Alpha's Twins Chapter 57

"I was going to send someone else. But something told me I should come get you myself."

I just stared at my brother, speechless. His concern meant everything to me. I could see how worried he was.

"Where's the cure?" I asked.

He raised an eyebrow. "You want me to hand it over right here?"

I glanced around and noticed a few people watching us.

I grabbed his hand and pulled him into the hotel.

"No way. For all I know, someone could be planning to sabotage me and turn that cure into poison. This place is crawling with enemies, Jason."

He laughed at my paranoia. I couldn't deny that Jason and I had an incredible bond. He was the brother who loved me unconditionally and had literally saved my life.

If he hadn't rescued me five years ago, I would've died in those woods. If he hadn't shielded me from everything, I would've been the pack's laughingstock. I still remembered the day we first met. He promised to give me all the love I'd been missing my whole life. And he kept that promise. He never failed to protect me.

We headed to the front desk together. He got himself a room, but before going there, we went to mine first.

"Mom's worried sick about you, Natalia," Jason said, settling onto the couch.

I poured him a glass of water and handed it to him.

"I know. I've been calling her every day."

"You're heading back tomorrow, right?" he asked, holding the glass.

I nodded. "Yeah."

"When?"

"Tomorrow night."

"Okay."

"Jason, let's go back together," I said, sitting on the bed.

He shook his head. "No. I've got some business to take care of."

My stomach dropped. "Please don't do anything to anyone."

He finished his water and set the glass on the small table by the couch.

"Relax. I'm not going after that loser. This is purely business."

I stood up. "If you say so. I'll just drive back with my driver."

"Good. And here's your cure."

He pulled a small, clear bottle from his pocket. Red liquid swirled inside.

I reached for it and held it tight. The bottle was tiny, but the cure inside was powerful enough to heal an inner wolf in ways no other medicine could.

"Thank you, Jason."

"Anytime. Now get some sleep. I'll see you tomorrow."

I walked him to the door.

I was so relieved to see my brother, and even more relieved that he wasn't angry with me. He seemed so calm and understanding.

I closed the door and went to bed. I felt good about helping Alpha Lucas. It was my way of making things right.

The next day, Harold called me non-stop, asking if I'd managed to get the cure. I kept telling him I was on my way to the pack hospital.

When I got to the hospital, I tried calling Harold back. No answer. He must be busy.

I called Aunt Grace instead and asked where she was. She told me Uncle Lucas had been moved to an operating room. The cure would only work on his wolf, but the doctors needed to check a few things first. They'd give him the treatment once the cure was absorbed into his bloodstream, which would help him shift soon.

I asked for directions to the operating room and rushed over. When I got there, I found Aunt Grace sitting outside. Adrian and all his officials were there too, along with guards positioned at a distance.

"Natalia," Aunt Grace whispered as soon as she saw me.

I walked over to her. "How's Uncle Lucas?"

"He's inside. The doctors are preparing his body for the cure. Did you get it?"

Her voice was desperate. She was terrified for her husband.

I reached into my bag and pulled out the cure.

Everyone stared at it in amazement.

The red liquid gleamed under the hospital lights.

"Where did you get that?" Adrian asked.

I ignored him and turned to Aunt Grace. "Uncle's going to be fine. Don't worry."

Just then, the door opened and Harold came out wearing a white coat, mask, and gloves.

When he saw me, his eyes lit up with hope. "Did you find the cure?"

"Of course. Here it is," I said, handing it to him.

As Harold took the bottle, Adrian asked, "How do we know that's actually the cure you requested?"

I turned to him with a frown. He was questioning this now, after a whole week?

What did he think? That I came here to kill his father?

Harold answered confidently, "We'll test the cure first. It'll take about an hour to get results. Then we'll start the procedure."
