Alpha's Twins Chapter 146

His question hit me like a slap. What was he getting at? What did he think I was doing with his gamma?

I glanced over at Benjamin and noticed his shirt was hanging open. The way I was positioned in front of him—yeah, I could see how someone might jump to conclusions.

Benjamin shot up from the bed and dropped his head, looking scared as hell. I could practically feel the fear radiating off him.

"I was just healing his wound," I said, refusing to meet Adrian's eyes.

He stepped into the room, muttering under his breath, "Healing how, exactly?"

My jaw dropped as it finally clicked what he was implying. I snapped my head up to stare at him.

"It's my blood. My blood heals wounds. I was trying to help him, that's all."

Benjamin nodded quickly, backing me up. He gestured toward Adrian's injury. "Alpha, she could heal your wounds too. Her blood's like a miracle cure."

I shot Benjamin a look. When the hell did I ever say I wanted to help Adrian? Why was he volunteering me?

But Adrian didn't give me a chance to refuse. Instead of asking for my help, he turned to his gamma and said,

"I don't need her help. Let it scar. Maybe then I'll never forget what a traitor she is."

I ignored his dig and walked out. I practically stormed down the hallway, my feet carrying me away from his toxic presence.

When I entered Jason's room, I found my parents sitting on the couches. The kids were awake, rubbing their eyes like they'd just gotten up.

I noticed food spread out on the coffee table. Where had that come from?

"Some guards brought it," Mom explained. "They said we should eat and pack our things as soon as possible."

I looked at Dad. He'd been the alpha of our pack for almost thirty years—a proud, strong man.

Seeing him with his head down like that broke my heart. I'd never seen him look so defeated.

I rushed over and dropped to my knees, wrapping my arms around him. I pressed my face against his shoulder.

"I'm so sorry you have to go through this."

His hand shook as he patted my back. "Maybe we did something wrong in the past. Otherwise, why would we be suffering like this?"

I grabbed his trembling hands. "Everything's going to be okay. I promise."

Mom broke down completely when she saw how broken Dad was.

"Natalia, just promise me you'll save your brother. That's all we want. We can live in poverty, but we can't lose one of our children."

I nodded, meeting her eyes. "I'll do whatever it takes to save him, Mom. Jason's going to be fine. I'll find a cure, no matter what."

As I turned to look at Jason, my mind raced, trying to think of who could help me.

Only one name came to mind.

Max Harrison.
