Alpha's Twins Chapter 42
"Excuse me?"
I was floored by what he'd just said. How could he even think that about me?
"Cut the innocent act. Does this so-called fiancé of yours know what you're really doing here? Are you seriously trying to wreck my reputation by going after my head doctor?"
I laughed—probably sounded completely unhinged. This guy was really pushing my buttons!
"A cheater who shacked up with his mistress while married is gonna lecture me about loyalty now?"
He let out this cold laugh, flashing me this twisted smirk. The vibe coming off him was ice-cold and dangerous.
"If I'm so bad, then what does that make you? What about those bastard kids of yours?"
My jaw dropped. He'd brought up my children again.
"How dare you talk about my kids?" My voice was razor-sharp.
I couldn't keep it together—my voice came out way too loud. Adrian glanced around the cafeteria at everyone else.
People started getting up and clearing out. When I tried to stand, Adrian grabbed my wrist and pinned it under the table.
"Where do you think you're going? You just humiliated me in front of my pack doctors, and now you want to run scared?" His eyes flashed red, and I felt this chill run straight through me.
"Let go of me."
"Can't break free yourself?"
I fought to pull my hand away, but he was too strong—I couldn't get loose.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT, ADRIAN?" I screamed at him.
Thank God the cafeteria was empty by then. Otherwise this psycho would've made a complete scene.
For some reason, his grip loosened up. I had no idea my yelling would get to him like that.
There's no way he was actually scared of me raising my voice. So why did he suddenly let go?
He stood up and walked over to the chair Harold had been sitting in earlier.
I got up and turned to leave.
"Did I say you could go?"
I ignored whatever garbage was coming out of his mouth and kept walking toward the exit.
"Don't forget you're in my pack right now. My hands aren't tied when it comes to punishing you."
That threat stopped me cold.
"I'll throw you in the dungeons, and no Alpha or Beta will be able to get you out," he warned.
If it weren't for Alpha Lucas, I never would've set foot in this pack in the first place.
After everything, this guy still had the nerve to blackmail me!
Should I call my brother? But that would just start a war between our packs.
I clenched my jaw and turned back to face him.
"What do you want?" I snapped.
He pointed to my chair.
"Sit down."
I stomped my foot and marched back to the table.
I dropped into the chair. "Now what?"
He pushed the plate toward me.
"Eat."
I stared at him like he'd lost his mind. "What?"
"I told you to finish your food. Or do you enjoy wasting it?"
"You really think I have any appetite after looking at your face?"
His eyes went back to black. His wolf was right there on the surface, but he managed to keep control.
He didn't say a word—just stared at me.
My stomach growled.
Honestly, I was starving, but not enough to take orders from this guy.
I hadn't forgotten running into those woods on an empty stomach.
Even looking at him now, my mind kept drifting back to the day I left his pack. I couldn't forget all the pain and suffering I went through when I was pregnant.
'Didn't he say he didn't care if I died when my father tried to reach him? Now he's telling me to eat?' I thought.
Tears started burning behind my eyes. I made fists with my hands, trying to hold them back.
'Please, please. The last thing I want is to cry in front of this man,' I told myself.
He was watching me. Like he wanted to see the tears fall, he didn't even blink—just kept staring me down.
'Why? Why does he still affect me like this? No, no. I can't show weakness in front of him.' I kept reminding myself.
I was the one who looked away first. I dropped my head and blinked the tears back, then took a deep breath.
I figured if I just ate, he'd let me leave. I planned to get out of this pack right after seeing Uncle Lucas and Aunt Grace.
So I picked up the spoon and started eating quietly.
The whole cafeteria was dead silent.
I heard something and glanced up to see Adrian lighting a cigarette.
What was his deal?
I decided to ignore him and keep eating.
As I angrily chewed my food, I told myself,
'Why am I wasting time on him? I'm not doing this because he told me to. I'm eating because I'm hungry.'
After finishing, I grabbed my water glass, making it crystal clear that I was completely ignoring him.
But just as I started drinking, he asked,
"Who's the father of your kids?"
