Alpha's Twins Chapter 299
After Adrian stormed out, I let out a frustrated sigh and raked my fingers through my hair.
How the hell did I end up here?
I tried piecing together what happened, then remembered passing out on the street. The last thing I saw was Adrian's face hovering over me.
Why bring me to his place? He could've just dropped me off at home.
While I was working myself up over it, I spotted a paper bag sitting on the couch.
I walked over and grabbed it to see what was inside. The moment I opened it, I found a dress.
I rolled my eyes. That man was unbelievable.
Obviously he'd gotten this for me to wear.
I hurried to the bathroom for a quick shower.
This room felt so familiar. Every corner held memories that kept flooding back, whether I wanted them to or not.
After a fast shower, I stepped out wearing the dress he'd provided.
I towel-dried my hair while scanning the room for my purse.
My kids and parents were probably worried sick about me.
And Max...
I needed to call him and let him know I was okay.
I left the bedroom and headed downstairs. Looking around at the house I'd missed so much over the years brought back a wave of emotions.
The maids looked unfamiliar - all new faces, so they didn't seem surprised to see me.
I glanced around until I spotted a middle-aged woman I recognized.
"Amanda."
I smiled at her. She hadn't changed much. Still had that strong, no-nonsense look about her. Her hair was pulled back in the same perfect bun, not a strand out of place.
"Luna!"
Hearing that title again hit me with a rush of memories.
She'd been like a mother to me. During those two years of marriage, she was there through all the hard times. Took care of me when I was sick, supported me when I needed it most.
"I'm not your Luna anymore," I said as I walked over to her.
Her bright eyes dimmed as she nodded.
"I know. But you'll always be my Luna. How have you been?"
I told her about my two children. She said she already knew - Adrian had told everyone about his kids.
"What about you, Amanda? How have things been?" I asked, genuinely curious about her life.
She looked down, like she was holding something back. I touched her shoulder gently.
"It's okay. You don't have to tell me anything you don't want to."
She looked up and shook her head. "No, it's not that."
I studied her face, trying to figure out what was making her hesitate.
"What's wrong? Is he not treating you right?"
The thought of Adrian mistreating this woman who'd been like a mother to him made my blood boil.
Amanda took my hands in hers.
"He came back a few months ago, Luna. He visited once after your divorce and then disappeared for years. But last night, I saw something different in him. I think he's carrying a lot of guilt about the past."
