Lynda wasn't really listening to me. She just held onto me quietly. I didn't push it. She needed some rest - today had been way too much for her.

Mom walked over and stopped next to me. She reached out and gently stroked Lynda's hair.

Lynda pulled away from me and threw her arms around my mother, tears streaming down her face.

Mom hugged her back, looking at me with this heartbroken expression.

After she got Lynda calmed down, Mom told her to stay at the pack house tonight.

"Adrian," Mom said once Lynda had left the living room.

"Mom, I really don't want to talk about this anymore."

She stayed quiet and just nodded. "Okay, sweetheart."

I watched her head upstairs to her and Dad's bedroom.

My head was already a mess. I just needed to chill out for a minute. Otherwise, all this rage building up inside me was going to explode.

Then I caught sight of one of the maids coming from the hallway where my kids' room was. She was carrying two plates of food that hadn't been touched.

She looked startled when she saw me and immediately bowed her head.

"They won't eat, Alpha. I tried everything, but..."

I realized it had been days since I'd been too swamped with work to spend much time with them. And honestly, I'd been avoiding their room because they didn't want to see me anyway.

"Give me the plates."

Both the maid and Patric looked shocked. The maid hurried over and handed them to me.

I glanced at Patric. "Wait for me outside."

He nodded. I headed toward my kids' room.

I balanced one plate in my hand and tucked the other against my arm, then opened the door.

The second I walked in and closed the door behind me, they both looked up at me.

Their happy faces dropped instantly. They definitely weren't thrilled to see me.

They were sitting on the bed, holding the tablet I'd gotten them.

When they saw me looking at it, they quickly tapped the screen and shoved it under a pillow.

I shook my head and walked over to the bed.

"Why didn't you two eat dinner?" I asked, setting the plates down.

"We don't want to," Noah said, his face all gloomy.

Aria looked upset too. I hated seeing my little princess like that.

I started to sit down with them, but they scooted backward.

I sat on the edge of the bed and just looked at them for a moment. The way they were acting toward me was killing me. I'd come here to calm down, not get even more worked up.

Then a ringtone started going off in the room.

I knew exactly where it was coming from.

My eyes went straight to the pillow. The sound was coming from the tablet.

Both Aria and Noah's eyes went wide. Noah quickly grabbed the tablet and ended the call.

He turned to look at me, looking absolutely terrified - like I was about to murder him or something.

I raised my hand, and he squeezed his eyes shut, probably thinking I was going to hit him.

I gently patted his hand instead.

"What do you think I am? Did you really think I didn't know you've been talking to your mom?"
