Alpha's Twins Chapter 191
I shook hands with Dr. Max and said, "I see you're enjoying your time in my pack."
He looked a bit taken aback by my comment. I let go of his hand and turned to Natalia.
"How do you two know each other?"
Max glanced at Natalia, who was watching him. He smiled at her first, then looked back at me.
"We're friends."
"Friends?" I frowned.
How did they become friends? Max's pack and the Blue Moon pack weren't connected.
Did they meet when he went there?
I suddenly remembered that Natalia had helped my father with Max's treatment. Max's pack had an alliance with Natalia's pack, but when their contract ended, they didn't come to help during the war.
"It's an honor to meet you, Alpha Adrian. I sincerely apologize for that night—I wasn't thinking clearly and couldn't greet you properly."
Max's voice was polite, but he made sure to show the proper respect.
I looked away and nodded. I'd almost forgotten I was a head Alpha talking to a healer from another pack. I couldn't lose my temper with him. My pack needed him.
"Thanks for coming, Max," Natalia said softly.
My eyes darkened as I slowly turned to look at her.
Why was she talking to him like that? Where was the woman who'd been so cold to me just minutes ago?
Max shook his head as if to say it was no big deal.
"I was thinking about going to—"
I cut Natalia off and asked Max, "How are things in your pack?"
Max refocused on me. "Everything's fine. I came here for personal reasons."
I raised an eyebrow. "What reasons?"
"I'd been looking for someone but lost track of her..." Max paused and glanced at Natalia, then continued, "But I found that person in your pack. So I'll be staying for a while. I know Alpha Adrian doesn't force guests to leave if they want to stay longer."
My fists clenched as I understood what he meant. I glared at Natalia when I saw her blushing.
How could she react like that to another man? It was getting harder to keep my cool.
I wanted to growl at Max and tell him, 'She's my mate, so back off.'
I could feel my wolf didn't like this either. He wanted to take control and pull his mate closer. He didn't even like the smell of another male wolf on her.
Natalia cleared her throat. "Max, let's go. I have so much to tell you."
Max walked to his car nearby. He opened the passenger door and gestured toward it.
"Please."
Natalia took one last look at me before getting in Max's car.
Max nodded at me and went to the driver's seat. He didn't even ask my permission before deciding to leave.
Standing under the darkening sky, I watched Natalia drive away with another man.
