Rose Bailey: My Mate, My Flower Chapter 26

Lilly POV (Rose's Mom)

Never in my life did I think I would see Max again. He was the only man I have ever loved and the one that betrayed me. I thought he loved me too but was wrong. Looking back at how we started makes me wonder how we could have ended terribly.

I was nineteen years old when I met Max at a party. He was twenty and had just started training as a Beta for the Silver Moon Pack. Lisa had seen him constantly because of the treaty within packs. I wasn't allowed to visit any pack because I was a witch. 

Alpha Michael's Mother, Mary, had found me in the woods by the Pack border when I was a baby. At first, they believed I was human, but we discovered I was a powerful witch as I grew older. When we found out, Mary and Ben, Michael's father, said that we must keep this a secret due to werewolf laws banding witches from packs.

Alpha Ben,  my father, made it his life mission to change that law against witches. He was successful, but with exception first, The Alpha of each Pack decided whether to accept witches in their Pack or not.

Max's father hates witches passionately, and I doubt that will ever change. When Max and I were together, when Alpha Edward's father was the Alpha of the Silvermoon pack, he kept witches banned from their Pack.

Max had just become Beta when we met, and we had to hide our relationship. He told me that was the reason he couldn't mark me. Now I know it's because I was never his mate. All that time, he had been lying to me. 

After three children, he left me to raise them on my own. He told me he didn't want anything to do with me or my children. Then, he said he was wrong, and I was never his mate. He had finally found his mate and didn't need my children or me anymore. After that, he walked out the door and out of our lives.

Two weeks later, I decided to leave with my children. There was no reason to stay here anymore, and I needed to get away from the memory of Max. So now here I am, sitting on a bench by the lake.  

"I knew you would remember!" I heard that voice I hadn't heard in years. It upset me that his voice still made me weak in the knees. 

I looked over at him. He still looked the same besides the gray hairs; he looked good for his age.

He walked over to the bench and sat beside me. 

"Hi, Lil! Thank you for meeting with me. I believe it is about time that we talked.

Max's POV

"So you're finally going to see Lilly again?" Edward asked as I was walking out of my office.

"Yes! We have lots to talk about." I said and

"Yeah, you do. Well, Goodluck!" 

I walked outside and went to the woods. I changed into my wolf brown wolf and ran to our old spot by the lake. After about ten minutes, I was there. I shifted back and put on some clothes I had hidden earlier. 

I knew she was here before I saw her. She still smelled like roses and honey and was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I watched her for a moment as she looked out at the water.

"I knew you would remember," I said, causing her to look up at me. She looked me up and down. She was checking me out.

I walked over to her and sat next to her on the old bench.

"Hi, Lil! Thank you for meeting with me. I believe it about time that we talked."

"Yes, we do. How bout you tell me why you would tell my kids that I just left you? You were the one that told me you had found your mate and that you didn't want any of us anymore."

I looked at her, confused. The last time I saw her, we argued because of my father. We went to my father's house, and he told me in front of Lilly to choose between being Beta or her. She felt I didn't stand up to my father, and we argued. I left that night to calm down. I don't remember what happened next, but I woke up the next day in the pack hospital.

"I never told you that, Lilly. I never had a conversation with you about Chloe."

"Yes, you did. You told me that Chloe had your son and was your mate."

"No, I didn't."

"Did you sleep with her while you were with me?"

I froze for a moment, not knowing how to explain what happened with Cloe. Yes, she had my son while I was with Lilly, but I didn't even remember sleeping with her.

"That's what I thought," She said

"You are right; I do have a son with Cloe. He is the same age as Jason, but I don't remember sleeping with her. She came about one week before you left and told me about him. I didn't want to lose you, so I kept it a secret. I was trying to figure out a way to say to you. I promise I didn't know.

"I don't believe you," She said and stood up to leave

I reached for her hand and touched it. It sent sparks and tingles all over me. I felt something that I hadn't felt since she left. I felt alive. 

How could she still feel that good, just by a single touch? I haven't felt any of this with Chloe. Something is not correct. Then the weird shock was when I heard my wolf say inside my head, "Mate!"

Shocked by the feeling that came over me, I let her arm go, and she ran away. 

I have to get to the bottom of this.
