Ebony's POV

"So you told him he needed to prove himself to you?" Kayla asked

"Yes, I want to give him a chance, but he needs to show me that he can treat me right," I replied

It is lunchtime, and I am sitting outside with Kate, Kayla, and Raven. Keith wanted me to sit with him, but I decided to sit somewhere different with Kate and Kayla. Raven said she wanted to sit with us as well. Kate and Kayla didn't mind because they got along with Raven. Keith said that Kate and Kayla could sit with us like they did before but declined his offer. 

I wasn't that comfortable around his friends, most of whom were from Silver Moon. I knew that if we were going to work out, I would have to get along with the Pack, but I would worry about that later. 

"I think you did the right thing, Ebony. He has done so much to you in the past, and he needs to know that he can't get away with it. As your mate, he needs to respect you," Kate said

"I agree with Kate. He is my cousin; after hearing everything he did to you in the past, you need to put your foot down now so he knows never to do it again," Raven said

"Keith already break up with your pathetic ass?" I looked up and saw Sandy looking at me with a smirk on her face.

"What do you want?" Kate snarled

"I wanted to ask Ebony how it feels to be rejected by her mate?" Sandy replied 

I started feeling pain in my chest just thinking of Keith rejecting me. 

"He didn't reject her, Sandy," Kate replied

"Then why is she sitting here with you while Keith sits in the lunchroom with many females? It looks like he is finding his new victim. I have to go now. Try not to cry when Keith sends you back to Blood Moon," Sandy said and walked away.

"I am sure she is lying," Raven said

I stood from my seat and walked toward the cafeteria. Kate, Kayla, and Raven walked with me. I was wondering if what Sandy said was true. Were there a lot of females at his table? Once we stepped inside the cafeteria, I froze. 

Keith was sitting with his friends that he usually sat with, but two she-wolves from Silver Moon were sitting next to him. He was talking dramatically about something while the she-wolves were eyeing him like he was a piece of meat. 

"I am sure we will win the game having you as Quarterback. I can tell you work out because I can see your muscles even though you are wearing a shirt. I would like to touch them," One of the she-wolves said

"Go ahead and touch," Keith said, shocking me.

 She placed her hand on his chest. What shocked me the most was that Keith winked at her.

"You like that, don't you? Keith asked

"Yes, I do?" She replied

I felt a  pain in my chest and ran out of the lunchroom with tear-filled eyes. I couldn't believe him. He told me he would prove he wanted me, and then I walked in on him flirting with some other she-wolf. 

The pain became stronger as I walked out of the school. Finally, I couldn't help the scream that left my mouth, and then all I saw was darkness.

Keith's POV

"I don't know what to do, man. I have been trying to convince her that I have changed and am sorry for yelling at her the other day, but she is acting like she doesn't care. I feel like I am the only one that feels the mate bond," I said to Mark as we walked into the lunchroom. 

"That's fucked up, man. I can see you are trying, and she isn't paying attention to it," Mark replied

"I know; what should I do? Every day It is getting hard being away from her," I said

"Is she sitting with us today?" 

"No, she wants to sit with her friends alone," I replied

We got our lunch and sat at our seats. There were a lot of she-wolves standing around our table. Two of their eyes were on me, making me feel disgusted. I didn't want any female's eyes on me but my mates.

"You should make her jealous," Mark said

"What," I asked

"I know you see those she-wolves looking at you. Flirt with them. Sandy is watching us from the other table. I am sure she will tell Ebony, and she will come in here and get jealous," Mark said

"Are you crazy? She will kill me," I snapped.

"She will get upset and run off, and then you will go after her. You two will talk, and you will tell her she is the only one for you, and then you two will make up, and everything will be how it is supposed to be. Trust me, man," Mark said

What he said sounded good, and I began to smile.

"Hey ladies, come over here," Mark said, and they sat down on each side of me.

"Hey Keith," One of them said

"Hey," I replied

Mark and the girls talked for a while. I wasn't even paying attention. Sandy had left the lunchroom right after she saw the females sit by me. So I knew she was telling Ebony.

"Ebony is coming through the door," Mark said through mind-link

I began talking to the girls, telling them we would win the next football game. One of the girls asked to touch my muscles, and I told her she could, and she touched my chest, making me feel disgusted. 

I looked over and saw Ebony walk out of the door. Before I could follow her, Raven, Kate, and Kayla came to me, blocking my way.

"Move," I growled, wanting to go comfort my mate. I knew I hurt her and was beginning to feel it was a bad idea to flirt with those she-wolves.

"How could you, Keith? You are going to mess with those bitches when you have a mate," Kate said, and SHe and Kayla ran the way Ebony went.

"You don't deserve her, cous," Raven said, and suddenly, I felt a pain in my chest that caused me to worry.

I didn't respond to her comment. Instead, I ran toward the way Ebony ran, needing to explain myself to her. 

For some reason, I felt something terrible had just happened.
