Alpha's Twins Chapter 128
Time was flying by like a runaway train. It had been months since Jason fell ill, and everything was falling apart. Our pack couldn't function the way it used to.
My family was an emotional wreck. Nobody saw this coming—my brother getting sick like this.
That night when Eric confessed his feelings, I was trying to handle the situation with him. But the second I heard about Jason's condition, I bolted to his room.
What I found there broke me completely. Jason was coughing up blood, and Mom was beside him, sobbing her heart out.
I couldn't believe it. My brother—this guy who'd always been rock-solid—looked so fragile and weak.
Dad immediately called our pack doctor, and the next day we had Jason in the pack hospital.
But here's the kicker—our doctor couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. He actually told us we needed to find someone who could contact witches to help Jason, because whatever this was, it was only getting worse with time.
We called Qadir, and he did everything he could to diagnose the problem. But even he came up empty.
The whole time, though, his attention kept shifting to me. Then he said something that made my blood run cold.
His words hit me like a freight train. The way he looked at me, eyes practically glowing—I knew he was seeing something real.
"The danger coming for you will either destroy you or save you. But the choice will be yours to make. You'll have to decide which path to take."
I still get chills thinking about that moment. What kind of danger was he talking about? I just prayed it had nothing to do with my kids.
After that, I tried reaching out to Doctor Max, but I didn't have his number. When we contacted the head Alpha of his pack, they basically told us we'd already gotten our one favor when they gave us that cure, and they weren't helping us anymore.
I realized I'd used that cure on Adrian's father. But I didn't regret it—how could I regret saving someone's life?
Still, I was falling apart inside, day by day.
"Boss, you need to stop stressing yourself out." Damia's voice snapped me back to the present, pulling me out of my spiral about the last few months.
I rubbed my temples, leaning back in my office chair. The pack's business was going down the drain.
Ever since Jason got sick, he couldn't handle pack meetings or business deals. Meanwhile, I was watching our projects slip through my fingers.
I had no clue what was happening to our pack anymore. It felt like everything was crumbling just because our head Alpha was down for the count.
"Miss, please, let's grab some lunch. You haven't eaten anything all morning."
I pushed the files aside and glanced at my phone's lock screen—a picture of my kids smiling back at me. That photo was the only thing keeping me from completely losing it.
"I'm so worried about Jason. I don't know what's going to happen to him," I whispered, fighting back tears.
It had been forever since I'd last cried. I'd promised myself I wouldn't break down—that I'd fight through anything.
"He's going to be fine. Please don't worry," Damia said, giving my shoulder a reassuring pat. She was trying to comfort me, but only I knew how destroyed I felt inside.
The rest of the day dragged on at the office. I was completely drained from working nonstop, and I could see the exhaustion on all my employees' faces too. They'd been busting their asses on every project, but it seemed like just because our head Alpha was sick, no other pack wanted to do business with us.
I don't know what came over me, but I stopped in the lobby before leaving and looked at all the employees heading home.
"Thank you all for your incredible hard work. I'll never forget what you've done."
My words seemed to catch them off guard, but they immediately bowed to show their respect.
I nodded back and left the building. On the drive back to the pack house in Jason's car, I couldn't stop thinking about how time had screwed us over.
Jason had insisted I use his car instead of mine because he was worried about my safety. He hadn't left the pack house since getting sick.
When we pulled up to the pack house, I thanked the driver and headed inside.
My twins came running toward me, and I scooped them up in a huge hug.
I could see my family sitting on the couches, and when they noticed me, they gave me those sad, worried looks. I was coming home late again.
"How are you feeling, Jason?" I asked, sitting down next to him.
"I'm sorry you have to handle so much because of me."
I hugged his arm and rested my head on his shoulder. "As long as you're okay, I can handle anything."
"What if I die soon?"
His question hit me like a punch to the gut. I jerked my head up and stared at him, furious.
"Jason, don't you dare say that again."
"She's right. Why are you torturing us with that kind of talk? Your parents are still here to watch over your family," Mom said, clearly upset.
I glanced over at Eric, and he gave me a warm smile. I smiled back. After his confession, things had been awkward between us for a while. But then he realized I wasn't in the wrong, so he worked on moving past it, and we managed to get our friendship back on track.
After dinner with the family, it was time to head to our rooms for the night.
I was saying goodnight to my parents when someone started pounding on the front door of the pack house like their life depended on it.
Since it was bedtime, the staff had already locked up after serving dinner.
A few of the house staff rushed to the door to see who was making such a racket.
The moment they opened it, a group of our pack fighters burst in and rushed straight to Jason.
"Alpha!"
They dropped to their knees in front of him, their voices shaking.
"Alpha, the Crystal Blood Pack is approaching our border with over five hundred fighters. It looks like Alpha Adrian has declared war on us."
