Alpha's Twins Chapter 137

4 min 30.7K views

I was pacing back and forth in the room where our pack doctor was examining my brother. Jason lay on the bed, looking almost like a corpse. Only his heartbeat and shallow breathing gave us any hope that he was still alive.

My parents sat beside the bed, watching Jason. Tears streamed down my mother's face while my father held her close.

An hour ago, when I shifted back and returned to the pack house, I was greeted by a horrific sight—dead wolves scattered across the floor. I figured Alpha Leo's fighters had broken in to attack our family.

I glanced over at my kids. They were curled up on the couch near the bed, looking scared and exhausted. I'd always protected them from violence like this. They'd never witnessed anything so brutal, and I could tell it was traumatizing them.

"As you can see, I removed the stakes and bandaged Alph—"

The doctor caught himself mid-sentence, realizing Jason was no longer the head Alpha.

He cleared his throat and continued. "I cleaned Alpha Jason's wounds and dressed them. But I need to identify the poison before I can find an antidote."

I stared at Jason's blanket-covered body, feeling rage building inside me again. I should have killed Alpha Leo with my bare hands. What he did to my brother was unforgivable.

"When will he recover?" my father asked.

The doctor sighed heavily. "I can't give you a timeline. He was already seriously ill before the battle. His life was hanging by a thread from some unknown disease. Without identifying the toxin, I can't develop a cure."

The room went cold as we all felt the weight of Jason's uncertain fate.

My mother reached for Jason's hand and squeezed it. "My son, please wake up. You know we can't survive without you. Don't let this poison win. You're my strong boy, aren't you?"

Watching my mother fall apart broke my heart.

As a mother myself, I understood her pain. Seeing your child fighting for their life is every parent's worst nightmare. And right now, my mother was living that nightmare—watching her son hover between life and death.

"Everything's going to be okay. Don't give up hope, Jade," my father said, trying to comfort her.

My mother whipped around and glared at him like he'd lost his mind.

"What kind of father are you? Your son is dying right in front of you. Do something, Martin. Save our son."

My father stared at Jason with a broken expression. After decades of leading this pack, he'd never looked so defeated.

"Martin, our son is still breathing. How can that man just steal our pack from us? Are we really going to abandon everything while Jason is fighting for his life?"

Her words hit me like a slap. I turned to my father. "Dad, Mom's right. My brother is still alive. Adrian killed Alpha Leo, so fine—he can take Leo's pack. But how does that give him ours?"

For the first time in my life, I saw fear in my father's eyes.

"Both of you need to shut up. This pack house doesn't belong to us anymore. Everyone outside this room works for Alpha Adrian now. We should be grateful he let Jason live. Any other Alpha would have finished him off."

I shook my head and marched toward the door.

"Dad, I'm going to fight this."

Just as I was about to leave, my father called out.

"Your brother declared war on the Crystal Blood Pack before he left. That was his choice, even though Adrian was trying to help us at the border."

I froze. How could I have forgotten? Jason had declared war on Adrian right here in the pack house!

I turned back to my father. "Dad, but still—"

"It's over, Natalia."

Eric's voice came from behind me. I spun around to see him limping toward the door, covered in bandages and supported by our pack's theta.

Eric looked directly at me. "It doesn't matter that Jason's alive. Adrian had already won this pack before Alpha Leo ever attacked."

I stared at him in confusion. "What are you talking about? How is that possible?"

His answer shocked everyone in the room.

"Jason submitted to Adrian as head Alpha during the battle, before he even made it back to the pack house."
