, and I accept becoming Gamma. But, I have something I need to talk to you about, and I need you to keep it to yourself," Jason said.

"Okay, what's wrong," I asked.

"My mom told me something that she has been hiding for almost my whole life," Jason said

"Is that why you have been acting differently around her?" I asked

"Yes," he said

"What did she hide from you?" I asked, and he told me the whole thing

He told me how he was bitten by a vampire right before they moved away from the Pack. He said that his mom used magic to block his vampire abilities after she caught him sucking the blood of a rabbit. 

"How did you find out about this? Did Aunt Lil decide to tell you?" I asked

"No, when Marcus attacked us, I was bitten by a vampire," He said

"What," I asked, shocked. 

"Yeah, and I am still alive without a scar," Jason said

I couldn't believe it. No werewolf in history has ever survived a vampire bite. Vampires and werewolves have hated each other for thousands of years. We all stayed away from each other since the war. The vampire king and Alpha king were best friends until the Vampire King betrayed him and killed his mate. 

After that, we went to war, and many vampires and werewolves were killed. Finally, after both of the kings of each side passed away, the new ones agreed to end the war as long as we left each other alone. 

Since then, we have stayed away from each other. Sometimes there are fights against vampires and werewolves, but that is very rare. This was the first time I had seen vampires in Blood Moon land. 

"I can't believe it," I said

"I know, and me either. I need your help in finding out anything that I can about the ones that attacked my mother back then," He said

"I will help you anyway, but why do you want to know? Are you trying to get revenge for what he did to you?" I asked

"That's not the only reason. Ever since the vampire bit me, I have gained some of my vampire abilities," He said

I wanted to ask him more, but Rose walked into the room, causing Jason and me to stop our conversation. I knew he didn't want me to tell her, and though it was hard, I would keep this to myself.

"Hey, Flower," I said and gestured for her to come to me. She walked over to me and sat on my lap. I began kissing her, and then Jason messed up our moment.

"Hey, I don't want to see that," Jason said

Rose looked over at him and then at me.

"What were the two of you talking about?" She asked, and Jason looked at me with concern

"Nothing important; Jason has decided to accept my offer to become Gamma now that Landon is no longer a part of the Pack," I said 

"That's good," She said, and then her phone rang.

She answered it, and I heard someone on the other line panicking before the call went silent. I looked at Rose, and she had a concerned look.

"What's wrong?" I asked

She told me it was one of the Pack Members and she was in trouble. She got up and started to run out of my office. Jason and I looked at each other before we followed her. 

We hopped into my car, and she directed me on which way to go. I had mind-linked for some warriors to follow behind. When we got to the house, a man was screaming. Rose immediately walked out of the car once I parked and headed toward the front door.

"Rose, Flower," Jason and I said simultaneously and followed her inside as she opened the door. 

When we walked in, I couldn't believe what I saw. Steve, a Pack Member, was hitting his mate while she was lying on the floor.

"Get off of her," I growled, went over to him, and pulled him off her.

Rose went to the girl and helped her up. She was all bloody and bruised

"What are you doing? She is your mate," I growled.

"That bitch isn't my mate anymore. She rejected me right before you walked in," 

Just then, something shocking happened.

"Mate, you hurt my mate," Jason said, and I could tell his wolf was taking over.

He went over to Steve and began hitting him in the head over and over again. I went to get Jason off, but he kept hitting him. Finally, two Pack Warriors came over and helped me. Once he was off of Steve, he turned to where Rose and Deserae were.

"Mate," He said, went over to Deserae, picked her up bridal style, and carried her to the car.

"Take him to a cell," I told some warriors, and they walked over and took Steve to the Jail.

I looked over at Rose, who was already looking at me. I went over to her and put my arms around her waist, pulling her close to me. We walked out of the house and to the car.

I couldn't believe what had just happened.
