Alpha's Twins Chapter 66

I lifted my left hand and squeezed Jason's sleeve.

"Jason!"

Harold turned to look at my brother.

"Of course not, Alpha Jason. I would never go after the Blue Blood Pack princess. She's my friend, and I'm lucky to have that."

Harold glanced at me one last time with a small smile before leaving the room.

I felt terrible for Harold. I knew he'd never thought of me that way. He was my personal doctor—he knew everything about my health and took care of me because of it. He had such a good heart that he'd helped me hide the truth about my children from their father.

"Why do you look upset? Do you like him?" my brother asked.

I pulled my hand away from his sleeve. "What? No. But he's a really good friend. He was the first person to help me hide everything from Adrian. I told you that, remember?"

Jason sat on the edge of the bed. "That's why I respect him. But as a guy, I can tell when another man's interested."

"You think he likes me?"

He chuckled and pinched my cheek. "Who doesn't like you? You're my adorable little sister."

"Ow! Stop!" I swatted his hand away—my cheek stung from his pinch.

"Okay, okay, sorry. Now get ready. We're leaving right now."

Jason stood up, his serious expression returning. I wondered if all Alphas had these mood swings—they always seemed so cold. Maybe they just tried to show their intimidating side so people would fear and obey them.

After Jason left the room, he sent in the head nurse to help me. She assisted me with the new clothes Jason had his driver pick up for me earlier.

Getting dressed was a bit challenging, but thankfully it didn't take too long.

Jason came back to get me. He put one arm around my shoulders and held my hand with his other.

Everyone around us was staring. I ignored their looks, though they reminded me of Adrian's accusations.

The more I thought about it, the more my heart ached.

"Natalia!"

I heard Adrian's mother's voice as Jason and I walked through the lobby toward the main entrance.

We stopped and turned toward her.

"Mrs. Miller," Jason greeted her.

She nodded at him, then looked at me.

Her eyes widened when she saw my bandaged head. She walked over and pulled me into a hug.

"What happened to you, Natalia? I thought you left the pack last night."

I smiled at her gentle tone. "I'm okay, Grace. It's just a small injury."

Jason stood beside me, watching Grace Miller carefully. I knew my brother well enough to recognize that look—the way he was studying Adrian's mother so calmly told me he didn't like her much. Because she was Adrian's mother. He'd greeted her politely only because of his position. As an Alpha, he had to show respect to former Alphas and Lunas.

"Where are you going?" she asked, breaking the hug and glancing at Jason.

"I'm leaving the pack."

"But you don't look well. Please stay a few more days and rest."

Jason raised an eyebrow at her request. Before he could respond, I spoke up.

"No, Grace. Thanks for asking, but I can't stay here anymore. I need to go back to the Blue Blood Pack."

She nodded with a disappointed expression. "Take care of yourself, then."

"How is Alpha Lucas? I heard Natalia helped with his recovery," Jason asked.

"Yes, she came into our lives like a miracle. She helped us and saved my husband. He's still under observation."

I listened as Grace talked about Alpha Lucas. I was glad I could help him.

"We're running late, Mrs. Miller. Nice meeting you," Jason said, wrapping his arm around my shoulder again.

I smiled at Grace and said goodbye. Jason didn't give her time to ask anything else.

"That loser and his family are bad news. If they hadn't forced you to stay here, maybe you wouldn't have had this accident," Jason muttered while helping me into the backseat of his car.

"Jason, please. Lucas and Grace are good people. They treat me like their own daughter."

"Sure they do," he said sarcastically.

After getting in and sitting beside me, he told his driver to start the car.

I looked around for my purse, which I'd left in my car last night.

Jason followed my gaze. "They gave me your bag when I signed your discharge papers."

I unlocked my phone with my left hand. Immediately, I saw a bunch of missed calls on the screen.

My parents, Jason, Eric, and my kids—everyone had called me.

Jason glanced at my phone. "Don't worry. I told everyone I was bringing you home."

"What about Aria and Noah? Did you tell them about my accident?"

"No."

"Thanks."

He sighed, looking out at the passing scenery.

The drive from Crystal Blood Pack to Blue Blood Pack was long.

I closed my eyes and leaned back in my seat. We'd left Crystal Blood territory long ago. It was already late at night as we headed toward our pack house.

"How did you get out of the car?" Jason asked. He hadn't brought up the accident all day, like he didn't want me to relive it.

I took a moment to answer. "Adrian rescued me."

Jason went quiet. He clearly wasn't happy with my answer, but it was the truth. I couldn't lie.

After a while, he spoke again.

"Eric was worried about you. He wanted to come when he heard about your accident. I stopped him."

I opened my eyes and murmured, "He's a caring person."

Jason turned to me, his voice dropping. "He doesn't care about anyone else the way he cares about you."
