**Third POV**

Natalia was speechless. She could only stare at Adrian as all the pain came flooding back in flashes.

She'd almost managed to forget everything and start fresh. But it seemed like this man would never let her move on.

"Sorry for what? For hurting me? For humiliating me? For constantly reminding me how worthless I am to you?"

Her words hit him like a punch to the gut. For the first time, he felt his chest tighten as he looked into her eyes.

She'd let her guard down, and he could see straight into her broken heart.

His jaw clenched as his pulse quickened.

He wanted to pull her into his arms and tell her he was sorry for everything, even though he knew she'd never forgive him.

"What about when we met again after all these years? What did you do? Was Lynda the one who made you take my children away? Did she force you to trash my parents? What about all those days I suffered because of you?"

She jerked her hand free and stepped back.

"I hate you with every fiber of my being. What you did to me is unforgivable. Even when I try to move on, your past comes back to haunt me at night. I can't forget spending those nights during my pregnancy, waiting for my husband to come find me and bring me home."

"Natalia—"

"Don't come here again. I don't even want to see your face. You see how happy I am now? That's why you're here, isn't it? To ruin it by dragging up my past. That's all you're good for, Adrian Miller."

Adrian shook his head. But every time he thought about her with Max, his blood boiled. He couldn't control his rage.

"I'm your mate."

He had no choice but to play the mate bond card. He'd get her back any way he could, even if it meant using their connection.

"Max is going to mark me, so—"

He grabbed her hand again and growled, "Don't you dare. You can punish me all you want. But I'll never let you be his mate."

Natalia was stunned by his threat. She stared into his eyes.

"What do you want from me? What am I supposed to do?" she asked, exhausted by his relentless pursuit.

His gaze traced her face as he searched for the right words. He decided to swallow his pride and finally tell her what was really on his mind.

He wanted to tell her he loved her and wanted to cherish her. He wanted her to leave the other man and give him a chance.

"Natalia, I—"

A deep voice cut Adrian off. He turned to see Alpha Martin coming down the stairs, his eyes locked on Adrian's hand gripping his daughter's.

"What's going on here?"
