Alpha's Twins Chapter 179

Natalia jerked her hand back the second Adrian tried to pull her toward the door.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" she snapped, eyebrows drawn together in a sharp frown.

Adrian stared at his empty hand hanging in midair where hers had been just a moment before.

She couldn't help studying him, trying to read his expression.

What was he even doing here?

"Natalia, I need to talk to you. Now," Adrian said through clenched teeth.

He wasn't pissed at her—he was furious with himself. He felt like he was losing his damn mind. All he wanted was to tell her he knew the truth now.

"Why you—"

Natalia started to let him have it but stopped herself when she noticed everyone in the coffee shop staring. She forced an apologetic smile.

"Sorry, everyone. Please, enjoy your coffee."

Adrian watched her flash that warm smile at complete strangers while giving him nothing but ice-cold attitude.

A young guy stood up and walked over to them.

"Mr..."

He looked Adrian up and down before continuing.

"Mr. Suit-and-Tie, I don't know who you think you are, but leave her alone."

Adrian's frown deepened when he recognized the same kid who'd been talking trash outside his car earlier.

Natalia's eyes went wide as she looked at the boy. "Evan, what are you doing? Go sit down," she said under her breath.

He was one of her regulars.

"Natalia, you don't know guys like this. Rich assholes who just mess around with girls for fun. Don't worry—I've got your back," Evan said.

Natalia had to bite her lip to keep from laughing. She glanced at Adrian, who was clearly hearing every word.

She pressed her lips together hard, fighting back a smile. The last thing she needed was to piss Adrian off even more.

She turned to the other customers, who were still watching like this was better than Netflix.

"It's okay, everyone. He's just an old friend."

She spoke loudly enough for the whole place to hear, hoping to kill their curiosity.

Evan opened his mouth to argue but then asked, "You sure about that?"

Natalia gave him a reassuring smile. She had to admit, it was sweet that he was the type of guy who'd step up when he thought a woman was in trouble.

She patted his arm. "Yeah, I'm sure."

Adrian's eyes locked onto her hand on Evan's arm like a laser sight. His blood pressure spiked.

"Sorry, man. Didn't mean to jump to conclusions. But you can see why I'd be worried about someone like her, right?"

Natalia smacked his arm. "Go sit down."

He laughed and rubbed the back of his neck before heading back to his table, where his friends were giving him thumbs up like he'd just conquered enemy territory.

Adrian's glare followed Evan across the room, but the kid was oblivious.

Natalia cleared her throat to get Adrian's attention back on her.

She had no idea Evan would say something like that. He was younger than her, and she'd always thought of him as a little brother. Sure, he left her cute notes sometimes that she politely ignored, but she figured he understood where they stood.

She could see Adrian still shooting daggers at Evan, making everyone else shift uncomfortably in their seats.

"Look, can you just—"

She stopped mid-sentence when Adrian turned that dark stare on her. She gave him an awkward smile, suddenly remembering he was the head Alpha here, and she wasn't under Blue Blood Pack protection anymore.

"Alpha, what did you want to talk about?"
