Alpha's Twins Chapter 248
Natalia's POV
"Natalia, where are you?"
I caught sight of Adrian, and he looked like someone had just rained on his parade. What the hell had flipped his switch from calm to stormy so fast?
"I'm at the coffee shop. Why? Are you heading to my place?"
Adrian shot up from his chair the second he heard my voice. The chair scraped against the floor with a screech that made me jump back, eyeing him like he'd lost his mind.
"What was that noise?" Max asked through the phone.
"A wild animal just wandered in," I muttered.
I watched Adrian's hands ball into fists. When I looked up at his face, he looked ready to tear someone apart.
"Wild animal? What are you talking about?"
I laughed it off. "Just messing with you. Anyway, you didn't answer my question."
"I'm at your house right now."
"What? You're already there?"
"Yeah. Figured you'd be home by now, so I came straight over."
"I'm on my way."
"No rush. I'm just hanging with your mom and dad."
I could hear Dad's laughter in the background, and my stomach dropped. Had Max told them about us?
"Okay," I mumbled, ending the call.
I'd almost forgotten there was someone else standing there, watching my every move.
"Why did he call you?" Adrian demanded.
I ignored him and headed for the door. He followed like a lost puppy. "I asked you something."
I stepped outside and he was right behind me. I couldn't help but laugh when he emerged from the shop.
The idiot didn't even realize he'd followed me out. I locked up and flipped the sign.
"You have no right to ask me anything," I snapped.
"What's he doing at your house?"
I walked down the street, scanning for a cab, pretending he didn't exist.
He grabbed my wrist and spun me around to face him.
"Why are you ignoring me?" His voice was sharp with anger.
I jerked my hand free from his grip.
"Don't touch me. I can't stand your hands on me."
Adrian looked like I'd slapped him. I took several steps back, keeping my distance.
"I hate you more than anything in this world. More than I hate Alpha Leo. More than anyone has ever hated anyone."
Adrian shook his head frantically. "No, you can't hate me. I'm your mate."
I let out a bitter laugh. The disgust I felt for him kept growing stronger. I'd never forget what he did to me. Never. All I had left was this hatred.
A cab turned the corner and I flagged it down. I grabbed the door handle, but before getting in, I turned back to Adrian.
He was staring at me with those desperate eyes. I gave him my sweetest, most sarcastic smile.
"Wake up from your little mate bond fantasy. Because I've already found my guy."
