Derek's POV

"Derek Jace's mom has a gun and is trying to kidnap Kate and me," Rose said through mind-link

"Where are you now," I linked back

"She is taking us through the back door. She said the bullets are laced with wolfsbane," 

I quickly stood and ran to the back door. I mind-linked Jace, letting him know his mother was here and what was happening. When I got there, I saw Veronica walking behind Rose, and Kate headed toward a car.

"Veronica, Let them go," I growled, and Veronica turned toward me, giving Rose enough time to turn and lift her body toward Veronica. She raised her hand and made the gun fall out of Veronica's hand. 

A man in his forties jumped out of the car and grabbed Rose's arm. I growled as I went over to where he was and grabbed him by the neck. He released Rose's arm, and I threw him to the floor. 

"Take him to a cell," I said, and two guards grabbed the man and left

Take Veronica to a cell as well," I said, looking at Veronica. I couldn't believe she would try to hurt my Mate and sister.

"No, please," Veronica said

"I will take her," Jace said and went over to his mother

"Jace, this is all her fault," She said, pointing at Rose 

"How dare you speak of my Mate and Luna with such disrespect," I growled

"My daughter should have been your Luna, but now she is dead just like my mate because of that bitch," She said, causing me to growl again. My wolf wanted to rip her head off, but Rose placed her hand in mine to calm me.

"Are the two of you okay?" I asked

"Yes, they didn't have time to hurt us," Kate said, and Rose nodded in agreement.

I wrapped my arm around Rose and pulled her close to me.

"Let's go home," 

Rose's POV

"I am so happy you two or okay," my mom said as we walked inside the Packhouse.

"I don't understand why Veronica would want to hurt them," Uncle Michael said

"I think she is mad at me. She's upset that I killed her daughter, and I'm pretty sure she blames me for Jacob's death as well," I said

I felt guilty thinking about what Veronica said tonight.

"Rose, none of this is your fault," Derek said through mind-link, and I knew he could sense my feelings through the mate bond. 

"What are you going to do about her?" Aunt Lisa asked 

"What I have to,"

"Have you spoken to the man yet?" Uncle Michael asked

"I was on my way there now," Derek said

"I will go with you," my father said, and they left

Derek's POV

Max and I walked into the cell where the man was being held. When we walked inside, he had a smile on his face.

"You two are right on time. Hi Max, Alpha Derek. I want to let you know that I won't answer any of your questions. There are only two that I will talk to," He said

"Who are you?" I growled

"I told you I won't answer you. I want to speak to Joyce, Lilly, and Your Mate Alpha Derek," He said, causing me to growl at him.

"Growl all you want, but I will not answer you," 

"If you don't answer me, then I will kill you," I said, and he laughed

"Like you weren't planning on killing me anyway. How about you bring Joyce in here, and she will be able to tell you who I am," he said

"What do you think we should do? Max asked

"I am going to get Joyce," I replied, and we went to Joyce's room. Unfortunately, Joyce wasn't inside, so we went to Lilly's room.

Joyce was inside with Lilly, Rose, Kate, and my mom.

"Joyce, the man that tried to kidnap Rose and Kate said that you know each other," I said

"Who is he?" Joyce asked

"He won't tell me. He said that he would only talk to you, Lilly and Rose," Max said

"Well then, let's go," Rose said, and I went over to her.

"No, baby, you are pregnant, and he already tried to kidnap you earlier," I said

"Yeah, but you saved me. You will be right outside the door in case anything happens, which I'm sure nothing will," Rose said

"She is right, Derek. We need to figure out who he is and what he wants," Aunt Lil said

"Fine, but I will be right outside the door and don't get close to him," I said to Rose. 

"I won't; I promise," Rose said, and we walked back to his cell.

Rose's POV

Grandma Joyce, my mom, and I walked inside the cell. The man was smiling and looking directly at Joyce. 

"Hello Joyce," The man said

"Hanson," Joyce snarled

I looked over at the man in shock. I remembered Grandma Joyce saying that Cheryl's boyfriend, Cloe's father, was named Hanson.

