Ebony's POV

"It is so boring in here," Raven said. 

"I know," I replied. It had been three days since Alissa and I went out to eat. When I arrived home, Keith and Jacob told me that a Pack Member had spotted Alice on Silvermoon Territory. Keith won't let me leave the Packhouse because he is worried Alice might try something.

I can tell that Jacob is sad about how things turned out with Alice. She is his Mate, and I can see how it affects him not being with her. He tries to act like he is fine, but I can tell he isn't.

"You want to go for a walk around the Packhouse?" Raven asked 

"That sounds good. Let me mind-link Keith and let him know I am going," I said.

"I need to talk to you, Ebonys," Jacob said as he walked into the backyard.

"What is it," I asked

"Raven, do you mind if I talk to my daughter alone?" Jacob asked

"Of course not. I am going to my room to change," Raven said 

"Okay, I will come up there when we are finished talking," I said, and she left.

"What do you want to talk about?" I asked as he sat next to me.

"The Royal Council contacted me today," Jacob said. 

"Don't tell me they asked you if I have made up my mind about becoming Queen," I said, annoyed. The Council had been calling him daily to see if I had made my decision on if I wanted to become Queen.

"Yes, that is why they contacted me, "Jacob said 

"I don't understand why they keep asking. This is like the tenth time in a week they have asked you if I am ready to become Queen. I still need time to think about it. I am not even done with high school yet," I said.

"I understand everything you are saying, but you need to understand that this is important. Our family has held the throne forever, and you are next in line. It is in your blood and your birthright to become Queen, and you need to start taking this seriously," Jacob said.

"I am taking it seriously. That is why I am thinking this through instead of making a decision that I wouldn't like. You know I wasn't born in a Royal setting. What if you are wrong, and I will make a horrible Queen?" I said

"Hey, what is going on here?" Kieth asked as he walked into the backyard.

"I was talking to Ebony about her taking her rightful place as Queen," Jacob replied.

"I thought we discussed this already. You were supposed to give Ebony time before you brought this up to her again," Keith said.

"No, you decided I should give her more time, but I am afraid time is running out. The Council is unwilling to wait much longer for Ebony to make up her mind. They want to know if she is ready to become Queen or not. They said if she isn't, then Alissa will have to take over," Jacob said 

"I thought you said that Alissa couldn't take over because I am the firstborn," I said 

"Yes, that is what I said, and it is true. You are the one that holds the Queen Aura and the ability to Rule over all the Werewolves," Jacob said 

"Then why would they want to make Alissa Queen?" I asked

"Because she is of Royal Blood because she is also my daughter. I told them they were making a mistake, but they are desperate right now," Jacob said.

"If you feel they are making a mistake, why are you listening to them? Plus, I thought Alissa didn't want to become Queen?" I said.

"I thought Alissa didn't want to become Queen too, but when they called, she was the one that answered the phone. One of the Royal Counsel members asked if she would be willing to become Queen, and she said yes," Jacob said, shocking me. I had just spoken to her a few days ago, and she told me she didn't want to become Queen.

"Why would she do that?" I asked

"I don't know, but she has been acting differently lately. She has been quieter than normal and disappearing for hours at a time. I have been telling her not to leave without her guards, but she hasn't been listening," Jacob said

"Do you think it has something to do with Alice?" Keith asked

"What are you asking me?" Jacob growled

"I was wondering if you think she might have seen her. Alice is her mother and might have tried to get into contact with Alissa after she left the castle," Keith said.

"Alissa would have told me if her mother contacted her," Jacob said 

"Are you sure about that?" Keith asked.

"Yes, I know Alissa, and she is just as upset at Alice as I am for what she did to Ebony and everyone else from the Royal Pack. She would never help Alice after everything she has done," Jacob said.

"I don't understand why you don't want to stay in your position as the Werewolf King. At least until I am finished with school," I said 

"I have thought about that, and when I told the Council that I would stay King until you finished High School, they told me that was a bad idea," Jacob said.

"Why would they say that?" I asked

"Because they are upset about what Alice did and feel like I should have known what she was doing. There are also members of the Royal Pack that feel the same way. So I have no choice but to step down as King," Jacob said.

"I didn't know they could do that," Keith said

"The people hold more power than you think. I don't blame them for feeling that way, though. If I were them, I wouldn't want me as King either," Jacob said 

"You are not the one that hurt them; Alice was," I said

"It doesn't matter. I am the King and should have known what she was up to. I let the mate bond blind me to who she really was. All I know is that you are the rightful Queen, and I believe without you taking your place, all Werewolves will suffer greatly," Jacob said 

I looked at Keith to see him already looking at me with a smile on his face. I knew he believed I would make a great Queen, and I wanted me to feel that way too. But would I make a great Queen? I wasn't sure, but hearing everything Jacob had told me, I believed I had to try. 

"Okay, I will take my place as Queen,"
