Alpha's Twins Chapter 204

I squeezed my eyes shut and turned away from the screen. This wasn't the time to be thinking about... that.

"Why... you?"

Her confused voice echoed in my ears. I opened my eyes and looked back at the screen.

She'd already straightened her clothes. Her hair fell across her chest, covering herself.

My mind drifted back to when I'd seen her with Max Harrison. I couldn't shake the image of her leaving with him.

"What did you think? That you could talk to my kids behind my back and I'd just let it slide?"

She swallowed hard and shook her head. "I'm begging you, Adrian. This is the only way I can reach them. Please don't cut me off from them."

Her eyes were heavy with exhaustion. I stared at her for a moment. She had no idea I was the one who'd been letting the kids contact her all along.

I looked away and pulled out a pack of cigarettes.

"Are you seriously smoking in your children's room, Alpha? Where are your manners?" Her voice was sharp with anger.

I shot her a look and lit the cigarette while maintaining eye contact, then took a long drag.

I blew out the smoke. "What's your deal with Max Harrison?"

Her eyebrows shot up like she hadn't expected that question.

"Excuse me?"

"No, I won't excuse you."

"Adrian Miller, you have no right to know about my personal life."

I raised an eyebrow and nodded. "Fine. Then don't call your kids again."

I moved to end the call.

Her eyes went wide. "No, no! Wait!"

I smirked. "Done with the attitude? Now tell me the truth."

"You're the most arrogant man I've ever met in my life."

"Are you going to answer or not?"

I was losing patience. I needed to know why she'd left with him. Seeing them together had twisted something inside me.

She let out a defeated sigh. "He's my friend. Harold told me he's the only one who can save Jason. So I convinced him to help my brother."

I watched her carefully. Her voice trembled slightly when she mentioned her brother.

"So he's going to heal your brother."

"Yes."

Relief flooded through me. The weight that had been pressing on my chest finally started to lift.

I'd been trying to stay calm this whole time. But somehow, just looking at this woman put my mind at ease.

I wondered just how much power she had over me.

"I told you everything. Now don't take their phone and tablet away."

I rolled my eyes. "I wasn't going to take them away anyway."

Her mouth fell open. "So you lied to me just to get what you wanted!"

I couldn't help but laugh. She looked adorable when she was angry. I felt good talking to her like this.

"I hate you, Adrian."

"Good. Keep hating me."

"I will. I'm hanging up now."

"Wait."

She stopped and looked at me. "What?"

"You know I'm planning a party for their fifth birthday. I want to surprise them."

Her anger softened a bit. It was obvious she loved the kids more than anything.

I waited for her reaction as I said, "I want you to come to their birthday party and surprise them."