"Why are you here," Joyce asked

"It's nice to see you too," Hanson said

 "Answer the question," Joyce snarled

"I decided since the three of you did me a favor and killed your annoying sister, I would send this message to you personally," Hanson said

"And what is that?" my mom asked.

"He is coming for you," he said, looking directly at me

"Who," I asked, knowing he was speaking to me. 

"Wouldn't you like to know? You might want to check on Veronica; she might not be in her cell anymore," Hanson said, and then he disappeared right in front of my eyes.

I looked over at my mom and then at Grandma Joyce. 

"Derek," I called out as I walked toward the cell door. He opened the door and saw that Hanson was gone.

"Where did he go?" Derek asked confused

"He just vanished," My mom said, and I began to run to Veronica's cell

"Rose," Derek yelled 

Derek was by my side when I made it to Veronica's cell. I opened the door and was shocked to see two guards chained to the table. Veronica was nowhere in sight. Derek went over to them quickly and helped them out.

"Where is the prisoner?" Derek growled

"Beta Jace came in and said you wanted him to bring her to you. I knew something was off and told him that we would need to hear that from you, and then he attacked us and chained us," One of the guards said

"He took on both of you?" I asked, shocked. I felt terrible when I saw the expression on the guard's faces.

"I am sorry, Luna. We let you down and deserve to be punished," One of the guards said as he kneeled in front of me.

"You will be punished," Derek growled and then grabbed my hand, and we left the cell.

"I need every warrior to keep a lookout for Jace. He and the prisoner Veronica, his mother, are on the run. Don't let them off the Border," Derek mind-linked to every Pack Member.

"There are no signs of Beta Jace or his mother anywhere. I believe they have made it passed our territory," One of the trackers said.

They had been looking for hours for Jace and Veronica. I had a feeling a long time ago that they had already made it passed or territory. Derek had already called all the Pack Alpha's we have alliances with, letting them know what was going on. They all said they would contact him his they saw Jace or his mother.

"Have the guards keep watch just in case they decide to come back on Pack land," Derek said in his Alpha tone.

"Yes, Alpha," the guard said and walked away.

"Let's go to our room and rest. If anyone finds anything, they will let us know," I said 

"You go rest. I will be there shortly," Derek replied

"Derek, they are not on our land anymore. You need rest, and we will deal with this tomorrow. If anyone finds anything, they will tell you. Now please, let's go to bed," I said, and Derek nodded

We left his office and went to our room.

"I almost lost you again today," Derek said

"But you didn't. I am right here with you," I said

"I will never let anyone take you from me," Derek said, and we went to sleep wrapped in each other's arms

This was a birthday I would never forget.

Jace's POV

"This is where we will be staying," My mom said

"I am not staying here," I replied

"You can't go back, Jace; Derek will kill you for letting me go," 

I knew she was right, but I had to get her out. If I didn't, Derek would have my mom killed for trying to kidnap his Mate and sister. I couldn't believe my mother would do that. She has always been a sweet and caring mother. Nothing like my father and Vivian.

"I wouldn't have had to do anything if you didn't try to kidnap Kate and Rose. Why would you do that? " I growled

"Because that bitch Rose killed my daughter, your twin sister. She is also the reason my Mate is dead. She should never have come to Blood Moon," My mom said

"And why did you take Kate? What has she ever done to you?" I asked

"She never liked Vivian, always made her out to be the bad guy. If it weren't for Kate, Derek would have chosen Vivian as his Mate before Rose showed up. Just like your father wanted," My mom said

I had never heard my mother talk like that before. She sounded crazy.

"Mom, I need to go, but first, I want to make sure you're okay," I said

"Go where? Like I said before, Derek will kill you if you show up back on Blood Moon territory. You need to stay with me. Hanson will help us," My mom said 

"Whose Hanson?" I asked, and the same man who tried to kidnap Rose appeared out of nowhere. I looked up at him, confused

"I am Hanson,"
