Alpha's Twins Chapter 109
My ankle, which had gotten hurt earlier, caught my attention for a moment. The wound healed so fast I barely had time to glance at it before it was completely gone.
"Boss?"
I looked over at Damia and smiled. "Get in the car. Let's head back to the hotel."
She nodded and climbed in. Once she settled beside me, she gently took my hand.
"Boss, I was so scared. I thought I'd never see you again."
I laughed softly. "Silly girl, it's just a forest. Did you think it was going to swallow me whole?"
She shook her head. "No, but you went missing as a kid. Your family spent years looking for you. If something happened again..."
I squeezed her hand. "I'm perfectly fine. Don't worry."
The driver started the engine, and we headed back to the hotel.
Walking into the lobby, I spotted Beta Patrick waiting there.
He walked over with a slight smile. "Hey, Natalia."
I nodded, confused. "What are you doing here, Beta Patrick?"
He looked surprised by my question. "We're staying here too."
I mentally kicked myself, realizing that's how Adrian got my room number and managed to send that bouquet to my room.
Damia looked between us, puzzled, so I introduced her to Beta Patrick.
"Boss, how do you know Alpha Adrian's beta?" she whispered as we said goodbye to Patrick and headed toward the elevators.
"I met him..." I paused. She was my personal assistant—she knew I'd never spoken to him at any pack meetings.
"We've talked at parties. He's a decent guy. Not like his Alpha," I said, thinking about Adrian.
I couldn't figure out why he kept reaching out to me.
"Boss, can I ask you something?"
"What?"
"W-Was the news true?" she asked about the story Adrian had posted this morning.
Looking at her face, I could tell she was curious and wanted the real story. She'd noticed my neck last night, and she'd also seen Adrian and me coming out of the woods together today. She probably had the wrong idea.
"That news is complete garbage. I have nothing to do with that guy."
Damia smiled after hearing that.
"Why do you look so happy?" I asked.
"Boss, I was pretty sure you and Beta Eric were... you know. So when I suddenly saw Alpha Adrian with you, I was shocked."
I frowned. "I have nothing going on with Eric either. He's just a friend."
Her mouth dropped open. I sighed, realizing almost everyone in my pack thought Eric and I were together.
Back in my hotel room, I collapsed on the bed. I had zero energy left to change clothes or freshen up.
When I lifted my hand to look at it, I noticed a thin black line. Adrian had scraped his claw across my burn scar, which I'd covered with makeup. All the concealer had been wiped away, and you could see part of the scar showing through.
I stared up at the ceiling. What the hell was happening to my life? Why couldn't I just live in peace?
I wanted to quit my position at the pack company. If I kept running into that guy, he'd make my life a living nightmare. But I couldn't just walk away from being CEO overnight. My family saw me as the responsible one.
'I'm willing to do whatever it takes, even if it means walking through fire.'
As I closed my eyes, my wolf spoke up.
"You shouldn't have clawed him."
I opened my eyes immediately but didn't respond. So she kept talking.
"You know he can't heal that wound."
While I wondered how Adrian would react when he realized the wound wasn't healing, I couldn't help but laugh.
"I'll claw his heart out next time," I said, anger burning through me.
"What if he was trying to—"
"Nancy, what if someday you had to choose between me and him? Would you pick him over me?"
"How is that even possible? We're the same person. We can't be separated. Just like him and his wolf—you saw it tonight."
I went quiet, thinking about going back to my pack tomorrow. I had no idea when my eyes closed and I fell asleep.
When I woke up, it was already morning.
I got ready and changed into a long dress to hide my ankle. I called Damia and told her to book tickets back to the Blue Blood Pack.
After packing up the clothes I'd worn the last two days, I left my hotel room.
Damia came out of her room too, and we headed to the front desk together.
While we were checking out, a hotel employee handed me a bouquet of red roses.
I didn't need to guess who sent it. There was a card attached, and I read it.
"Goodbye, Natalia Hensley."
I frowned and looked around. I found Adrian Miller sitting on a couch in the lounge area, holding a coffee cup. He was watching me, studying my reaction.
I spotted a trash can nearby. I walked over and dumped the entire bouquet into it.
I turned back to look at Adrian, who looked seriously pissed about what I'd just done. I smirked at him and walked back to Damia, who looked just as shocked by my move.
"Let's go," I told her, and we left the hotel.
We caught a cab to the airport. While waiting for our flight, I got a text from an unknown number.
"Instead of thanking me for last night, you insulted me by throwing away my flowers. But I promise you—we'll see each other very soon."
