Alpha's Twins Chapter 200
I looked away from him, my grip tightening slightly on the glass. I could feel the pressure building in my fingers. The last thing I wanted was to shatter it and let him see the mess I was inside.
My chest clenched when I thought back to that night—the night of the war.
I'd gone to the Blue Blood Pack for one reason: to save Natalia. The second I heard someone was trying to wipe out her family, all I could think about was her getting caught in the crossfire. In my mind, she was just a defenseless omega who wouldn't stand a chance in a war.
That night, I finally admitted something to myself—how badly I wanted her. And it wasn't just the mate bond pulling at me.
Five years. Five years of her haunting my thoughts every single night.
The truth? I regretted it. Every damn night.
"Adrian, are you even listening to me?"
I tipped the glass back and downed the wine in one gulp.
When I stood up, Dad's eyebrows shot up.
"Dad, don't read too much into it."
I was halfway to the door when his voice stopped me cold.
"I saw how you looked at her at the pack party. You can't lie to me, son. I know you better than anyone."
I squeezed my eyes shut and took a deep breath.
"I wanted her as my daughter-in-law because I thought she could handle you. I still think I made the right call—didn't ruin your life. I picked what was best for you."
I turned around to face him. He got up from the couch, like he'd seen something in my expression that spooked him.
I had no idea why he looked so rattled. What the hell had he seen in my face?
"You're right. I regr—"
A knock at the door cut me off just as I was about to admit I regretted the divorce.
I walked over and opened it. Patrick stood there, holding up my phone.
"It's Doctor Harold," he said. That's when I realized I'd left my phone behind.
Dad came over, wanting to hear what was going on. I could see the doubt eating away at him. I wondered why he didn't trust Lynda. I knew it had to be her. She'd been with me for over six years. I had complete faith in her. I was the one who found her, after all.
"Put it on speaker," I told Patrick.
He answered the call, gave me a quick nod, then switched to speakerphone.
Harold's voice crackled through immediately.
"Alpha."
