Alpha's Twins Chapter 79

5 min 30.7K views

On my way back to the party, I scanned the crowd looking for my parents. I really wanted to head back to the pack house—talking with Adrian had completely killed my appetite, and I wasn't about to stick around for dinner.

If he was wondering how I knew his parents had warmed up to Lynda, well, his mother actually called me a few months back. This was after his father had fully recovered, and she wanted to thank me. During that conversation, she mentioned they were trying to accept their son's choice and wished me well in life.

I got it, honestly. Adrian was their only kid, and they couldn't bear to lose him. So they were doing whatever it took to make peace with his decisions.

I spotted my parents chatting with someone and headed over. As I got closer, I realized they were talking to Lynda.

"Your pack is really beautiful, and everyone's been so welcoming," I heard Lynda saying.

"Thanks so much for saying that. I just wish Crystal Blood Pack members were as nice as us," I said, sliding up next to my mom.

My parents looked confused—I guess Lynda hadn't introduced herself yet.

"Mom, Dad, this is Lynda from Crystal Blood Pack. You know, the one I told you about?" I said.

Their expressions immediately hardened once they realized who she was. They both turned to stare at her.

"So you're Alpha Adrian's girlfriend?" Dad asked.

Lynda glanced at me, then back at my father. "Yes, sir. Nice to meet you. Thanks for having us."

"But we didn't invite you," Mom said bluntly.

Lynda's eyes went wide—she looked totally humiliated. I had to fight back a smirk. What did she expect? That my parents wouldn't know what she'd done?

"Adrian asked me to come with him," she stammered, putting on this innocent act.

I rolled my eyes. "Of course he did."

"Actually, it was her idea to come."

We all turned as Adrian's voice cut through the conversation. He was walking toward us.

I looked away and ignored him completely. Mom squeezed my hand tight—she was worried his presence would mess with my head. I patted her hand and smiled.

"It's okay, Mom. Your daughter's gotten stronger."

She nodded and visibly relaxed.

The second Adrian stepped next to Lynda, Dad shot him the dirtiest look.

Beta Patrick joined our little group, greeting my father first.

"Alpha Martin, it's been way too long."

Patrick shook hands with Dad. I remembered he'd been Beta for ages.

"How's Alpha Lucas doing?" Dad asked.

"He's doing great now. All thanks to your daughter."

Patrick glanced at me, and I nodded back. I had nothing against him—no reason to be rude.

"Nice to meet you, Alpha Martin," Adrian said, extending his hand to my father.

Dad just stared at the outstretched hand and didn't take it. The temperature in the room seemed to drop ten degrees.

Adrian looked at me, then pulled his hand back.

"I used to think Alpha Lucas had this incredibly powerful son who'd rule multiple packs someday. Never thought you'd turn out to be such a fool," Dad said.

Lynda's eyes went wide, and she looked back and forth between Dad and Adrian.

Adrian's face darkened at my father's words. I was terrified he might say something disrespectful to Dad.

This guy didn't even hesitate to insult his own father—would he show mine any respect?

"Dad, let's not—"

"You threw away a diamond and chased after a piece of glass. Don't you know that not everything that glitters is gold?"

Dad cut me off, and his words hit me like a punch to the gut. I looked down, not wanting to rehash all this drama again. But these were my parents—they had every right to be bitter toward the man who'd broken their daughter's heart.

Lynda started coughing like she was choking on air. She hurried over to a corner and grabbed a glass of water from a passing waiter. She didn't come back to our group—clearly just trying to escape this whole conversation.

Meanwhile, Adrian just stared at my father without saying a word.

I wondered what was going through his head.

"I know what you're getting at, but that's all in the past now," Beta Patrick said, trying to defuse the situation.

Dad nodded. "You're right. It is in the past. And I'm still here to make sure my daughter's future is protected."

That's when Adrian finally spoke up, his voice ice-cold.

"Don't worry about it. I'm not interested in your daughter. You can focus on her future without any concerns from me."

After that little speech, Adrian stepped back, shoved his hands in his pockets, and headed straight for the exit.

Patrick looked shocked. He gave my father a quick nod and hurried after his Alpha.

When Lynda realized Adrian was leaving, she didn't waste a second—she rushed after him. Everyone in the hall watched Alpha Adrian storm out without even staying for dinner with the head Alpha. People were whispering, wondering what had pissed off such a powerful man.

Dad turned and hugged me. "I wanted to make sure he'd never cross your path again. He'll be leaving our pack tonight, and your lives will be separate forever."

Mom rubbed my shoulder with a gentle smile.

"Sweetheart, life is like a book. There are lots of chapters, and when one ends, another one begins."
