Alpha's Twins Chapter 89
Patrick stared at Lynda like he couldn't believe she'd shown up here and crashed our conversation.
"Why do you need to know everything?" Patrick snapped at her.
Lynda shot him a dirty look. "Why are you acting like this toward me? You didn't even listen to me that night—you just dragged me back to this pack."
From what she was saying, I could tell Lynda had wanted to stay with the Blue Blood Pack, but Patrick forced her to come back here.
"Alpha's orders," Patrick replied.
"And I'm going to be your Alpha's Luna."
Her voice didn't even waver when she said it.
I didn't like hearing her call herself my Luna. Why did that bother me? Wasn't I the one who promised her that position years ago?
"Lyn—"
"No, Adrian. You need to tell him who I am to you. He always treats me like garbage. He has zero respect for me." Lynda whined to me about Patrick like some bratty kid.
Patrick shot her a warning look. Lynda thought he was this calm, collected guy. He was my best friend, and Lynda was my girlfriend, so he always tried to keep his cool around her.
"Shut it. I'm already losing my mind over something else," he warned her.
Lynda started crying and grabbed my arm. "See how he talks to me right in front of you? He's not even scared of you."
Patrick rolled his eyes like he thought she was putting on an act.
But honestly, Lynda wasn't that type. She was just... emotional.
I patted her shoulder. "Don't cry. He's just stressed about something."
"Something? You know either outcome could flip everything upside down, right? Nothing's going to be the same after this. I'm asking you one more time, Adrian. Are you absolutely sure about this?" Patrick pressed me.
"Yeah, I'm sure."
He nodded and walked out of my house.
Meanwhile, Lynda looked completely lost. When I headed to my room to grab my phone, she followed me.
"Adrian, what were you two talking about?"
"You don't need to know," I said, leaving my room with my phone.
As I headed for the door, she grabbed my arm.
"You always do this. Do you have any idea how humiliated I felt when you ditched me outside that party hall? What am I to you? You never even acknowledge me in front of other people."
I was already losing it, and her questions were just adding to the chaos in my head.
"If you can't handle being with me like this, then just leave. I won't stop you."
I opened the door.
She rushed up and hugged me from behind.
"Why are you saying this, Adrian? Don't you love me anymore?"
I had no answer for her. She let go and moved in front of me.
She cupped my face and made me look at her.
Her eyes filled with tears, which made me feel sorry for her. But it wasn't the same feeling I got when I saw tears in Natalia's eyes.
"I'm an orphan. I have nobody in this world except you. If you're talking about leaving me, you're basically talking about killing me. Is that what you want?"
She dropped her hands from my face when I didn't answer. She wiped her tears, sobbing. My eyes caught the scar on her hand.
I closed my eyes as old memories started haunting me. I couldn't forget that I was alive today because of her.
I opened my eyes and looked at her. She seemed so fragile. I had to protect her. I owed her everything. I had to remember that.
"Don't cry. I'm not leaving you."
She hugged me like her whole mood had just flipped from hearing those words.
After calming her down for a while, I headed to my company to get back to work.
---
Two days passed, and I kept myself buried in work to avoid thinking about Natalia.
Today was the day the doctor would send me the results. I felt this weird sense of anticipation when I thought about it.
As my mind kept drifting to them, I started feeling this growing sense of responsibility.
But my thoughts got all jumbled up whenever I started thinking about Natalia. More than those kids, I was thinking about her.
It was like I was only thinking about those children because of her.
I just couldn't get her out of my head.
Her new look, her confidence, everything about her was messing with my mind.
While I was lost in thought, my phone buzzed with a message. It was from my mom.
She'd gone to the pack hospital with my dad for his checkup today.
"Harold says your father is perfectly fine. Lynda was with us at the hospital today too. I think she really cares about you, Adrian. She's trying so hard to win your dad over."
I locked my phone after reading my mom's message. I wasn't really paying attention to what she said—I was waiting for something else.
I heard a knock, and Patrick walked into my office before I could tell him to come in.
He looked just as anxious as I felt. This guy was my best friend. I could see in his eyes that he cared about me and my life.
I noticed he was holding a white envelope. He handed it to me and said,
"Here's the report. I didn't open it. You should read it first."
I nodded, tore open one corner of the envelope, and pulled out the report.
For the first time in my life, I was nervous about reading something.
I opened the report, and my eyes immediately landed on the bold red letters.
My face twisted with rage.
"Negative?"
