Alpha's Twins Chapter 166
I slowly pulled back, my wolf's voice echoing in my head as I heard him say "healer."
My wolf kept insisting I'd become a healer someday, which I totally didn't buy. Maybe if I actually had this mark on my body, I could consider it.
I caught Max staring at me again. His intense, lingering gaze made me nervous.
Was something wrong with him?
I cleared my throat and stood up. "I think I can help with that headache. Let me make you some coffee."
I turned to go, but he grabbed my hand.
When I looked back, he had his head down on the table again.
"If you really want to help, just get me to my car. I need to get back to the hotel."
I thought about it for a second. He'd been such a gentleman that night when I was drunk, taking care of me. Now it was my turn to help him.
Besides, I couldn't afford to lose touch with him. He might be my brother's only hope.
"Okay, let's go."
I pulled his arm around my shoulder and helped him up. He wasn't unconscious, just drunk, so at least he wasn't dead weight.
We stumbled to the counter where I grabbed my keys, then made our way out of the coffee shop.
I locked up and asked Max, "Where's your car?"
"I don't know," he mumbled.
Great. Just great. The guy was wasted, it was dark out, and I had no clue where his car was. What was I supposed to do now?
I looked left, then right, and just started walking left with him.
I had absolutely no idea where I was going. And with every step, he seemed to get heavier.
"Don't pass out on me. Otherwise we'll be wandering around all night."
He actually laughed at that, like some kind of maniac. I sighed and decided to call a cab.
I tried to get him to stand up straight, but he just collapsed against me. I almost went down too, but somehow managed to keep us both upright.
How the hell was I supposed to call a taxi like this?
I looked around - not a cab in sight. I was starting to lose hope when I glanced up at him.
He was so tall that my head barely reached his chest.
I felt my cheeks heat up when I realized how close we were.
He'd been my mentor for so long. I'd always dreamed of meeting him, and I'd even had the chance twice before. But this time felt like fate.
"Max, can you hear me?"
"Mm?"
I didn't waste the opportunity. I asked him the question I'd been dying to ask all month.
"I need your help. My brother's sick. Will you help him?"
He stayed quiet, like he wasn't even listening. I was about to ask again when a car pulled up behind us.
Someone got out and walked over.
"Doctor Max?"
That deep voice made me spin around immediately.
Standing there was the man I hadn't seen in over a month. The ruthless bastard I hated most in this world.
Adrian.
