Alpha's Twins Chapter 130

5 min 30.7K views

I tore my gaze away from Eric, my mind spinning. Sure, I was over Adrian—that chapter of my life was dead and buried. But that didn't mean I wanted him actually dead.

Still, how dare he attack my pack?

And the timing? My brother was sick, and Adrian knew it. He was banking on Jason being weak right now, making this the perfect moment to strike.

'Coward,' I thought bitterly. 'If you so much as scratch my brother, I'll make you regret the day you were born.'

I watched Jason leave with Eric and his men, their faces grim as they headed out. The heavy wooden door slammed shut behind them with a finality that made my stomach drop. Jason's orders were clear—nobody in, nobody out until he said otherwise.

There was a back exit, of course. Dad had it built years ago as an escape route for the family if things ever went south. But right now, it felt more like a cage.

Dad was doing his best to comfort Mom, whispering reassurances that everything would be fine. His voice was steady, but I could see the worry lines etched deep around his eyes.

I turned to find Aria tugging at my sleeve with her tiny fingers. "Mommy, why is everyone crying? Where did Uncle Jason go?"

The innocence in her voice nearly broke me. I forced my expression into something cold and distant. "Aria, take your brother and go to your room. Now."

She flinched like I'd slapped her. Noah immediately grabbed her hand, his little face serious beyond his years.

"Come on, Aria. Don't make Mommy upset. Let's go to bed."

Aria's bottom lip trembled as she let Noah lead her away, glancing back at me with hurt in her eyes. It killed me to be so harsh, but I couldn't afford to be soft right now. Not when everything could go to hell at any moment.

I started pacing the living room like a caged animal, waiting for some word—any word—about what was happening out there.

An hour crawled by. Nothing. No updates, no messages, no sign that anyone even remembered we existed. My patience finally snapped, and I headed for the front door.

"Where are you going?" Mom jumped up, panic in her voice.

I shook my head. "Just checking the situation."

"Natalia, no. Your brother said to stay inside."

I whirled around to face my parents, frustration boiling over. "How can you expect me to just sit here while Jason's out there fighting for his life?"

"He's not alone," Dad said firmly. "His men are with him."

"Dad, he's sick! What if he can't shift? What if they overwhelm him?"

"Then what exactly do you think you can do about it?"

I couldn't answer that. Instead, I took a shaky breath and pushed past them. "I need to see what's happening."

The moment I stepped outside, I stopped dead. Guards everywhere—at least twenty of them surrounding the pack house like a protective wall. Jason wasn't taking any chances with our safety.

They all straightened when they saw me coming.

"What's the situation?" I demanded.

They exchanged nervous glances, and my blood pressure spiked.

"Well? Why aren't you answering me?"

One of them finally spoke up, his voice barely above a whisper. "Alpha's orders, ma'am. We're not supposed to tell you anything about the battle."

My jaw dropped. "Are you kidding me right now?"

I closed my eyes and tried reaching out through the mind-link to anyone on Jason's team. Nothing. Complete radio silence.

Fear started creeping up my spine like ice water. I pressed my fingers to my temples, trying to think of something—anything—I could do. But what? I wasn't a warrior. I'd never trained for combat. If I charged in there, I'd probably just get Jason killed trying to protect me.

I turned to head back inside, resigned to the waiting game.

Then a voice exploded in my head, raw with desperation.

"Natalia!"

Our gamma. My heart nearly stopped.

"What's wrong?" I shot back through the link.

"Get Alpha Martin out here now. Jason's in serious trouble."

The world tilted. My brother was dying, and I was standing here doing nothing.

I looked back at the pack house, then at the forest. No way could I tell my parents—Dad would charge out there and get himself killed too. I couldn't lose everyone.

The guards read my mind before I even moved. They stepped into my path, forming a human wall.

"Miss, Alpha Jason's orders were crystal clear. We don't let you leave, even if he dies out there."

Something snapped inside me. My eyes flashed bright blue as a growl ripped from my throat. The guards actually stumbled backward, the raw power hitting them like a physical force.

"Try to stop me," I snarled, "and I'll tear you apart."

"B-But the Alpha said—" one of them stammered.

"Your Alpha isn't going to die on my watch."

I pushed past them and sprinted toward the forest. My heart hammered against my ribs as I plunged into the trees, heading for the border. The sounds hit me immediately—howls of pain, snarls of rage, the terrible symphony of wolves tearing each other apart.

And they were getting closer. Soon they'd be at our doorstep.

I shifted mid-run, my wolf taking over as pure fury coursed through my veins. Only two thoughts burned in my mind: save Jason, and make Adrian pay.

"You picked the wrong night to mess with my family," I growled. "Let's see who's still breathing when this is over."
