Ebony's POV

"Thanks, Ebony," Alissa said as I placed some homemade Lasagna in front of her. We were on her floor, and I had decided to spend the night with her. I didn't want to leave her alone after she was shot. I could tell she was happy when I suggested having a girl's night. My phone beeped, and I took it out of my pocket to see Keith had messaged me. 

"I miss you," Keith texted and then mind-linked me.

"I miss you too," I linked back.

"Do you really have to spend the night with Alissa tonight? The bed will be cold, and I will be lonely, not being wrapped in you," Keith Linked.

"It is only for one night. I will see you tomorrow. I love you," I linked. 

"I love you too. See you tomorrow, My Love," Keith linked, and then we ended the link. I missed him so much. It was hard to be away from him already. I knew I would be thinking about him all night, but I still wanted to spend time with Alissa. She had saved my life, and I was grateful for her.

"You don't have to stay with me if you don't want to. I know you were just mind-linking, Keith. I am sure the both of you are missing each other," Alissa said 

"Don't worry about us; we will be fine. I will see him tomorrow. Right now, I want to get to know my little sister better and spend time with you. If that is okay with you," I said, and she smiled.

"That sounds great," Alissa replied. Next, we ate our food and talked. Then, we decided to put on a movie and make popcorn. 

"Dad wants you to stay here. I think when it is time for you to leave, he is going to cry," Alissa said 

"I will be sad to leave too. You all seem very kind and welcoming," I replied

"Alissa, we need to talk," Alice said when she walked inside but paused when she saw me. "I didn't know you were having a sleepover. Hello Ebony," 

"Hi Alice," I replied

"Do you mind if I steal Alissa away for a moment?" Alice asked 

"Of course not," I said 

"Thank you," Alice said, and they walked to the elevator and left the floor. I could tell Alice was mad about Alissa being hurt, and I felt she blamed me for what happened. I wouldn't blame her if she did blame me because the man was aiming for me. So in a way, it was my fault. I sighed and turned up the volume to the movie, trying to focus on that instead of my guilt.

Alissa's POV

My mom walked with me out of the castle and to her car. She drove us out of the Castle Gates before speaking. 

"Why would you jump in front of a bullet like that? You could have been killed," My mom said as she parked on the side of the road by the woods.

"What was I supposed to do, let her die?"  I asked, and she was silent. I looked at her facial expression, and then realization hit me. "You sent that man to kill her, didn't you? I asked

"Don't ask stupid questions. Why would I do that?" My mom asked

"Because you never wanted her here in the first place. You are only putting on a show for daddy, but I know how you really feel," I said 

"Stop making up assumptions," She said 

"I can't believe you, mom. How could you do that to dad? She is his daughter too," I said, and then I felt her hand go across my face causing my head to hit the window from the force she used. I looked at her in surprise. My mom has never hit me before in my life.

"I am sorry, but you don't understand what I am going through," My mom said 

"Why, Why would you want to kill Ebony?" I asked

"I don't want to kill her. I just want her gone. She is your father's bastard and never should have been born. You should have been his firstborn and the Future Queen, not her," my mom said

"Mom, she is still his daughter and firstborn. She is the only one that can be Queen," I said

"Not if we get rid of her first," 

"Mom, this isn't right," I said and was about to mind-link my dad, but then I felt something sharp go into my neck. My vision soon became blurry, and I knew my mom had injected me with wolfsbane.

'Mom, what are you doing," I slurred

"Don't worry; It is only a little wolfsbane. Nothing to cause permanent damage," I heard my mom say before darkness took over.
