Alpha's Twins Chapter 100
Adrian's POV
I'd spent the entire day trapped in meetings with Alpha Wade. We'd hammered out the details in the conference room and finally signed the papers to seal the deal.
Alpha Wade was thrilled with the project. Everyone assumed I'd scored big with this contract. But the truth? Alpha Wade was the one who came out ahead. I'd basically handed him the deal on a silver platter, offering my pack's fighters as backup if his people ever found themselves in trouble. All to keep the peace.
"Thank you so much, Alpha Adrian. This is going to be an incredible partnership. I hope you'll keep an eye on my younger brother."
"Sure," I replied, glancing over at Alpha Seth. The guy looked calm and calculating. He might be older than me, but he didn't have nearly as much experience under his belt.
When the meeting wrapped up, Alpha Wade invited me to some celebration party.
"I'm not interested in a party," I told him straight up.
I wasn't in the mood to celebrate anything. This project might be a dream come true for other packs, but not for me. I had zero enthusiasm for toasting this deal.
"Oh, my apologies for organizing something without running it by you first. It's just a small gathering of the pack company CEOs. I've already sent out invitations, and everyone's accepted."
I froze when he said 'everyone.'
"Is she coming too?" I muttered, but he caught it.
"She? Who are you talking about?"
Patric was sitting next to me and couldn't help but chuckle. "He's asking about CEO Natalia."
Patric shot me a look that I completely ignored. Alpha Wade laughed when he heard the clarification.
"Of course she's coming. Beta Eric told me Miss Natalia accepted the invitation and will be there on time."
I raised an eyebrow, thinking to myself. 'Isn't she supposed to be heartbroken? How can she just show up to a celebration?'
"I'll tell you one thing – if you hadn't presented your proposal right after hers, we probably would've given the contract to her pack company. She's brilliant and knows how to negotiate. That woman has a bright future ahead of her." Alpha Wade was full of praise for her.
Alpha Seth nodded along. "By the way, I couldn't believe it when I heard Alpha Jason had a sister. Word is she fought her way to the top of that pack company. I was impressed when I first heard about it. But I had no idea she was so... stunning. She's absolutely gorgeous."
I turned to stare at Alpha Seth. His eyebrows shot up when he noticed my intense gaze.
Alpha Wade jumped in to address his brother. "Alpha Adrian has quite the admiration for her, Seth. Actually, I think it goes way beyond admiration. You might want to keep your eyes to yourself."
Alpha Seth nodded quickly. "I had no idea Alpha Adrian was pursuing her. If I'd known, I never would've even looked in her direction."
Patric cleared his throat and stood up, patting my shoulder. "Alpha, we need to discuss something. Let's head back to the hotel."
I got up from my chair and nodded to Alpha Wade. I completely ignored Alpha Seth and walked out of the pack company with Patric.
"Dude, you just completely blew off that pack's head Alpha," Patric said, shaking his head.
"He doesn't deserve my respect."
"Why? Just because he was talking about Natalia Hansley?" Patric asked, rolling his eyes.
I glared at him, but he didn't stop.
"Come on, Adrian. It's been weeks since you got those DNA results about her daughter. You said you hated her. So what's the deal? Why are you keeping tabs on her? What are you even doing?"
"I don't owe anyone an explanation," I muttered, looking away from him.
It was true – I'd been watching her every move. This whole deal was just an excuse to see her again. I didn't know why, but I couldn't get her out of my head.
"You know she's got kids with another man. As a head Alpha, you can't just accept some other guy's children."
I heard Patric's words and clenched my jaw at his comment.
"I haven't thought about that," I replied.
"Oh, please. Stop lying to yourself, Adrian. You're in love with that woman. No sane person would stalk their ex-wife when they know she's got a new boyfriend. Having someone else's kids is even more–"
I turned to glare at him, cutting him off mid-sentence.
"Can you just shut the hell up? How long are you going to keep throwing her children in my face?"
"Why do you want to forget about it? You need to know what you're getting yourself into. Don't tell me you're so head-over-heels that you're ready to accept her twins."
I growled at him. The driver got so spooked by my sudden outburst that he slammed on the brakes in the middle of the road.
I threw open the door and got out of the car, slamming it shut and glaring at Patric through the window.
"Stop making up stories, Beta Patric. I don't love her. I hate that woman with every fiber of my being. The sooner you understand that, the better it'll be for everyone. Go back to the hotel without me. Don't follow me."
I turned and started walking down the street. The car sat there for a moment before other drivers started honking, forcing our driver to get moving again.
I ignored everything around me. People kept staring as I walked past. I was losing my damn mind.
Suddenly, some girl bumped into me. I looked at her – probably a college student.
"Sorry about that, mister," she apologized.
I nodded and kept walking without giving her a second glance.
"He's so hot! Why didn't he turn around to check you out? You're like the prettiest girl in this whole pack," I heard another girl say to the one who'd bumped into me. Their voices faded behind me, and I ignored them completely.
Beauty didn't matter to me. I wasn't some player anyway. Hell, even though Lynda was gorgeous, I never slept with her.
There was a reason for that.
I couldn't look at her the way I used to look at someone else.
That's when my wolf decided to chime in.
"Just admit it already. You fell for your mate."
