Alpha's Twins Chapter 147

3 min 30.7K views

"Alpha wants to see you all outside." Three guards walked into the room, their voices hard and commanding. The way they spoke made it clear they weren't asking—they were ready to drag us out if we didn't move.

It had only been an hour since I'd talked to Adrian. Why couldn't he give us some time to figure out where we'd go?

"Mommy, what's happening?" Aria sobbed, tears streaming down her face. Noah looked totally lost, like he couldn't make sense of any of this.

"Mommy, Uncle's in bed. Who are they calling Alpha?" Noah asked, his little face scrunched up in confusion.

I looked over at Jason and felt my heart clench. Noah was right. Uncle Jason was the only person he'd ever heard people call Alpha. He didn't know anything about pack rules or how things worked.

Without looking at him, I said, "We have a new Alpha now, Noah."

"New? Who's the new Alpha then?"

I was about to try explaining it to him when the guards started pounding on the door—even though it was wide open and they were standing right there.

"Why won't you people listen? We don't want to deal with the former Alpha's family any longer than we have to. Get out here now."

I glanced at them and realized one of them used to be our guard. I stared at him, but he wouldn't meet my eyes.

"People are right," I muttered under my breath as I walked out first. "Time and power really do change everything."

"Bring your kids," another guard called after me.

My blood ran cold. Was Adrian really taking them from me right now?

Mom grabbed the twins' hands and led them out of the room. Dad followed behind us.

Eric couldn't come with us—he'd passed out from his injuries. Alpha Leo had attacked him too, used some kind of poisoned wooden stake. He needed medical attention, and I'd have to find him help somehow.

When we got to the living room, Adrian was sprawled on the couch like he owned the world. He was fully dressed, hiding his wounds under his clothes.

Like we weren't even there—like he hadn't just summoned us—he dropped an ice cube into his glass and took a long drink.

"You called for us, Alpha," Dad said.

I could hear the strain in his voice. He didn't want to show respect, but he had no choice.

Adrian looked at him and nodded slowly. "Time for you to say goodbye to the pack house, Mr. Hansley. And everyone in it."

I clenched my fists, trying to keep my anger and pain locked down. But Mom couldn't hide hers.

"Why are you doing this? You have no right to hurt us like this."

Adrian raised an eyebrow and set his glass down on the coffee table.

"Why am I doing this? Mrs. Hansley, instead of asking me, maybe you should ask yourself that question."

Mom looked shaken. I could see her trying to figure out what we'd done to him.

"Are you talking about the meeting? My son was just being protective—he was angry about what you did to my daughter." Mom stood her ground, even with the former Luna title stripped away.

She didn't even flinch at the men standing behind Adrian with their guns trained on us.

Adrian went quiet for a moment. Then his eyes moved from Mom to my children.

Mom quickly stepped in front of them, trying to shield them from his gaze.

Adrian let out a cold laugh at her protective gesture.

"I only want my children. The rest of you can go straight to hell."
