Alpha's Twins Chapter 251
The day Noah and Aria's birthday party had finally arrived, and the entire pack house buzzed with activity. Decorations covered every surface, transforming the place into something magical. Invitations had gone out to packs across the region, and of course they'd all accepted—when Alpha Adrian Miller extended an invitation, you didn't turn it down.
Adrian sat on his bed, cigarette dangling between his fingers as he flipped through a stack of files. The paperwork had his full attention until a knock interrupted him.
"Come in," he called without looking up.
The door opened and his mother's voice filled the room. "Adrian, why are you still working? The party started an hour ago. Guests are already arriving."
He glanced toward the window. Outside, darkness had completely swallowed the sky.
Adrian took a long drag from his cigarette.
Grace Miller watched her son with growing concern. She had no idea where his life was heading anymore. He was her only child, the center of her and Lucas's world, but lately it felt like they were losing him to this endless cycle of work and isolation.
Why was fate being so cruel to him? He had no balance, no joy—just work, always work. His power had grown so immense that even Lucas hesitated to challenge him these days. Without parental guidance, Adrian was spiraling into a life of his own making. But was it really what he wanted?
Grace stepped inside and closed the door behind her. She walked over and sat on the edge of the bed, carefully avoiding the scattered papers.
"Adrian."
He crushed his cigarette in the nightstand ashtray and started gathering his files. "What is it?"
"How much longer are you going to live like this? These past six years, you've turned into a machine. When's the last time you took a real break? Maybe a vacation?"
Adrian's hands stilled. He looked up at her sharply. "Did you talk to Lynda?"
The question caught her off guard. Her son was too perceptive for his own good. She shook her head. "No. But I want you to actually live your life. You're still young, Adrian. If you keep burying yourself in work like this, you'll wake up one day and realize you wasted the best years of your life."
Adrian sighed and stood up from the bed. "Lynda and I broke up."
Grace shot to her feet. "You can't just keep doing this! You did the same thing with Natalia. I begged you not to divorce her, but you wouldn't listen. Now you're pushing another woman away. What about your future? How are you going to get through life completely alone? You need someone who can take care of you, love you, treat you with kindness—"
Adrian remained silent as his mother's anger poured out. She shouldn't have brought up Natalia. The mention of his ex-wife brought back memories of all those family dinners where he'd announced his intention to divorce her, over and over again.
His gaze drifted to the dark sky visible behind his mother's shoulder. "Don't compare her to anyone else," he said quietly.
