Alpha's Twins Chapter 229
Adrian's POV
She didn't even let me finish before hanging up on me. My blood was boiling with rage. Not because of how she ended the call, but because of what she'd said.
Why did she always try to manipulate me by bringing up another man?
I hurled my phone onto the desk and grabbed my cigarette pack. I pulled one out and lit it up.
My mind kept circling back to how pissed off I'd gotten when she told me she was with Eric.
Wasn't Eric slowly dying in the Blue Blood Pack anyway?
He used to be a beta in another pack, but now he was one of my pack members. I had a dozen ways to kill him. If that bastard so much as looked at Natalia again, I'd rip his soul right out of his body.
Natalia's words kept echoing in my head. Then I heard a knock at the door.
"Come in."
My secretary walked into the office and bowed his head.
"Alpha."
"Where is he?"
He swallowed hard, keeping his head down. I was asking about the employee who'd directed Natalia to the meeting room.
"Alpha, he's running a high fever. He's so scared that..."
"Scared of what? Dying?"
He looked up, saw the fury on my face, then immediately bowed again.
"Please forgive him, Alpha. Miss Natalia asked him where you were. He just answered her question. He didn't mean any harm."
"And where the hell were you?" I asked through gritted teeth.
"I was in the bathroom."
"Bullshit."
He flinched. I wasn't even getting satisfaction from people's fear anymore. It had become routine. What really pissed me off was that Natalia had to deal with that humiliation.
I'd specifically told my assistant to have her wait in my office.
"You're fired."
His head shot up, face going pale. "Alpha, I'm so sorry. Please don't fire me."
I stared at him, studying his panicked expression. He'd been my assistant for over three years.
"Tell that other guy he's fired too. He might not survive his fever anyway. He doesn't need to show up here again."
My assistant exhaled with relief, like a weight had been lifted off his chest. He'd been terrified I was going to fire him too.
"Alpha, I'll let him know."
He stepped forward to hand me a file he'd come to discuss, then turned to leave.
"Where's Theta Emon?"
He stopped mid-step and turned back around.
"Should I call him over?"
I took a long drag from my cigarette before answering.
"Tell him to bring that woman to me. I want her at my house tonight."
He knew exactly which woman I meant.
"Yes, Alpha."
He left my office, closing the door behind him.
As I smoked, my thoughts drifted back to Natalia. I needed to do something about her anger toward me.
But first, I had some digging to do into the past.
