Alpha's Twins Chapter 257
Adrian slowly turned his head and looked down at Noah. His eyes had gone dark—if Noah weren't just a little boy, he probably would've beaten him senseless.
Max looked surprised too. He clearly hadn't expected one of them to say something like that.
Adrian grabbed Noah's hand. "You're running your mouth too much. Time for me to discipline my own son."
My eyes went wide as I reached for Noah's hand, trying to stop Adrian from dragging him away.
But Max caught my wrist and held me back. "Don't worry. He won't actually hurt his son. He's a successful Alpha—he knows what Noah's worth." He paused. "After all, Noah's the heir to this pack."
I watched helplessly as Adrian dragged Noah into a corner. Noah turned back to look at me, and seeing the desperation in his eyes made tears well up in mine.
Max let go of my hand when his phone rang. I glanced over and saw it was his head Alpha calling.
He answered the call.
"Alpha."
I could hear what his Alpha was saying since the phone was close to me.
"Apologize to Alpha Adrian for me. I couldn't make it to his kids' birthday party—my Luna's sick."
"Of course, Alpha."
"I'm sending my beta to the party instead. Please receive him when he gets there. He's bringing birthday presents."
Max turned toward the door to see if his pack's beta had arrived yet.
"Let me go check, Alpha."
He hung up and looked at me. "Our beta should be here any minute. I'm going to see if he's arrived."
"Sure," I said, nodding.
Max walked away from me, heading toward the entrance.
I felt someone tugging on my dress. I looked down and saw Aria staring up at me with tears in her eyes.
I immediately scooped her up and wiped her tears away.
"Baby, don't cry."
She wrapped her arms around my neck and whispered through her sobs, "Mommy, please go tell daddy not to punish Noah."
I froze. I glanced toward the corner where Adrian had taken Noah.
"I won't let him hurt your brother."
After telling her to stay with her friends, I set her back down.
The guests shot me sideways glances, but I ignored them. I pushed past them and headed in the direction I'd seen Adrian go.
I hated that man so much right now I could've killed him.
How dare he scare my children like that?
I walked through a hallway. I didn't really know my way around this pack house—in two years of marriage, I'd only come here for family dinners a handful of times.
Desperate to find Noah, I looked around frantically.
When I spotted several doors, I realized Adrian must have taken Noah into one of those rooms.
As I moved toward the rooms, I heard Noah's voice. When I caught what he was saying to Adrian, I froze completely.
"We were so happy without you. Why did you have to come into our lives?"
