Keith's POV

"Ebony, wake up," I heard Kate scream as I got close to the school entrance. 

I began to run faster to see what had happened. Once I made it outside, I saw Kate standing over Ebony, who was unconscious.

"What happened to her?" I growled as I ran to my mate's side

"I don't know when we made it out here she was like that," Kate said

I picked her up bridal style and took her back inside the school, heading to the nurse's office. The nurse looked at me, shocked.

"She passed out outside of the school," I said, and the nurse got up and headed to a room. I followed after her and placed Ebony on the bed once we were in a room. Kate and Kayla walked behind me into the room.

The nurse checked her vitals before speaking.

"Do you know what happened before she passed out?" 

"She ran out of the cafeteria because Keith was flirting with two she-wolves when she walked in," Kate said

The nurse looked at me with a shocked expression on her face.

"The two of you are mates, right?" The nursed asked

"Yes, we are," I replied

"And you were flirting with two she-wolves in front of her?"

"Yes, he was," Kate said before I could answer.

"It isn't what you think. I was trying to make her jealous, so she would talk to me. I thought it would help us when she saw me with them," I replied 

"So you thought the best way to do that was to mess around with other females?" Kate snarled

"I didn't mess around with them. I was, I don't know what I was thinking," I admitted

"Well, she is fine. She just passed out from the pain of seeing you with another female. She should wake up soon," the nurse said and turned to leave the room.

Before she left, she turned back and looked me in the eye.

"It would be best to find a better way to get your mate's attention. Seeing you with other females will only make her pull away from you more," the nurse said and walked out the door.

Ebony's POV

"You need to leave," I heard Kate say as I woke up.

"I am not going anywhere," Keith replied

A warm hand was holding mine, sending tingles through it. I opened my eyes and saw Keith sitting next to me.

"You are the reason she is in here," Kate said

"I know, and I am sorry. I didn't know this would happen. I just wanted her to feel the mate bond," Keith said

I wondered what they were talking about, and the realization hit me as I remember seeing Keith in the cafeteria with two she-wolves. I began to feel a pain in my chest and groaned from the pain. Keith looked at me with a worried look on his face.

"Ebony, are you okay?" He asked 

I didn't reply to his question. I was upset that he would let another female touch him. He was mine and nobody else. I sat up and removed my hand from his. His facial expression changed to a sad one, but he tried to cover it up.

"How are you feeling?" Keith asked 

"How do you think she is feeling?" Kate said, but he ignored her

The nurse walked in before he could say anything else.

"Good, you are up. How are you feeling, sweetheart?" the nurse asked.

"I am fine, but my head and chest hurt a little," I replied, noticing Keith's body tense up.

"Well, that is to be expected. You will feel that pain for a while, but it should go away as long as there aren't any other events to trigger it," The nurse said, looking at Keith. I could see the regret in his expression.

"What happened to me?" I asked, and the nurse was silent.

"I think that is something you should discuss with your mate over there," She said, looking at Keith.

"I will tell you what happened," Kate said, but Kayla put her hand over her mouth and began taking her out of the room. 

"We will leave the two of you to talk," Kayla said, and they walked out of the room.

I looked over at Keith to see him already looking at me. He cleared his throat before he began to speak.

"I am so sorry, Ebony," Keith said, and I rolled my eyes.

"For what exactly are you sorry for?" I asked

"Everything, but I am talking about you passing out because I wanted to make you jealous. I thought that if I flirted with those she-wolves in front of you, you would realize that you have a feeling for me. I didn't know it would cause you so much pain," he said

"So you thought that was the way to get me to want you?" I asked pissed

"I know it sounds stupid now. I shouldn't have listened to Mark. Please give me a chance to make this right," He said, and I couldn't take it anymore.

"I have been giving you a chance to make it right, and you go and flirt with she-wolves in front of the entire school and me," I said

"I know, and I am sorry,"

"You are always sorry, but nothing changes. You don't respect me, and I honestly don't think you will ever be able to respect me," I said

"Don't say that, Love. I promise from now on I will treat you the way I should have always treated you," He said, causing me to laugh.

"You have said that more than once, but look where we are. I think that I need  some space from you," I said

"What do you mean," Keith asked

"I am going to stay in a different room. Until you learn how to treat me, we can't be together," I said. The word hurt as they left my lips, but I had to do what was right for me, and I knew this was it.

"Ebony, please," he started, but I cut him off.

"No, I have made my decision; I will tell Nancy when I get back home that I want to change rooms. I can't stay in the same room with someone that doesn't respect me," 

"But," 

"I want you to leave," I said. Keith looked at me for a moment and then sighed.

"I will leave, but I am not giving up. I will prove to you that I have changed," Keith said and walked out of the room.

I couldn't stop the tears from falling from my eyes.
