Chloe's POV

"What are they doing here, Max? They are not welcome here." I shouted, wanting everyone to hear.

"Keep your voice down, Chloe; they can hear you."

"I don't care! It would be best if you told them to leave. As I said, they are not welcome in my house."

"They are welcome here. Jason and Rose are my kids, and this is my house too."

"Either they go, or I go, Max" He looked me in the eye for a moment.

"Then leave! You are barely home anyway," He said, and I walked to the elevator.

As I waited for the elevator to open, I didn't spare anyone a glance. I stepped in and pressed the ground floor button. I stepped out of the elevator, left the packhouse, and hopped into my car.

Why would that bitch come back? It had been sixteen years, and my plan was working. Nobody knew what I was.

I spend all those years with Max, living in a house full of mutts. I was not going to let Lilly come back and ruin everything.

I parked my car in an abandoned lot and teleported to my sister Guinevere's coven. I was faced with my sister being fucked by three men. She looked up at me in shock.

"Do you mind, Choe? I am busy at the moment," She moaned as the men fucked her.

I lifted my hands, feeling the fire come to my palm. I looked at the men and smiled. Then, I extended my hands toward them and let the fire come from my body, burning them alive.

"You could at least have let me finish," She said while putting her robe on.

She stomped over to the couch like a baby and sat down.

"I'm not in the mood to be generous," I said, sitting on a chair in the corner of her room.

"What's wrong?"

"Lilly is back, and she brought Max's kids with her," I said, causing her to gasp.

"What are you going to do? If they find out what you did, they will kill you."

"I know"

"If they found you cast a spell to make Max believe he is your mate and why he will kill all of us."

"I know, Guinevere! I will figure something out." I said

We sat in silence, trying to figure out how I would keep Max from finding out the truth. I would have to keep Max and Lilly away from each other. If I didn't, their mate bond would ruin everything I've worked hard for.

Roses POV

"I am so sorry the two of you had to witness that. I will talk to Cloe." Max said

Right now, we were in the dining room eating. There was pot roast, potatoes, greens, and cornbread.

We all just nodded and kept eating.

I honestly didn't know what to say. It made me uncomfortable hearing her say those things about us. I knew we definitely wouldn't get along.

" This food is great. Who is your cook?" Jason asked, trying to change the subject.

"Dad did! He is the best cook," Mark said and took another bite of potatoes.

"Well, I know where Rose got her cooking talent from. She can cook anything, and mom is a horrible cook." Jason said

"I'm telling mom when we get back," I told him, causing him to stop eating

"I would deny it," He said, and Max started laughing.

"Lil was never a good cook. I was the one that normally cooked when we were together. I guess some things never change."

We kept eating and having small talk.

I learned that Mark is only two weeks younger than Jason. So we made plans to hang out with him and get to know him.

I didn't say much to Max. I didn't know how to have a relationship with him or if I wanted one. I couldn't get over what my mom told me about him leaving us.

I walked out on the balcony and looked out towards the trees. It was a warm day with a bit of wind. I loved the way the wind felt as it hit my face, sending a relaxing feeling through me.

I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath.

" I love it here," Max said as he walked over to me.

"Yeah, it's a great view," I said and started to walk back inside

"Can I talk to you, Rose? Just for a minute."

"Sure," I said, looking out at the trees."

"I wanted to tell you that I am sorry that I wasn't there for you and your brothers. I know you think I abandoned Lilly, but I didn't. I have always thought of your mother."

"She told me you left because you found your mate. After having her believe she was your mate."

" I didn't leave Rose. I never told her I didn't want her." He said

" Are you calling my mom a liar?" I asked.

I was getting upset.

"No! I just think there has been a misunderstanding that needs to be cleared up. I talked to Jason, and he said he would try to get your mom to meet with me. I think it would be good for us to sit and talk." He said

I didn't know how to feel about that. I didn't trust him. My mom was doing good now, and I didn't want her to relapse because of him.

"My mom has been through a lot because of you. I will never forgive you if you cause her any more pain." I told him and walked back into the house.

"You ok, Flower?" Derek asked worriedly

"Yes, everything is fine," we stayed for about thirty more minutes, then headed home.

"That was interesting," Jason said from the back seat.

"I know! I can't believe Chloe would act like that, "Cindy said

"I can! She always has been rude and stuck up," Derek replied.

"Well, all I know is I don't trust her. She doesn't like my mom, me, or my brothers. She gave me a bad vibe." I said

Derek lifted the hand he was holding and kissed it before placing it back in my lap.

"Don't worry about her, Flower," Derek said, and I smiled at him.

I didn't want to keep talking about it. I had a bad feeling about Cloe. I was going to be watching her.
