Alpha's Twins Chapter 52

Adrian was furious and wanted to charge at me, but Lynda grabbed his arms and started crying.

"I need you to take me to the hospital, Adrian. It hurts so bad."

Adrian glanced at her and gave a quick nod. He scooped her up in his arms, shot me one last glare, then headed to his car parked nearby—he'd been about to leave for the office when all this went down.

I caught Lynda staring at me. She flashed me this smug little smile, then wrapped her arms around Adrian's neck like she was marking her territory.

"That woman! I know damn well I didn't break her hand. I wasn't even using my full strength. If I had, she'd be missing that hand right now," I muttered under my breath, looking away from her pathetic display.

My attention shifted to the security guards who'd just gotten fired.

I walked over to them. They looked devastated.

"Don't worry about your jobs. Would you be okay working somewhere else for the same pay?" I asked.

They stared at me in shock.

"Yeah, but how?" one of them asked.

"Leave that to me. Just give me your IDs."

They pulled out their identification cards. I snapped photos and promised they'd hear from me soon.

"Ms. Natalia?"

I heard someone calling my name. When I turned around, a security guard was walking toward me.

"There's a car waiting for you outside. We can't just let any vehicle into this area. I need to confirm it's actually yours."

"Yeah, that's mine. Let them through," I said, realizing they'd stopped my driver at the main gate.

A few minutes later, my driver pulled up beside me.

I got in and told him to take me to the mall.

On the way, Aunt Grace called, panicking about where I was. She was worried I'd left the pack house for good.

She begged me to come back. I sighed and told her I'd be home tonight. She sounded relieved and apologized for her son's behavior.

Honestly, I had planned to leave for good when I stormed out of the dining room. But after giving Adrian and Lynda a taste of their own medicine, I felt a little better.

I figured facing Adrian head-on was the best way to get stronger.

When the driver stopped at the mall, I got out.

I walked into the upscale shopping center—the kind of place only wealthy people could afford to shop at.

The only time I'd ever been here was when I got married. Aunt Grace had sent someone to bring me here to buy my wedding dress.

Since I might not get another chance to come back for who knows how long, I decided to buy something for my kids while I was here.

Walking past the designer stores, a white shirt in a window display caught my eye.

It reminded me of another white shirt I'd once bought for Adrian. He'd rejected that one too, just like he'd rejected my flower bouquet.

I still remembered that day clearly. I'd been so excited to buy him that shirt. I didn't know anything about brands back then—it wasn't designer, but it was good quality.

I'd hoped he'd like it, but instead he poured a glass of red wine all over it.

"This shirt is cheap, just like you."

That's what he told me.

How could I forget those words? It felt like being back here was ripping open every old wound, one by one.

I bumped into a woman, apologized, and forced myself to look away from the shirt.

I spent the rest of the day shopping for my children. I sat in the mall's café for a while, talking to my babies with a smile on my face. I had lunch at the restaurant.

It was getting late when I got a call from an unknown number.

"Hello?"

"It's Harold."

"Oh, hi. How did you get—"

"Alpha Lucas gave it to me yesterday. I asked for it since I forgot to get your number."

"I see. How's Uncle Lucas doing? Is he okay?"

I figured he was calling about health issues.

"No, it's about Lynda," he said.

As the head doctor of this pack, Harold was the private physician for the Alpha and his family. Whenever any Alpha family member had health problems, they went to him.

I assumed Adrian had taken Lynda to the pack hospital and Harold was calling about her hand.

"What about her?" I asked, sipping my coffee.

"Did you do something to her?"

"Why? Did she tell the whole pack I broke her hand?"

"No, but she was talking to Adrian, telling him to take action against you."

I set my coffee cup down and couldn't help but laugh.

"What's that man gonna do to me? He can't even threaten me with divorce anymore."

I could still picture his face when he glared at me outside the pack house. I bet he heard everything I said to Lynda.

He was probably shocked I could even curse.

I'm not usually the type to use foul language, but I hated him and that woman so much. I didn't do anything wrong—I just called them what they really are.

"She actually got hurt, Natalia," Harold said.

"For real?"

"Yeah. The pressure was intense. You almost broke her hand."

I was surprised to hear that. How was that possible? Sure, I'd twisted her hand pretty tight, but I didn't think I'd applied that much pressure.

"But I didn't even squeeze that hard, Harold."

"I forgot to ask—did you ever get your wolf?"

"Yeah, I got my wolf four years ago after giving birth. But what does that have to do with anything?"

Harold went quiet after I said that. I waited, confused.

After a few seconds of silence, he asked, "What's your rank, Natalia?"
