Jason's POV

"Are you okay, bro?" Mark asked

"I'm fine," I lied as I walked into the room where Cindy was being held.

After finding her in the house where Cheryl and Chloe were holding Rose, I was furious. Why would my mate be there with the enemy? I knew Cindy lied to me when she said she had been kidnapped. I knew she was helping them, and now I needed to find out why.

When I arrived in front of the room Cindy was in, My father was waiting for me by the door.

"What are you doing here?" I asked confused

"I told your mother that I will accompany you while you interrogate Cindy," He said, and I rolled my eyes.

"I can do it myself," I said

"I know you can, son, but she is your mate, and Your mother thinks it is best for me to go with you," 

"Why? Do you not trust me?" I asked

"Of course we trust you," 

"Rose is my sister, and I would never let anyone hurt her," I said angrily

"Just let us go with you so that your mom doesn't worry," Mark said

"Fine, let's go," I said, and we walked into the room.

"Jason, you are here," Cindy said

"I have some questions for you," I replied

"I didn't have anything to do with your sister being kidnapped. I swear," She said. 

I wanted to believe her, but I knew she was lying. 

"You need to tell the truth, Cindy. Why would you help them?" I asked

"I didn't help them," She responded, and I had enough.

"You need to tell me the truth," She said, and I couldn't help but hit the table, causing her to flinch.

"Maybe we should take a break," Mark said

"That is a good idea. Why don't you take Jason outside for some air," My dad said, and I was thankful

I stood up and walked out of the room. I couldn't stay in there with her right now. I didn't understand why she would betray me like that. Why would she want to hurt my sister when she was my mate?

Max's POV

I sat down where Jason had been sitting

"Thank You," Cindy said

"I didn't do anything for you," I said as I stared at her. I could tell I was making her nervous.

"I didn't help them kidnap Rose. They kidnapped me too," She said

"So you were in the same house but didn't see her. That house is really small for you to not have heard anyone else in there," I said

She didn't respond and kept looking at her hands. 

"You know that when a person can't look someone in the eye, it means they are guilty,"

"I didn't do anything," She responded.

"You know that Chloe and I are not really mates," I asked, and Cindy nodded.

"She put some potion into my drink and made me believe we were mates. I lived a lie for sixteen years, and she didn't even like me. I know that she has a problem with Lilly, but I don't understand why someone would want to live a lie. She didn't only hurt me but also herself staying with me for all those years," I said

Cindy just looked at me, not saying a word. 

"Will you tell me, Cindy? Why would someone drug someone to make them believe they are mates?" I asked

"I don't know what you are talking about," She said nervously

"I think you do," I replied

There was nothing but silence. I looked at her knowing that what I had been thinking was true.

"I have been watching you and my son together, Cindy. Do you want to know what I have observed," I asked her and stood from my seat

"What have you observed," Cindy asked 

"That you two remind me of Chloe and me,"

"What are you talking about?"

"At first, I fell for your lies. The two of you were inseparable, but then I noticed that changed. You two didn't seem as close as you did at first like the bond was getting weaker," I said and then looked at her. She was so nervous she was sweating. I knew I had her now.

"The only way a bond would weaken is if it wasn't real. Do you know what I think? I think that you drugged my son and made him believe that he was your mate," I said

"No, I didn't," She said

"Do you know that Alpha Michael has cameras everywhere? What if I told you that I have proof of what you did? Do you know the punishment would be death? If you don't tell me, you will die," I said, and she broke down.

"I am sorry, it wasn't my idea. Unfortunately, beta Jacob and Vivian threatened that if I didn't do it, they would kill my family," She cried.

"If you didn't do what?" I heard Jason say

I looked up, and Mark and Jason were at the door.

"Jason," I said

"What's going on?"Jason asked

"Come sit down, son. Cindy has something she needs to tell you," I said, and Cindy told him everything about Cheryl and Chloe's plan and how they drugged him to make him believe they were mates.
